Yuan Qiaoqiao Side Story 03

How disgusting?

Little Wei genuinely couldn't guess.

In this world, there probably wasn't anything more revolting than Yuan Qiaoqiao.

But after just a few minutes of walking, Little Wei already wanted to leave this place.

The stench was absolutely suffocating—like it was trying to choke the life out of them. Even the isolation spheres Chi Mu had tossed over earlier were now coated in a layer of black, sticky gunk.

Little Wei felt like the three of them were walking human bombs.

If they stepped into an ordinary small world right now, they’d probably blow it up instantly.

"Can we change these bubbles?" Little Wei asked.

Chi Mu reflexively replied, "The three-dollar ones look nicer, but my penguin usually uses the minimalist mode."

This response left Little Wei utterly baffled.

What bubbles?

Not those bubbles. She had no idea what was going on in Chi Mu’s head. Handsome pigeon, utterly clueless.

"I meant these," Little Wei pointed at the bubble in front of her.

Chi Mu: "..."

Well, this was awkward.

But Chi Mu would never admit he was wrong.

"Hold on a little longer," Chi Mu said, throwing another layer over the two of them.

Bubble within a bubble. Yuan Qiaoqiao was speechless, and Little Wei was on the verge of tears.

"If this keeps up, I think we’re all going blind," Little Wei muttered, eyeing the black sludge with sheer misery.

She was even starting to feel physically nauseous.

This was seriously life-threatening.

"Don’t worry, we just need to get somewhere first, then I can fix it," Chi Mu said, pointing toward a small grove up ahead.

Little Wei couldn’t help but think Chi Mu’s choice of direction was a little too revealing of his true nature.

And he was bringing two people with him?

The scheming was so obvious, no one would believe it wasn’t intentional.

"What are you planning?" Little Wei narrowed her eyes. This guy was way too shady.

Taking her and Yuan Qiaoqiao into a small grove? That idea was way too dangerous. Absolutely not.

"The toxic fumes are lighter over there. It’s a better spot to change the barrier," Yuan Qiaoqiao finally spoke up, rare as it was.

Hearing this, Little Wei didn’t hesitate anymore.

She was on the verge of developing a full-blown phobia of filth. If she didn’t get relief soon, she’d literally die.

Thankfully, Chi Mu kept his word. Once they reached the grove, he waved his hand, and the bubbles detached from Little Wei and Yuan Qiaoqiao, collapsing limply to the side.

Just looking at the scene made Little Wei want to gag.

"Damn, that’s actually toxic," she choked out, covering her nose and mouth as she stumbled back, desperate to avoid inhaling the stench.

Chi Mu wrapped them in two larger bubbles.

But the effort clearly drained him—after just two moves, his face had gone pale.

Little Wei almost felt bad for him.

"If you keep this up, are you gonna turn into a complete weakling?"

Chi Mu: "?"

If Little Wei weren’t new here, he wouldn’t even bother with this nonsense.

"Actually..." Yuan Qiaoqiao spoke up again, "I brought a purification stone."

Chi Mu: "?"

Then Chi Mu and Little Wei watched as Yuan Qiaoqiao pulled out a faintly glowing silver stone, instantly enveloping all three of them in its light.

Chi Mu was convinced Yuan Qiaoqiao had done this on purpose. He’d been played.

Of course—he should’ve asked earlier. A massive corporation like Sky-Leap, which had frequented this place before, would naturally have ways to block the abysmal miasma.

The clown was him.

Yuan Qiaoqiao’s move left Little Wei at a loss for words.

"You did that on purpose, didn’t you?" she muttered under her breath.

Clueless pigeon.

Was bullying Chi Mu really necessary? Even Little Wei couldn’t stand it.

Yuan Qiaoqiao scoffed, her smile not reaching her eyes. "Keep siding with outsiders, then."

Little Wei: "..."

Ugh, what’s wrong with siding with outsiders?

Besides, Yuan Qiaoqiao was the one being unreasonable here.

"You made her mad. Aren’t you gonna comfort her?" Chi Mu remarked quietly.

Even though he was annoyed at being tricked, at least this meant he wouldn’t have to exhaust himself making isolation bubbles anymore.

Saved him a lot of trouble.

"Nope," Little Wei nearly laughed at Chi Mu’s suggestion.

Her, comfort Yuan Qiaoqiao?

With Yuan Qiaoqiao’s personality, the more you tried to placate her, the worse it got—and in the end, she’d be the one suffering.

As for Chi Mu?

He was just talking without understanding the consequences.

Little Wei wasn’t about to listen to him. She refused to be the unlucky one.

"Let her stay mad. The angrier she gets, the sooner we can bury her," Little Wei shot back at Chi Mu.

Chi Mu didn’t know how to respond except to call Little Wei a true warrior.

Most people wouldn’t dare do something like this.

But Yuan Qiaoqiao didn’t seem to have heard, which was a relief to Chi Mu.

He wasn’t ready to attend Little Wei’s funeral just yet.

With the pad guiding them, it took less than half an hour for the trio to locate the source of the demonic uprising. The area was crawling with monsters, so they had to stay low, crouching outside the thicket.

But Little Wei couldn’t help but cringe at the image they made.

It looked like the three of them were out here taking a group dump.

Nope. The mental image was too strong.

She shook her head violently to dispel the thought.

This was way too much.

"Which side do we approach from?" Little Wei whispered.

Since the three of them had zero teamwork, they had to plan ahead—otherwise, they’d all end up captured by the monsters.

"Is it that red gem?" Chi Mu raised a hand, his eyes flickering gold for a moment before he covered them, returning them to normal.

That move allowed him to detect the chaotic energy in the area.

It also doubled as a telescope.

"Destroying the source of the chaos will complete the mission," Yuan Qiaoqiao murmured before suddenly patting Little Wei’s shoulder.

The unexpected touch made Little Wei stumble, nearly face-planting into the bushes.

Seriously, what the hell?

"You go destroy the chaos source. This critical mission is yours. Chi Mu and I will lure the monsters away."

Little Wei: "???"

Before she could react, Yuan Qiaoqiao shoved the purification stone into her hands.

Her brain short-circuited.

"Good luck," Chi Mu gave her a pat and immediately bolted—in the opposite direction.

But these monsters, despite looking dumb with their cow-and-sheep-like appearances, weren’t so easily distracted.

Unless... someone deliberately stirred the pot.

BOOM—

A bomb went off. Little Wei crawled out of the bushes, covered in dirt, and had no idea who threw it, but she wished them a swift death.

Damn it!

This was literally life-threatening.

Did Gu Wei not deserve any dignity?

Cough cough. She looked up just in time to see Chi Mu fleeing the scene.

"Oops, my hand slipped," he called out before vanishing into the distance like a startled bird.

Grumbling, Little Wei pulled out her staff.
