Chapter 11: The Phantom Thief Never Fails!
"I want to exchange for the Ocean's Heart you're wearing..."
"What?!"
Amiya thought she must have misheard.
What did he just say? He wanted her Ocean's Heart? Did he know the previous one was fake?
How was that possible? Only she and Mill knew about that.
Had Mill betrayed her? Absolutely not! Mill had grown up with her—there was no way he’d betray her. So how did this man know the Ocean's Heart was fake? And why did he want it?
A flood of questions rushed through Amiya’s mind, leaving even this world-renowned woman stunned for a couple of seconds.
But she quickly regained her composure, her tone icy. "Who are you, really?"
"Yours truly..."
The young man flashed a mysterious smile, grabbed the hem of his coat, and flipped it upward—instantly transforming his appearance.
A crisp, well-fitted white suit, a tall medieval-style white top hat, a faintly glinting monocle, and that iconic white cape.
"Kaitou Kid!"
Chen Feng’s dramatic reappearance sent the live stream viewership skyrocketing, rapidly approaching the one-million mark!
"Oh no, I’m the clown now. Can someone explain how Feng-shen left but is suddenly back?"
"Why does he want to exchange Ocean's Heart with Amiya? Didn’t he already get it?"
"There’s only one explanation—the previous Ocean's Heart was a fake! The real one is still on Amiya!"
"Holy flying fork! Twist after twist! This is better than a movie!"
"Better than pro wrestling!"
Meanwhile...
Li Qingyan, who had chased after him, sensed something was off.
Seeing Lin Chuanxiong still stationed outside, she frowned. "Captain Lin, are you saying none of you saw Chen Feng fly out the window?"
Lin Chuanxiong shook his head. "To be precise, we caught a glimpse, but he vanished mid-air two seconds later—like a projector suddenly switched off. It was bizarre!"
"A projector..."
Li Qingyan’s frown deepened. She turned to her team, and her eyes suddenly widened as realization struck.
"All members of Team One, line up in a row! Starting with me, count off!"
"One!"
"Two!"
"Three!"
...
"Fifteen!"
"Sixteen!"
As the last number was called, everyone froze.
Including Captain Li Qingyan, their team had exactly sixteen people—all now gathered downstairs. So who was the person still upstairs?
"Chen Feng!"
Li Qingyan gritted her teeth, hissing the name.
"Move out!"
Just then, the royal security team from Lorqing Country reached the ground floor, only to see Li Qingyan storming back upstairs with fury in her eyes. They exchanged confused glances.
Luckily, one of Lin Chuanxiong’s team members quickly explained the situation in English.
But when they heard that the "team member" left upstairs was actually Chen Feng in disguise, the Lorqing security personnel turned deathly pale.
Losing a national treasure might earn them severe punishment, but if anything happened to Amiya, they might as well flee the country now.
With that thought, the Lorqing security team sprinted back upstairs at triple their previous speed!
...
Amiya stood frozen, staring at Chen Feng.
She glanced toward the open window where the evening breeze still flowed in, confirming that what had happened earlier wasn’t a hallucination.
But one thing baffled her—how could someone who had clearly left suddenly reappear before her?
"You... never left?"
Chen Feng smiled and presented a rose to Amiya, who numbly accepted it.
"Miss Amiya, a true magician never leaves before the show is over."
Amiya instinctively took two steps back, shielding the Ocean's Heart necklace around her neck, as if fearing he might snatch it at any moment.
"Please, don’t be nervous. As a gentleman, I would never act rudely toward a lady."
Chen Feng maintained his signature poker-faced smile.
Despite his words, Amiya’s wariness didn’t fade.
Right then—
The ballroom doors burst open again. Chen Feng didn’t even need to turn around to know who it was.
"Chen Feng! Freeze! You’re under arrest!"
Chen Feng turned and met Li Qingyan’s murderous glare.
"My apologies, Miss Li Qingyan. I regret my earlier deception. But do remember—even phantom thieves lie."
Li Qingyan’s expression darkened further. Without another word, she signaled her team to move in.
"Looks like you’ve lost, Mr. Phantom Thief."
Amiya smirked, her composure fully restored.
But to her surprise, even now, Chen Feng made no move to escape.
Instead, he took her left hand and, under everyone’s stunned gaze, pressed a gentle kiss to it.
"Miss Amiya, never forget—Kaitou Kid never fails!"
"Classic Feng-shen, flirting even in the face of danger!"
"If I had half of Chen Feng’s charm, I wouldn’t be spending nights with just my hand!"
"Chen Feng, marry me! I’ll bear your children!"
"Seriously, can’t you guys come up with new material?"
"Blame the lazy author for recycling lines!"
...
"Take him down!"
This time, Li Qingyan refused to waste words. The moment the encirclement was complete, she gave the order.
But Chen Feng simply reached into his coat and pulled out a cylindrical object.
"Flash grenade!"
Li Qingyan’s eyes widened in alarm. She shielded her vision with one hand while lunging forward with the other.
Fzzzt!
A blinding white light erupted—and when it faded, Chen Feng was gone.
All that remained was a blue rose with a square card resting beside it.
Amiya picked it up and read the elegantly written message:
"As per my notice, the Ocean's Heart is now in my possession.
—Kaitou Kid."
"Possession? Don’t be ridicu—"
Her fingers flew to her neck. The necklace was gone.
Amiya’s smirk vanished, replaced by wide-eyed shock.
When? How?
Li Qingyan and her team wore equally grim expressions.
She’d vowed to capture Chen Feng, yet he’d outmaneuvered them—twice!
This was beyond insulting!
As silence engulfed the room, the Lorqing security team finally arrived, panting.
"Protect the princess!"
The leader of the group stumbled into the venue in a frantic scramble, his comical appearance instantly drawing laughter from one of the more easily amused team members.
Even the audience in the live stream couldn’t help but chuckle. Though they couldn’t understand what the men were shouting, their panicked expressions made the situation easy to interpret.
“Seriously, are these Lorqing Country guards former sketch comedians? Did they come here to put on a show?”
“The Qing Dynasty fell, and now you remember to report for duty!”
“With a group like this in charge of Amiya’s security, I really don’t get what her father was thinking.”
Amiya, who was also present at the scene, witnessed the ridiculous spectacle, and her face immediately darkened.
Finally, she flicked her sleeve in frustration and stormed off without another word.
