Little Wei was genuinely terrified by the countless eyes blinking all at once—dense and overwhelming, even more horrifying than a horror movie.
"You really are a love-struck fool, scared of even a spider," Li Luoyi sneered relentlessly.
Little Wei shrank behind Ling Wanbai.
"I just can't help it!"
Ling Wanbai was both amused and exasperated.
She raised her hand and summoned an energy sword, massive mechanical wings unfurling behind her as she charged forward. She paid no attention to Li Luoyi—her only target was the swarm of spiders.
Seeing that Ling Wanbai wasn’t focusing on her, Li Luoyi commanded the remaining insectoids.
"See that weakest one over there? Kill her, and Ling Wanbai—the one attacking you—will surrender to you."
Li Luoyi knew full well the deep-seated hatred the insectoids held for Ling Wanbai.
And the moment the insectoids laid eyes on Ling Wanbai, their postures stiffened with aggression, charging at her with furious intensity.
Little Wei bit her lip hard, watching in distress as those disgusting creatures surrounded Ling Wanbai. Gripping her energy sword tightly, she dashed forward.
At least those squishy things were only on the periphery—Little Wei couldn’t even see the spider anymore.
Before she could break through, Li Luoyi blocked her path.
"Oh? Feeling protective?" Li Luoyi asked with a mocking smile.
Such a love-struck fool.
"Bitch." Little Wei wished she could bite Li Luoyi right then.
This woman was utterly repulsive.
"I was planning to let the insectoids wear you down first, but seeing how eager you are, I think playing with you myself will be more fun."
Little Wei’s face went blank.
What a psycho.
Did this woman crawl out of a septic tank? How could anyone be so disgusting in both words and actions?
"Are you really that bored?" Little Wei retracted her energy sword and instead held her staff horizontally in front of her.
Ling Wanbai couldn’t afford to get hurt—Little Wei didn’t even dare imagine what she’d do if something happened to her.
"Of course I’m bored. Why else would I enter this world looking for entertainment? You’re way more amusing than the previous heroines," Li Luoyi replied, smirking.
If she defeated this girl, that staff in her hands might just become hers.
Li Luoyi drew her sword—her weapon wasn’t limited to just a dagger. The dagger was merely for convenience in the modern world.
"Idiot." Little Wei had no patience for Li Luoyi’s nonsense.
She raised her hand to strike, but several insectoids rushed to Li Luoyi’s aid. Ling Wanbai was already overwhelmed—while she possessed Si’s strength, she could only use Ling Wanbai’s abilities in this world, especially with Little Wei watching from behind.
Meanwhile, Little Wei and Li Luoyi had already clashed.
With the insectoids harassing her and her anxiety mounting, Little Wei unleashed a skill mid-fight—Silver Wings’ ultimate move.
Frozen Mile.
A silver crescent slashed across the ashen earth, instantly freezing the insectoids solid. Little Wei’s head buzzed violently, as if someone had smashed a hammer into her skull.
Who knew using a big move came with a debuff? That was an unpleasant surprise.
If only she could just kill Li Luoyi—this wouldn’t be so troublesome.
Distracted, Little Wei didn’t notice a massive, writhing insectoid looming above her until a drop of saliva landed on her head.
Instinctively, she raised her staff to block—only for the creature to swallow it whole in one gulp.
What the hell?!
Now even Li Luoyi looked regretful. That staff had seemed sturdy—it must’ve had some special use.
Little Wei paled and stumbled back.
Before Li Luoyi could react, Little Wei shouted:
"Space—Lock!"
Suddenly, Li Luoyi couldn’t move.
"Little Nailuo!" Little Wei called out.
Earlier, Little Nailuo had told her there was a chance to force Li Luoyi’s soul out—otherwise, Little Wei wouldn’t have wasted such a crucial skill.
Little Nailuo materialized beside Little Wei and darted toward Li Luoyi. Little Wei watched as Little Nailuo tapped the back of Li Luoyi’s head with a translucent spike.
A plume of black smoke burst from Li Luoyi’s forehead.
Little Wei stared, dumbfounded.
Was that… her true form?
How?
Before she could approach, the black mist bared its teeth at Little Nailuo, startling her. In the next instant, it vanished without a trace.
"Where’d it go?" Little Wei demanded.
Little Nailuo blinked. "No idea!"
She genuinely didn’t know—it had just disappeared in a flash.
Maybe its system recalled it to its own space?
Little Wei was about to press further when the insectoid that had swallowed her staff suddenly collapsed, its body shriveling up.
What now? Little Wei’s eyes widened.
Meanwhile, Ling Wanbai—finally noticing the commotion—let out a relieved sigh. Good thing she’d given that thing to Little Nailuo. Though there was a small problem: this world would probably count as a violation, meaning a hefty pay cut.
Worst of all, she might’ve just dragged Little Wei into trouble too.
Ugh, what a headache.
Overhead, the staff floated higher, just like in the post-apocalyptic world, radiating rings of silver light that absorbed the energy of every nearby insectoid.
Even the ones hiding underground weren’t spared—the staff hunted them all down.
Little Wei assumed it would stop after draining them, but the staff kept ascending. Ling Wanbai quickly grabbed Little Wei and followed it.
They left the planet, yet the staff continued flying.
"Is it running away from home or something?"
Little Wei was at a loss for words.
But the staff had a petty side—Ling Wanbai realized it was heading toward another planet, one where the insectoids had retreated and set up camp.
Basically, the insectoids’ border stronghold.
"It’s lost its mind?!" Little Wei gaped as the staff charged forward.
Fortunately, it didn’t invade—just circled the dark gray planet’s edge, wrapping it in silver rings.
Little Wei: "…"
Ling Wanbai frowned. She had no clue about the staff’s origins.
Could it absorb energy from anything?
Then why hadn’t it done so earlier? Why wait until an insectoid swallowed it before breaking free?
If that was the case, in a supernatural world, could it absorb ghosts? In a cultivation world, could it drain demons?
But ghosts probably wouldn’t be dumb enough to eat a staff, right?
Demons? Even less likely.
"If we’re dealing with a whole planet of insectoids, maybe we should return to the aircraft first?" Ling Wanbai suggested.
Given the situation, they’d be standing there for a while.
"OK, sounds good to me," Little Wei agreed immediately.
Ling Wanbai pulled her along, and soon they were inside the massive aircraft. Little Wei nibbled on a biscuit, watching the staff continue its energy feast outside.
This thing…
Could it develop a special ability?
Oh right—zombies were virus-infected, so the staff had purification and healing functions. But what about insectoids?
