Candlelight Dinner

Chen Guowei crossed his arms and shot Old Gao a glare.

The two chatted and laughed as they walked to the restaurant entrance, just in time to see Su Yang stepping into a Maybach S680.

Chen Guowei's facial muscles twitched. "What car did you say this Su guy drove again?"

"A McLaren Senna," Old Gao replied beside him.

"This Su must have some serious connections—Senna and Maybach? That’s no small deal."

"People at his level usually have some kind of backing."

......

About twenty minutes later, Su Yang and Lu Yun arrived at the underground parking lot of Senhai Manor.

Su Yang had invited Lu Yun over for dinner—several other girls had already visited his new place before.

Lu Yun was the only one who hadn’t been, and Su Yang thought tonight would be perfect for some quality time together.

Lu Yun had originally planned to return to her rented apartment, but the moment Su Yang called, she couldn’t resist. These days, she wanted to spend every second by his side.

They took the elevator up to the eighth floor. Su Yang opened the door and turned with a smile. "Come on in!"

Lu Yun beamed. "This is my first time here."

"Yeah, I wanted to invite you over days ago, but you had to go back to Yangcheng because of your dad."

"Better late than never."

They stepped inside.

"Make yourself at home," Su Yang said.

Lu Yun glanced around and blushed. "Your place is gorgeous."

"It came like this when I bought it. If I’d decorated it myself, it wouldn’t look like this, but going through the hassle of renovations was too much work."

They settled onto the sofa.

Su Yang took off his watch. "What would you like to drink?"

"I see a coffee machine over there," Lu Yun pointed toward the bar counter.

Su Yang followed her gaze. "Oh, yeah. Want some? I’ll make it for you."

"You know how to make coffee?"

Su Yang smirked. "Of course. There’s a lot I can do—plenty you don’t know about yet."

Lu Yun giggled. "Then make me a latte, please."

"Sure, just wait."

"By the way, what do you want for dinner?"

"Anything’s fine. If it’s too much trouble, we can just order takeout."

"Try not to rely on takeout too much. Homemade food’s healthier."

Lu Yun grinned sheepishly. "Sometimes, you really don’t act like someone our age."

"How so?"

"How many young people these days actually cook regularly? If I’m not at home, I’m basically living off takeout."

"Well, I enjoy cooking. I usually avoid hassle, but when it comes to food, I don’t mind the effort."

After chatting for a while, the coffee machine warmed up.

Su Yang made Lu Yun a latte while sticking to his usual iced americano—could you believe it?

"I’ve decided—steamed blue crabs tonight, some other seafood, and a little red wine. How’s that sound?"

Lu Yun swung her legs playfully on the sofa. "Sounds great! I’ll eat whatever you make."

"Oh, wait—I just remembered there’s a lamb leg in the fridge. I’ll marinate it now, and we can roast it later."

"Isn’t that too much?" Lu Yun hugged her coffee cup, looking adorably hesitant.

"Don’t worry, we’ll eat what we can. Roast lamb leg is amazing."

Su Yang took a sip of coffee, then glanced at Lu Yun with a playful raise of his brow. "How about we take care of some business before cooking?"

Lu Yun knew exactly what he meant. Her cheeks flushed. "It’s not even dark yet… Let’s… let’s wait till tonight."

Su Yang chuckled. "Fine by me!"

[Ding—Host’s mood detected: extremely relaxed and content. Reward: 500,000.]

Su Yang got up and headed to the kitchen to marinate the lamb leg in a large metal tray.

By around nine in the evening, everything was finally ready.

Dinner could’ve been served earlier, but marinating and roasting the lamb took time.

The table was now laden with a large plate of steamed blue crabs, a whole roasted lamb leg that looked mouthwatering, a plate of salmon, and a generous serving of steamed shrimp.

Lu Yun’s stomach had been growling for a while. She sat at the table, gazing at Su Yang with admiration. "You’re amazing, Su Yang. I could never make any of this."

"These are actually simple dishes. Real skill is in everyday home cooking."

Su Yang lit a small candle while Lu Yun poured the wine.

The dining room lights dimmed, instantly creating the ambiance of a candlelit dinner straight out of a movie.

"Come on, sit. Let’s enjoy our own little romantic dinner."

Lu Yun’s eyes were filled with affection as she looked at Su Yang—different from how other girls looked at him.

Take Lin Yiyi, for example. The way she gazed at Su Yang was sultry, almost magnetic. Lu Yun’s gaze, however, was pure adoration—two entirely different energies.

They sat close and began their meal.

An hour later, everything except the lamb leg had been polished off.

Mostly thanks to Su Yang’s appetite—Lu Yun didn’t eat much, but after two glasses of wine, her cheeks were delightfully flushed.

After dinner, Lu Yun eagerly cleared the table, and they settled onto the sofa to watch a movie while sipping more wine.

Su Yang selected the classic romance The Notebook.

He turned off all the lights, leaving only the faint glow of the TV illuminating their faces.

With the Harman Kardon sound system, it almost felt like being in a theater.

They snuggled close on the plush sofa.

"Have you seen this before?" Su Yang asked.

Lu Yun shook her head. "No, I don’t watch many movies."

"What do you usually do when you’re bored?"

"Read books, watch dramas, or variety shows."

Su Yang nodded. "Not bad—just different ways to pass the time."

They chatted as they watched, and soon, their refilled wine glasses were empty again.

Su Yang didn’t pour more. Instead, he casually pulled Lu Yun into his arms.

Distracted by the movie, Lu Yun didn’t resist and nestled against him comfortably.

Before they knew it, the film reached the scene where the main couple kissed in the pouring rain.

Flustered, Lu Yun sat up and tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, stealing a glance at Su Yang.

To her surprise, he was already looking at her.

She quickly turned away, pretending nothing happened.

Su Yang chuckled and pulled her back into his embrace.

As the movie progressed to a more intimate moment, Lu Yun shyly lowered her head.

Noticing this, Su Yang scooped her up in his arms and stood.

Lu Yun’s heart raced as she gazed at him lovingly. "I… I should shower. I didn’t yesterday, and I feel sticky."

Su Yang smirked but said nothing, carrying her straight to the bathroom.
