Chen Cai's Cry for Help

Lu Xueyao nodded, though she wasn’t quite sure why.

Ever since Xu Mu helped her last time, it felt like she’d had some sort of awakening.

Compared to studying, she found herself more interested in these so-called underworld affairs.

Xu Mu stood with his hands in his pockets, staring at Lu Xueyao, his mind deep in thought.

Maybe this girl actually had some potential.

“Xu Mu, don’t be mad. I know I was wrong. From now on, I’ll keep my distance from them. Before graduation, I promise I’ll study hard.”

Lu Xueyao noticed Xu Mu was still glaring at her and suddenly felt a bit flustered. “Or… how about we just book a room? You can punish me however you want.”

Xu Mu sighed helplessly. This Lu Xueyao really did want to book a room every time they met; she said it at least once.

“I’m not mad. I’m just worried about your safety. I’m giving you two things—take them tonight after you get home.”

Xu Mu pulled out two pills from his storage space: the Qi Gathering Pill and the Marrow Cleansing Pill.

This was his plan all along. Since she was genuinely interested in this world, he’d give her some power.

Let’s see how far she could go.

If she could become a dominant underground leader, it would definitely benefit Xu Mu as well.

“Xu Mu, what are these?” Lu Xueyao asked curiously.

“They boost your strength. I’ll send you detailed instructions later. Just know this—I won’t harm you.”

After saying that, Xu Mu waved his hand. “I’ve got things to do. You can pursue whatever you like from now on, as long as it’s legal, I’ll support you.”

[Affection +20]

Lu Xueyao watched Xu Mu get into the car before putting the pills away.

She trusted Xu Mu completely, even though these two pills had significant side effects.

But as long as Xu Mu told her to take them, she wouldn’t hesitate.

Xu Mu leaned back in the rear seat, closing his eyes for a short nap.

At this point, his strength was steadily increasing.

You could tell from his recent fight with Lin Yang.

The protagonist possessed a powerful destiny force, which could turn the tide in dangerous moments.

But if the enemy was strong enough, they could still crush the protagonist.

Lin Yang was like that, and so would the Dragon King be.

Without realizing it, Xu Mu fell asleep. He hadn’t slept all night and needed some rest.

When Xu Mu opened his eyes, he found the car had already stopped.

Rubbing his eyes, he looked out the window and saw they’d arrived at the Yang City branch office.

“Wanyue, why didn’t you wake me?” he yawned.

“Boss Xu, you were sleeping so soundly,” Meng Wanyue said from the front seat.

“Yeah, I really did sleep well.”

Xu Mu stretched vigorously and got out of the car.

He took out his phone and called the Feng family. After a few busy signals, Feng Jian finally answered.

“Young Master Xu, you’re in Yang City?” Feng Jian asked excitedly.

“That’s right. Come to our branch office—I’ll give you the pills first,” Xu Mu replied.

“Alright!” Feng Jian’s voice was full of excitement.

Xu Mu and Meng Wanyue entered the company lobby, and from a distance, Li Yun immediately walked over.

She was still dressed in a tight black office suit, the buttons straining against her chest.

As she approached, it seemed like something terrifying was about to burst free from the confines of her outfit.

“Xiao Mu.”

Li Yun approached Xu Mu with concern. "The chairman called me yesterday. Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. My phone just died yesterday," Xu Mu replied, offering a casual excuse without going into detail.

Li Yun nodded. She had been worried sick the entire night and barely slept.

After chatting briefly, Xu Mu's phone buzzed.

Seeing it was a call from Feng Jian, he stood up and headed outside.

Xu Mu told Meng Wanyue to wait for him in the car while he walked to the company’s main entrance.

Feng Jian had just jumped down from his Aston Martin and was quickly jogging toward Xu Mu.

"Young Master Xu! Where’s my medicine?" Feng Jian asked, rubbing his hands together with a smile.

Xu Mu handed over three pills he had casually prepared earlier.

Feng Jian immediately took out a bottle and carefully placed the pills inside.

Today was not the day for half-measures—after holding back for so many days, he was determined to make rapid progress.

"Oh, by the way, I secretly gave my mom a Little Genius smartwatch that can make calls. I’m dialing her now, and you can talk to her yourself," Feng Jian said, pulling out his phone. After making the call, he handed the phone over to Xu Mu.

"Hello, Feng Jian..."

"Speaking," Xu Mu interrupted Chen Cai’s voice on the other end.

Hearing Xu Mu’s voice, Chen Cai was instantly overwhelmed with emotion.

She hadn’t expected Feng Kang to be so bold—to actually kill Dai Xiao.

If that happened, Feng Kang might really get rid of her next.

She was terrified.

Chen Cai didn’t trust Feng Ruili; he was always calculating and expected returns on everything.

If Feng Ruili helped her, what benefit could she possibly offer him? None.

But Xu Mu was different. Xu Mu had saved her, so she could find a way to provide him with dirt on Feng Kang.

That was a fair trade.

"Xu Mu, please save me. I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have threatened you back then," Chen Cai pleaded, her voice trembling with tears. Xu Mu was the only lifeline she could think of.

"Madam, how do you expect me to save you?" Xu Mu smiled. "The Feng family’s security is tight, and they’ve become a secretive clan. You want me to walk into a trap?"

"You must have a way! You can install cameras in the Feng estate without anyone noticing. There has to be a way to get me out, right?" Chen Cai choked on her words.

"Would saving you even help? Feng Kang is eager to see you dead. Do you have the ability to help me find his secrets?" Xu Mu countered. "Stop dreaming."

"I can," Chen Cai insisted. "I still have contacts who worked for Feng Kang. I can definitely gather evidence."

Hearing this, Xu Mu felt a flicker of interest.

He glanced at Feng Jian, who was still grinning foolishly nearby, then said flatly, "If I get you out, what about your son? Won’t he be in danger?"

"No," Chen Cai said. Right now, she only cared about saving herself. She didn’t think about anyone else.

"Alright then, I’ll get you out. Just wait patiently," Xu Mu said, ending the call and tossing the phone back to Feng Jian. "Your mom wants me to save her."

"Save her?"

Feng Jian’s face immediately darkened.

If his mother ran away, Feng Kang would never let him off the hook.

“Are you going to save her or not?” Xu Mu asked.

Feng Jian was truly torn. After all, this was his own mother.

Although she could be strict, Chen Cai had done a lot—mostly helping him fight for the family inheritance.

“Xu Shao, can’t we save her a little later?”

Feng Kang’s face suddenly grew serious.

“What’s wrong?”

Xu Mu was puzzled.

“I want to go to the club and really let loose. After this, there might not be many chances left.”

Feng Jian said seriously to Xu Mu.

Xu Mu didn’t know what to say and finally gave Feng Jian a thumbs-up.

This guy must really be at his wit’s end.

“By the way, did a new person come to your place? A woman, decent figure, but her face was covered in acne scars.”

Xu Mu suddenly asked.

“Yes. I heard she arrived at my house this morning, then left shortly after.”

Feng Jian remembered clearly. At first, seeing her back, he thought she was some stunning beauty.

But when he saw her face, all feeling vanished instantly.

“I’m going to save your mom right now.”

Xu Mu suddenly looked at Feng Jian.

“Xu... Shao, you’re not also involved with my mom, are you?”

Feng Jian’s words came out haltingly.
