Wang Wei could hardly believe it. At fifty-five years old, he had only come into contact with "Cleaners" ten years ago.
Ordinary people had no way of knowing about them—only someone like him, the top figure in the regional security team, had access to their contact information.
And even that contact was indirect, relayed through a middleman who would then notify the Cleaners.
Over the past decade, he had dealt with more than twenty Cleaners, but this was the first time he had ever encountered one so young who held the rank of Intermediate Cleaner.
As the woman approached, Wang Wei got a clear look at her appearance.
She stood just over 1.7 meters tall, with a slender figure and sharp, penetrating eyes that seemed capable of seeing through everything. Her entire demeanor exuded a heroic aura.
Her long black hair cascaded loosely, and her striking face lacked the delicate softness traditionally associated with women—instead, it carried a bold and spirited charm.
Pop!
Another bubble she had been blowing burst.
She walked up to Wang Wei and produced a small dark-red booklet from her person.
Wang Wei took it and immediately checked the details inside.
Jiang Huihui, Intermediate Cleaner, affiliated with the Eastern District Sanitation Department of Dragon Country.
The official seal stamped below confirmed its authenticity.
"Hello," Wang Wei greeted, returning the booklet to Jiang Huihui and giving her a respectful nod.
Jiang Huihui pocketed the booklet and then approached the corpse of Nine Fingers.
She bent down to examine it and remarked coolly, "It really is Nine Fingers—a low-ranking assassin on the Death List, a wanted individual by our Sanitation Department."
Wang Wei finally let out a sigh of relief. Now that the Cleaners had taken over, this matter was no longer his responsibility.
The younger members of his team standing nearby looked utterly bewildered.
A wanted individual by the Sanitation Department?
Wasn’t that just the department responsible for cleaning the streets? Did they even have the authority to issue warrants?
Maybe this guy had stolen a broom from a cleaner or something.
While they were still puzzling over it, Jiang Huihui slipped on a pair of black gloves. Her fingers probed the bullet hole in the corpse’s skull—then plunged straight in.
Crack!
The skull fractured.
A few of the younger officers gagged, their stomachs churning.
Using sheer brute force, Jiang Huihui pried out the two bullets lodged in Nine Fingers’ head.
She examined them closely before murmuring, ".50 AE caliber."
Then, she pulled out a transparent plastic bag from her person and dropped the bullets inside.
"The body is fresh. Tell me, did anything unusual happen here today?"
Jiang Huihui casually tossed the gloves onto the ground.
"Actually, something major did happen today," Wang Wei admitted.
He proceeded to recount the incident Xu Mu had reported earlier, leaving nothing out.
Jiang Huihui chewed her bubble gum quietly as she listened.
When he finished, she gave a slight nod. "Understood. Stand down—we’ll handle this from here. Just follow our instructions from now on."
"Got it," Wang Wei agreed, more than eager to wash his hands of the matter.

Xu Mu had already returned to his villa, where Meng Wanyue and Ye Tong were waiting.
He gave Ye Tong a brief rundown of the events, carefully omitting any mention of his fight with Nine Fingers—he didn’t want her to worry.
He had invited Meng Wanyue over to help remove the surveillance cameras installed around the place.
With the Lin Yang situation temporarily resolved, he couldn’t afford to let himself be monitored at all times.
After dinner, Xu Mu let Meng Wanyue leave.
Once he had eaten his fill, he checked the time—it wasn’t even 8 PM yet. He wondered if going to bed now would be too early.
But with nothing else to do, he was about to suggest Ye Tong retire for the night when his phone rang.
He pulled it out and glanced at the screen.
Feng Yue again.
Xu Mu hesitated for a moment before answering the call. "What's up?"
"Today, I want to thank you—even though saving me wasn’t your intention," Feng Yue said from the other end of the line.
"No need. We’re old acquaintances, after all."
Xu Mu spoke into the phone. "Get some rest. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up."
"I’m at the entrance of your villa complex," Feng Yue replied.
Hearing this, Xu Mu smirked. "What now? Planning to team up with Lin Yang to screw me over again?"
"Stop mocking me. This time, I’ve made up my mind."
Feng Yue let out a bitter laugh on the other end.
Xu Mu hesitated but decided to go see her—at least Feng Yue now knew her place.
If she wanted to talk, she had to come to him.
Not like before, where she’d summon Xu Mu like calling a dog.
"Who was that?"
Ye Tong had just finished washing the dishes and walked out of the kitchen with a smile.
"Feng Yue, the bar owner," Xu Mu answered without hiding anything. "She said she wants to thank me for saving her today. She’s waiting at the gate."
"Then go."
Ye Tong shrugged.
"It’s late at night, and you’re fine with that?" Xu Mu rolled his eyes.
"Of course I am."
Ye Tong wouldn’t mind if Xu Mu stuffed himself outside—it’d give her a few days off.
Xu Mu still decided to go and see what Feng Yue was up to.
When he reached the entrance of the villa complex, he spotted a Porsche Cayenne parked not far away.
With a quick scan of his senses, he confirmed Feng Yue was the only one inside.
He walked over and, as usual, took the back seat.
"So, what do you want?" Xu Mu asked calmly.
Feng Yue drove off, heading to an underground garage nearby.
Just like before, she parked in a secluded corner, got out, and slid into the back seat beside him.
Once settled, she hit the lock button on her key fob, sealing them inside.
"Xu Mu, I’m leaving," Feng Yue said, her gaze fixed on him.
In the cramped space of the car, her breathing was loud enough for him to hear.
"Leaving? What do you mean?" Xu Mu asked.
"I’m moving away from Jiang City. This was never my home to begin with."
Feng Yue’s hand rested on Xu Mu’s thigh. "Honestly, I never saw you as a good person. But who knew everyone else I met turned out worse than you?"
"I’ll take that as a compliment."
Xu Mu pushed her hand away. "Don’t do that. It makes me nervous."
Feng Yue withdrew her hand, her expression unreadable. "I’ve thought about this for a long time. I owe you, and I’ve decided to repay it."
"Let’s say your life is worth 30 million. Add in all the miscellaneous expenses I’ve covered for you—just give me 50 million."
Xu Mu pulled out his phone and glanced at her. "Wire it directly."
"I don’t have that kind of money," Feng Yue said flatly.
"Then how do you plan to repay me?"
"With me."
Feng Yue stared straight into his eyes.
Xu Mu threw his head back and laughed before waving her off. "Feng Yue, do you really think I’m that stupid? That I’d do anything just for your pretty face?"
He wasn’t the same Xu Mu from before—and certainly not the old Qian Gang.
Knowing Feng Yue, she probably wanted to use her body to manipulate him into doing her another favor.
"This is just repayment. No conditions," Feng Yue said, her face blank.
"Is that so?"
Xu Mu didn’t believe it at all. He studied Feng Yue as if watching a clown’s performance. “I admit you’re eloquent, but eloquence alone isn’t enough. Eloquence means nothing.”
Feng Yue’s bewitching eyes flickered with surprise for just a moment, but without hesitation, she began to showcase her silver tongue.
Xu Mu was stunned. He couldn’t believe Feng Yue would actually dare to do this.
…
By the time Xu Mu returned to his villa, it was already half past ten at night.
Watching Feng Yue’s car disappear into the distance, he fell into deep thought.
Through his heightened senses, he caught a glimpse of her inside the vehicle—crying, her sorrow raw and unrestrained.
But soon, the car sped out of his sensory range.
Even now, he couldn’t understand why Feng Yue had acted this way.
Xu Mu stood there, hesitating for a long while, before finally dialing Feng Yue’s number—only to hear the automated voice informing him her phone was off.
Without delay, he headed to his underground garage, revved up his Lamborghini, and sped toward Feng Yue’s bar.
He wanted answers face to face. But when he arrived, the bar’s lights were dark, and a crowd had gathered outside, murmuring in confusion.
Parked by the curb, Xu Mu’s gaze locked onto the two large characters plastered across the bar’s entrance: “For Sale.”
