"He went towards the maternity ward!"
"Damn, Brother Fang must be out of his mind? That's the territory of those infant spirits."
"That guy from the Monkey Kingdom just died there—what a feast."
No one knew what Fang Zhiyi was thinking.
A writhing mass of creatures crowded together, desperately burrowing into the still-warm corpse on the ground. The victim's belly had been torn open, organs strewn aside. Anyone who saw the scene couldn't help but shudder.
The sound of a door opening drew their attention. While some infant spirits continued fighting over the corpse, the rest turned toward Fang Zhiyi.
Taking one look at the scene, Fang Zhiyi didn't hesitate—he spun around and slammed the door shut in one smooth motion.
"Host, there's something on the bed at the far end," Xiao Hei reminded him.
Fang Zhiyi nodded. "Yeah."
"Then why not grab it?"
"Because I value my life."
He had already tried activating the original host's divine ability and glimpsed ten seconds into the future. If he rushed over at top speed to grab that small box—which contained the elevator card to the upper floors—those shapeless infant spirits would swarm over him in no time.
"Pathetic. Can't kill them, can't ignore them either. Forget it." Fang Zhiyi sighed and turned toward another path. "What was that about helping?"
Xiao Hei chuckled and muttered something under his breath. Fang Zhiyi reluctantly nodded.
After walking a while, he neared the lobby, where a reception desk stood. Just then, a figure tumbled out, landing right in front of him—a woman in a white dress. She looked up, locking eyes with him, her gaze filled with unspoken words.
"Host, it's your white moonlight!"
"Pfft, your white moonlight." Fang Zhiyi changed direction, heading toward a narrow side passage.
Ning Yi'an panicked. "Zhiyi! Is that you?"
Fang Zhiyi had already vanished around the corner but poked his head back out. "Yeah."
Ning Yi'an smiled. "It's so good to see you."
"Uh-huh. Likewise. Hi. Bye." Fang Zhiyi disappeared again.
Ning Yi'an was stunned. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Based on her understanding of him, he should've helped her without hesitation. What was going on? As the monster drew closer, she had no choice but to drop the act and use her divine ability—Charm—on it.
Watching the monster flail at empty air, Ning Yi'an hurried after Fang Zhiyi. If simple conversation didn't work, she'd have to resort to her divine ability on him. The thought of the chest of money promised by the K Kingdom officials made her breath quicken.
But she didn't know that Fang Zhiyi had already jumped out a window after walking a short distance, while she continued blindly down the corridor.
As Fang Zhiyi strolled through the courtyard, the live chat erupted again.
"Whoa, that woman knows Brother Fang? She's gorgeous."
"Seriously stunning, and she's not even wearing makeup."
"Doesn't she fit the image of a white moonlight from novels?"
"Brother Fang's being way too cold. He just ran off."
"Romance can wait, right? Flirting now is basically suicide."
"That woman's from K Kingdom."
"Wait, not from Xia Kingdom?"
"She is, but she emigrated. I saw her stream."
"Holy crap, Brother Fang's a genius! He must've seen the future!"
In truth, every move Ning Yi'an made had been anticipated. The original host's abilities were common knowledge worldwide, so she couldn't afford even the slightest slip-up.
But this time, she was dealing with a different Fang Zhiyi.
After wandering around, Fang Zhiyi concluded that this floor didn't have too many horrors—just a bunch of infant spirits, a ghostly nurse, and the nameless entity chasing Ning Yi'an. Without the elevator card, he couldn't go upstairs.
"This is a bit of a hassle." Fang Zhiyi looked up at the second-floor window, where a patient in a hospital gown leaned out, staring down at him. Their eyes met.
After a few seconds, Fang Zhiyi suddenly grinned and waved slowly at the patient.
The hospital-gown-clad entity felt an odd chill. Was this really a human? It ducked back inside, pondered for a moment, then leaned out even further, its body stretching unnaturally.
It glared down at the human. If only he were on the second floor—if he got scared and tried to run, it could devour him. That delicious human flesh... The patient licked its lips greedily.
But the excitement and eagerness on the human's face left it confused. Seeing the human beckoning, it struggled to resist. Still, reason prevailed—it couldn't break the rules by hunting prey on the first floor.
As the patient retreated, Fang Zhiyi sighed in disappointment. This entity was clearly smarter than the others, but it refused to come down!
Xiao Hei returned from scouting the area.
Seeing Fang Zhiyi's dejected expression, Xiao Hei put its hands on its hips. "Host, I found one that fits your criteria!"
"Take me there!"
At the westernmost end of the first floor was a duty room, where a security captain with a face shrouded in dark energy sat. Two intruders stood trembling before him.
"You want the elevator card from me? Are you here to visit someone?" The security captain's expression was eerie as his fingers drummed on the desk.
The two temporary teammates exchanged glances. "We're here to visit a patient!"
"A patient? Which department?"
One of them was sweating bullets, unable to recall any hospital departments.
"Surgery! Surgery!" the other hastily added.
The security captain let out a grotesque laugh. "Alright, take these two to surgery!" The door swung open, and two twisted security entities entered, brandishing sharp knives before plunging them into the intruders!
The live chat exploded with shock. Surgery meant getting stabbed?
True to their word, the two barely alive intruders were dragged away by the entities, becoming the first in this batch of players to reach the second floor—though their screens went dark soon after, meaning they were dead.
The security captain was savoring the taste of blood when the door burst open. A shadow flew in, slamming into the wall—it was one of his subordinates, its already deformed head now nearly flattened.
"Who dares?!"
Fang Zhiyi clapped his hands and immediately stepped forward to shake hands. "Hello, hello, hello! You're the captain, right?"
The security captain was bewildered. This was definitely a human, but why was he so... bizarre?
"I need to go upstairs."
Understanding dawned on the captain. So that was it. He glanced at his injured subordinate and went through the formalities. "Are you here to see someone?"
Fang Zhiyi nodded. "Yes."
"Visiting a patient?"
"No."
The captain raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Then who?"
"Your hospital director."
The security captain's expression darkened. This human knew the director? Impossible.
