Li Shi's Identity

Luo Jun walked over quickly and saw Lorna supporting Jenny as they hurried out of the shelter.

"What's going on?" Luo Jun asked as he came up to them.

Lorna hurriedly pointed at the shelter and yelled, "There's...there's a snake, a really big one!"

When Luo Jun heard this, he couldn't help laughing. "Meat that delivers itself to your door can't be wasted."

Luo Jun drew the dagger from his waist and darted towards the shelter. At this time of year there shouldn't be any snakes around unless they were some poor hungry souls.

Two meters in front of the shelter, Luo Jun poked his head in to take a look.

If he hadn't looked, it would have been fine, but after one look he jumped in fright. It was actually a huge emerald green python!

The python is a species of constrictor snake and the largest existing snake species. The python coiled in the warmth of the shelter, judging by its size, had to weigh at least 130 jin!

Since it was coiled up, it was hard to estimate its length, but it could be certain that this guy was not to be trifled with!

"Damn! It really is huge!" Luo Jun felt extremely strange inside!

For this South American python to appear on this island was bizarre. Its hunting range was very broad, preferring to live along rivers or in swamps. Meeting a bear last night and a python today, it was like they had wandered into the Amazon jungle!

This was completely unreasonable.

Just how big was this island?

The stench on its body suggested it probably came from the marshy beach.

If it kept occupying the shelter, the four of them really would have nowhere to stay tonight.

Killing it would not be easy. Although it moved slowly, once it attacked, its body could swiftly wrap around its target.

Once wrapped up, there would absolutely be no chance of breaking free by oneself.

But in the end, it was just a snake. Luo Jun was annoyed that the women had no clothes to wear in the cold winter. If he skinned this snake and dried and tanned the skin into leather, it could probably make two or three pairs of pants.

Snake skin had good sealing and was tough yet soft, with very decent insulation.

Luo Jun slowly retreated two steps.

"Keep an eye on it and don't let it get away."

After telling the two women, Luo Jun quickly ran to Li Shi who was gathering firewood in the distant woods. When Li Shi saw Luo Jun running over in such a hurry, she was very puzzled.

"Uncle, what's the matter?"

"Lend me the axe!"

Luo Jun directly snatched the axe from Li Shi's hand, chopped down a two meter long, arm-thick tree on the spot, and whittled one end to a point.

While Luo Jun worked on the makeshift spear, Li Shi had already gotten the full story and ran back with him, wanting to see what the giant snake looked like.

When Luo Jun came back, the python was still there enjoying the warmth.

Luo immediately poked its head with the spear. The python, as if a drunkard stirred from slumber, suddenly sprang from the shelter.

But the dip in front of the shelter prevented it from shooting straight out. As it adjusted its body, Luo Jun fiercely jabbed the spear over, piercing the python's gaping bloody maw and throat, nailing it to the ground.

The python thrashed violently but Luo Jun pressed down hard on the spear, preventing it from getting away.

However, just this was not enough to kill the python, only to pin it in place. To kill it, he would need help from others.

In Africa, when experienced natives went out to hunt pythons, they always worked in pairs.

Obviously, Luo Jun alone was unable to cope with the situation. He could only wait until its strength was exhausted before having someone chop its head off with the axe.

The python struggled desperately. After ten minutes of writhing, it gradually ran out of strength.

But the python might just be resting to recover its strength. Luo Jun absolutely could not give it that chance. So he freed a hand, took out his dagger, and fiercely flung it over.

Throwing blades was one of Luo Jun's mercenary skills. Even with a pair of chopsticks, he could nail targets three meters away to a cutting board.

Let alone a dagger.

The dagger stabbed into the python near its heart, but the python had thick skin and flesh. This stab did not pierce its heart.

The python thrashed in pain once more, demolishing the already battered shelter. Its six meter long body was smeared with ashes from the stove. Just then, holding an axe, Li Shi suddenly gathered the courage to rush up while the python was twisting about and hacked fiercely at its neck.

Her movements were fast, fierce and accurate.

Even Luo Jun was dumbfounded.

What kind of stunt was this? A violent loli?

Only after seeing the python's head separated from its body did Luo Jun dare to believe the girl had actually done this.

The python's body was still writhing about. It would completely stop before long.

Lorna and Jenny stared wide-eyed at Li Shi while Li Shi just heaved a deep sigh and casually threw the axe to the ground. "Scared me to death!"

Luo Jun swallowed hard.

Just now he had thought about having Lorna strike the killing blow since she was the strongest among the three women. But before he could even call out, Li Shi had already charged up holding the axe, and at the moment when the python was struggling most fiercely at that.

"The python didn't scare me, but you scared me. How can you be so gutsy?" Luo Jun said with mixed emotions as he looked at the seemingly harmless Li Shi before him.

Li Shi grinned and laughed. "In high school, I often went out hunting to play with my dad. I saw how people catch them in the Amazon before so I wasn't afraid!"

Hearing her say that, Luo Jun felt it made sense and was no longer surprised.

Other than golf, hunting trips were a way North American wealthy families socialized with others of their standing.

Luo Jun had been invited by a tech tycoon to participate in one before.

They did so in style, usually hiring one or more experienced hunters or wilderness survival experts to accompany them. Then they would hunt in the wilderness for a week.

And Luo Jun was one of those safety specialists.

It was the wealthy's form of entertainment, similar to imperial hunting by ancient Chinese emperors. They would also pay the local government to cordon off the hunting area to bar unauthorized entry, ensuring their own safety.

Li Shi spoke very casually. Her words made everyone present startled for a moment.

"Little sister, it seems your family is truly wealthy. I and Jack have only tagged along once with other rich people..." Jenny spoke up, clearly wanting to make small talk and probe Li Shi's background.

Li Shi spread her hands and gave a wry smile. "I guess so. I came out to play by myself this time. Usually I can't even ride commercial flights. Didn't expect this accident to happen."

Lorna came forward excitedly at this time. "I know which family you're from now. Looks like we'll be rescued!"

Luo Jun also knew who she was.

He really hadn't imagined the girl had such powerful backing.

Just Became Emperor, Already Assassinated by the Son of Destiny

e bizarre and supernatural had descended. The previous emperor was a thoroughgoing tyrant; no longer satisfied with human women, he had set his sights on a stunningly beautiful supernatural entity. He met his end in his bedchamber, drained of all his vital essence. As the legitimate eldest son and crown prince, Wang Hao was thus hastily enthroned, becoming the young emperor of the Great Zhou Dynasty. No sooner had he awakened the "Imperial Sign-In Intelligence System" than he was assassinated by a Son of Destiny—a classic villain's opening. The Great Zhou, ravaged by the former emperor's excesses, was in national decline. The great families within its borders harbored their own treacherous schemes, martial sects began to defy the imperial court's decrees, and border armies, their pay and provisions in arrears, grumbled incessantly against the central government. Fortunately, the central capital was still held secure by the half-million Imperial Guards and fifty thousand Imperial Forest Army who obeyed the court's orders, along with the royal family's hidden reserves of power, barely managing to suppress the realm. As the Great Zhou's finances worsened and supernatural activities grew ever more frequent, the court sat atop a volcano. Ambitious plotters everywhere dreamed of overthrowing the dynasty, and even some reclusive ancient powers emerged, attempting to sway the tides of the world. At the first grand court assembly, the civil and military officials nearly came to blows, fighting tooth and nail over the allocation of fifty million taels of silver from the summer tax revenues. The spectacle opened Wang Hao's eyes—the Great Zhou's bureaucracy was not only corrupt but also martially proficient, a cabinet of all-rounders. Some officials even had the audacity to suggest the emperor release funds from the imperial privy purse to address the emergency. Wang Hao suddenly felt weary. Let it all burn.
