Find the Boss First

The Gate of Asura?

The four guardians exchanged glances, clearly having no recollection of such a name.

Ning Jie, fuming with rage, shouted, "Hurry up and attack! Kill them all!"

Bai Xiu, gripping his spear, asked coolly, "All from the Demonic Heaven Sect?"

Ning Er nodded. "Yeah."

"Oh, then I won’t hold back."

With that, Bai Xiu twisted his hands, splitting the spear into two short spears.

In an instant, he left behind an afterimage as he silently appeared behind one of the guardians.

Sshhk!

A short spear thrust toward the guardian’s back, its tip gleaming with cold light.

The guardian, alert and sharp-eyed, reacted swiftly, turning and raising his blade to block.

But Bai Xiu’s momentum didn’t falter. The spear, crackling with faint purple lightning, pierced straight through the blade.

Sshhk!

The edge slashed across the guardian’s throat.

Blood sprayed as the guardian collapsed.

"Third Brother!"

The remaining three guardians’ eyes burned with fury.

"I’ll fight you to the death!"

A guardian at the late-stage Void Realm swung his sword at Bai Xiu.

At that moment, a short spear wreathed in lightning tore through the rain, growing larger in his pupils—

Blood gushed!

The spear impaled his throat, pinning him and the weapon to the wall behind.

"Die!"

Another guardian had circled behind Bai Xiu, swinging a staff at his head.

Clang!

Ning Er’s broadsword intercepted just in time.

"Thanks," Bai Xiu said flatly, then swung his short spear in a crescent arc.

The blade slit the attacker’s throat.

Tu Langlang, shrouded in dark spiritual energy, grinned, revealing his little fangs. "One left!"

His mischievous smile, paired with his horns, made him look like a little demon.

The last guardian clenched his teeth, gripping his broadsword with a vicious glare.

Just as he prepared for a desperate strike—

He froze, realizing his body was bound, completely immobilized.

"Dark Night Prison!"

Tu Langlang raised his hand, black energy swirling around him as he chuckled.

Swish!

A blade flashed—the guardian, powerless to resist, crumpled to the ground.

Ning Er hoisted his broadsword and turned to Ning Jie. "Your turn."

"I—I surrender! Young Master Ning Er, I—I watched you grow up! You can’t do this to me!"

Ning Jie panicked, his legs trembling so badly he could barely stand.

"Go to hell!"

The mention of the past only stoked Ning Er’s fury. With a swing, he ended Ning Jie’s miserable life.

He’d wanted to kill this bastard for ten years.

Today, he’d finally gotten his wish.

After the deed, Ning Er frowned. "Wait, my father is—"

He stared at Ning Jie’s corpse and fell silent.

He might’ve acted too soon. They’d finally caught someone from the Demonic Heaven Sect, and he hadn’t even questioned him.

Nearby, Bai Xiu had already retrieved his short spears, twisting them back into one before stowing it away.

"Thank you for saving us, Brother Bai!" Ning Er clasped his fists.

Tu Langlang hurriedly mimicked the gesture. "Thanks!"

Bai Xiu replied indifferently, "No big deal. Heard they were from the Demonic Heaven Sect, so I killed them on the way."

Ning Er: "..."

When Bai Xiu first arrived in the Immortal Gate’s minor world, he’d heard that warriors from the Demonic Heaven Sect had abducted a peasant girl, tortured her to death, and slaughtered her entire family.

Calling them trash would be too generous.

Bai Xiu’s dead-fish eyes fixed on Ning Er. "Seems like you’re from the Demonic Heaven Sect too?"

Ning Er paled. "I’m nothing like those beasts! I’m still a virgin!"

"Fine. The rivers and mountains will bring us together again. Farewell."

Bai Xiu glanced at the sky—the rain had stopped—and turned to leave.

Watching his retreating figure, Ning Er and Tu Langlang exchanged a look, sharing the same thought.

"Brother Bai, wait!"

Two voices rang out.

Bai Xiu paused, glancing back with a raised brow. "What now?"

Ning Er said earnestly, "We feel like we’ve known you forever!"

Tu Langlang nodded. "Let’s become sworn brothers! Big Bro, Second Bro!"

"Big Bro, Third Bro!" Ning Er clasped his fists.

Bai Xiu stared at the two idiots, unimpressed.

"Not interested. I don’t want my IQ dropping."

He turned away again, dismissing them.

Undeterred, Ning Er and Tu Langlang shamelessly crowded closer.

"Big Bro, I’m Ning Er!"

"Yeah, you really are er (two)."

"Big Bro, I’m Tu Langlang."

Bai Xiu sighed, watching the two cling to him like glue.

The rain had ceased, sunlight breaking through the clouds and casting a golden glow.

In the distance, a rainbow arched over the mountains.

---

"Wolf! Bai’s gone!"

"What?! How’d a grown man just vanish?!"

Kim Jung-ho yelled, nearly tearing his hair out in frustration.

An Yi’s arrival in the Immortal Gate had caused quite a stir. They’d learned their boss was at the Azure Phoenix Pavilion and were heading there to regroup—only to realize Bai Xiu was missing!

The warriors of the Gate of Asura were speechless.

Bai Xiu did nothing but sleep, his presence so faint no one noticed he was gone.

Kim Jung-ho fumed. "Who was supposed to watch him? What happened?!"

Xiao Yike timidly raised his hand. "It—it was me..."

Normally a gentle soul, he’d been the one to drag Bai Xiu along in the first place.

So, upon entering the Immortal Gate, he’d taken it upon himself to look after Bai Xiu.

Problem was, his other personality wasn’t on board.

While that personality was out "stretching its legs," it had dumped Bai Xiu somewhere.

Now, no one had a clue where he was.

"Jung-ho, what do we do now?"

"We’re close to the Azure Phoenix Pavilion—probably about to meet the boss. But we can’t just leave Bai. Do we find the boss first or Bai?"

"Find the boss!"

"Find Bai!"

The group argued heatedly before turning to Kim Jung-ho.

With Bai Xiu absent, Kim Jung-ho was the de facto leader.

Kim Jung-ho’s scalp prickled under the pressure.

Making decisions? That wasn’t his strong suit.

"Uh, well..."

He pretended to ponder deeply, sweat beading on his forehead.

He was straightforward—no ideas came to mind.

Just then, Xiao Yike’s body suddenly bulked up, towering over them.

Everyone scrambled back.

This guy’s second personality was a violent maniac.

Xiao Yike growled, "I brought Bai here. I’m responsible for his safety!"

Kim Jung-ho nodded. "Makes sense."

"So, I think we should find the boss first!" Xiao Yike declared solemnly.

"Makes sense!"

Kim Jung-ho agreed. "Bai’s strong—he’ll be fine. Decision made!"

And so, the four to five hundred warriors of the Gate of Asura marched proudly toward the Azure Phoenix Pavilion.

---

Meanwhile, the Celestial Mystery Sect was also heading there.

The group consisted of a man and a woman.

The man was handsome, wielding a folding fan, his white robes lending an air of effortless grace.

The woman had jet-black hair, petite and delicate, her youthful face still carrying a hint of childish charm.

They were Gu Changfeng and Tu Yiyi.

"Weren’t you supposed to find your brother?" Gu Changfeng asked skeptically.

"My brother’s a grown man—it’s not like he’ll starve. An Yi’s way more important!" Tu Yiyi blushed.

Gu Changfeng sighed.

Escorting his crush to meet her love interest—he was truly the ultimate simp.

"Hey, pretty boy, why’d we split from the Fourth Elder and the others?" Tu Yiyi eyed him suspiciously.

Originally, she’d insisted on coming to the Azure Phoenix Pavilion to see An Yi.

But Gu Changfeng had suggested splitting their group of four into two teams.

Gu Changfeng pondered and said, "This is all for safety. Traveling as a group of four would draw too much attention. Moving in pairs helps conceal our tracks."

Tu Yiyi let out a cold snort, seeing right through his little scheme.

Creating an opportunity to be alone together?

Hah, not a chance!

Gu Changfeng gazed into the distance and remarked leisurely, "Let’s go. Things haven’t been peaceful lately—I have a feeling something’s about to happen at the Qingyuan Pavilion."

"Hmph, An Yi is incredibly strong. How many in the immortal sects could even stand against him?" Tu Yiyi said with a proud tilt of her chin.

Gu Changfeng shook his head and sighed. "It’s really not that certain."
