Villain: Even as a Girl, I Can Still Crush the Protagonist Chapter 68

Le Xiaowei hadn’t forgotten the main mission this time. Si had finally managed to secure her a big job, and she couldn’t afford to let him down.

After dealing with a few zombies, Le Xiaowei suppressed her disgust and dug into their heads, retrieving two or three small, glittering cubes—likely the energy cores of the zombies.

Holding them in her hand, she slowly absorbed their energy.

The area around the supermarket was still crawling with zombies, so Le Xiaowei didn’t dare wander too far. After all, her navigator was still alone inside the supermarket, and she had to return every half hour.

Since the absorption process was painfully slow, and after confirming that Yuan Qiaoqiao had no supernatural abilities, Le Xiaowei felt safe leaving the energy cores in the supermarket.

"Aren’t you afraid she’ll run off with them? Even if she can’t use them, she could give them to other ability users," Si couldn’t help but ask.

"How would she run? The supermarket’s in a dead-end alley, and I’m working right on this street. If she steps out, I’ll see her immediately."

"Between a zombie who can protect her and ability users who’d abandon her once the energy cores run out, she knows which to choose. Besides, she was already abandoned by her friends in that supermarket."

Le Xiaowei’s reasoning was flawless. The only reason she’d teamed up with Yuan Qiaoqiao was because the girl seemed smart.

It definitely wasn’t because she called her "sister" so sweetly.

Damn it. After always being the one calling others "sister," it felt great to finally be on the receiving end. Le Xiaowei was in an excellent mood.

After a busy afternoon, "Master Le" finally returned to the supermarket to rest. The small coffee table was now covered with energy cores—about thirty or forty of them, though most were tiny and some even transparent.

But the drop rate for these things was abysmally low. If not for the fact that zombies never tired, gathering so many energy cores would’ve been impossible for an ordinary person.

Yuan Qiaoqiao brought Le Xiaowei a basin of water, soap, and a fresh set of clothes.

"I found these in the supermarket."

Yuan Qiaoqiao had swapped her original JK uniform for a pink-and-white tracksuit. There was no helping it—she couldn’t find any black ones. Before this, she’d been hiding from zombies, barely catching her breath, and hadn’t slept properly in days.

"Alright, leave them there. You should go to sleep—it’s dark now."

Le Xiaowei glanced outside the glass doors. Even though she’d cleared out the zombies, distant growls still echoed through the night. They weren’t feeding—just unusually agitated.

When night fell, zombies inexplicably grew more excited. Even Le Xiaowei felt the urge to howl, but she suppressed it.

Damn it. How was anyone supposed to sleep in this world?

No eating, no sleeping—Le Xiaowei was truly miserable.

"Oh, sister, I forgot to introduce myself earlier. I’m Yuan Qiaoqiao, a high school senior from Lin City No. 14 High." Yuan Qiaoqiao scratched the back of her head, her cheeks faintly pink. After a comfortable half-day, she looked much healthier.

"Le Xiaowei. The ‘Wei’ as in ‘the only one.’ I’m a junior at Lin City University." Recalling the novel’s plot, Le Xiaowei narrowed her eyes slightly before extending a freshly washed hand.

"Then I’ll go to sleep first, sister. Oh, and thank you for saving me today." Yuan Qiaoqiao shook her hand.

She hadn’t noticed earlier, but this zombie sister must’ve been quite pretty in life—delicate features, refined looks. If not for the apocalypse, she wouldn’t have ended up like this.

What a shame.

With that thought, Yuan Qiaoqiao headed into the supermarket’s break room. It was clean—after all, the apocalypse had struck during the day, so no one had been sleeping there.

Finally, she could rest easy.

The moment her head hit the pillow, Yuan Qiaoqiao was out like a light, sleeping soundly without a care.

Meanwhile, Le Xiaowei sat outside, absorbing energy cores one by one. Unfortunately, the original Le Xiaowei’s ability had been spatial storage—useful for preserving food freshness, but utterly useless to her now.

If only she had an offensive ability—that would’ve been far more practical.

From dusk till dawn, Le Xiaowei finally finished absorbing all the energy cores. She was now a mid-tier advanced zombie. Her once grayish skin had faded, revealing fair, smooth flesh beneath.

When Yuan Qiaoqiao emerged, she saw a woman in pink-and-white athletic wear sitting on a small stool, counting self-heating hot pots.

Her delicate face was lost in thought, cascading black hair flowing down her back. Her flawless, pale skin carried a faint, unhealthy bluish tint, and beneath her long lashes gleamed deep, crimson eyes like still lake water.

"Sister?" Yuan Qiaoqiao blinked, almost failing to recognize the zombie woman from yesterday.

Zombies without self-awareness rarely attacked their own kind, so high-tier zombies were rare. And the few that existed—especially the attractive ones—had all ended up in Xiao Linfeng’s harem.

"Yeah, it’s me. I think we should get moving now."

With a wave of her hand, the self-heating hot pots vanished.

"Spatial ability? Sister, you’re amazing! You must’ve been an ability user before, right? Zombies with abilities are rare, especially spatial ones!" Yuan Qiaoqiao’s eyes sparkled with admiration.

"Not very useful for a zombie, though. Take whatever food you want. My space is about the size of two basketball courts—enough to fit everything in this supermarket. I’ve already packed the hot pots and instant noodles this morning."

"Check the expiration dates on the rest. As long as they’re still good, we can store them to save time on the road."

"Got it! Thank you, sister!" Yuan Qiaoqiao hadn’t expected this big sister to be so kind. It was obvious those supplies were stockpiled for her.

None of her so-called friends had treated her this well.

After a morning of work, Yuan Qiaoqiao had emptied the supermarket and its warehouse, leaving behind only the completely useless items. She’d even packed a generator.

To conceal the spatial ability, she left some compressed biscuits and instant noodles behind, filling her backpack to the brim before cautiously following Le Xiaowei to the car parked outside.

It belonged to the supermarket owner—Le Xiaowei had found the keys at the counter.

With her presence, ordinary zombies wouldn’t dare approach the vehicle.

Yuan Qiaoqiao took the wheel, her heart pounding every time zombies lurched near the car. But the moment the zombie sister in the backseat glanced up, they all scattered.

So cool.

Yuan Qiaoqiao’s eyes curved into happy crescents.

If they took the highway to S Province, the trip would take over ten hours. But with the roads in chaos and zombies everywhere, it’d likely take a week.

Le Xiaowei wasn’t in a hurry, but she was utterly miserable—unable to sleep or do much else, stuck in a state of relentless alertness. Eventually, she gave in and snatched the driving duties from Yuan Qiaoqiao.

Now sitting shotgun, Yuan Qiaoqiao watched the zombie sister speed down the road, feeling both small and terrified.

"Sister, if you’re doing my job, what am I supposed to do?"

At least let her feel somewhat useful. She wasn’t some freeloader—she couldn’t just sit around doing nothing.

"Just point the way. We'll get on the highway—once we're on it, you can go to sleep. Be good and listen to me, alright?"

Le Xiaowei gave Yuan Qiaoqiao's cat head a light pat.

Hurry up and cheer me on, love you all, wahhhh wahhhh.
