The Final Battle

Thunder blades easily beheaded the mortal's head. The cut oozed aroma and heat.

Charles looked up. With 41 points, he steadily ranked first. The second place, Wen Anran, only had 27 points. The third place, San Zhenghe, had less than 20 points.

However, only 7 people survived.

In any case, no one could catch up to his score. To win, the rest must kill him.

"Who will come first?" Looking at the bracelet in his palm, Charles smiled self-mockingly, "Can this really let me leave the trial ground directly? If I put hope in this, I'll never become the strongest."

Thunder gathered in Charles' palm, like a storm in his hand. He would destroy this bracelet.

The thunder came and went, disappearing quickly. Charles finally put the bracelet back into his pocket.

"It would be a pity to destroy it."

"Don't run. Your blood smells too strong. Even if you jump into the river, I can still find you," Li Changan said, leaning against the door frame and holding a dagger.

The city had everything. This dagger was a pleasant surprise, made by some company before doomsday. Besides being too light, it had no flaws.

Lightness was the flaw to Li Changan.

The retreating man had over ten stab wounds, each aimed at fatal points.

"Damn, how do you have this ability! If not for your sneak attack, you'd certainly die!" The man gritted his remaining teeth as he spoke.

"Think what you will," Li Changan shrugged and slowly approached. About three steps away, he suddenly sidestepped the man's final desperate attack.

In just a second, the dagger struck out twice, removing the man's arm.

Before the man could scream, Li Changan covered his mouth, then swiftly stabbed his thigh, completely crippling his four limbs.

"Done," Li Changan said, taking out his earpieces, "Come over."

Soon, only 6 people remained in the sky. Wen Anran's points also rose to 28.

Sitting by the bonfire, Li Changan wiped blood off his dagger while Wen Anran boredly tended the flames. Weapon maintenance was vital. Although he had spares.

"Now there's 6 left. Apart from you and me, there's Charles and San Zhenghe. Just two others. Do we need to make another move?" This trial was completely different from Wen Anran's imagination.

It should have been chasing, hiding, thrilling and dangerous. Perhaps hitting death's door or even certain doom, but he wouldn't regret finding Li Changan for safety.

Yet now he could only hide like a dried salted fish, waiting for Li Changan to nearly kill the opponent before going up to finish them.

This wasn't the life he wanted!

Li Changan shook his head and seriously said, "We can't make a move. The last two are either very strong or good at hiding. Your name is already on the board. We can't become targets. Now we must find a place."

"A place we can kill Charles."

After 7 days of combat, the city was thoroughly ruined. No more rooftop battles, but Charles could still fly. Li Changan had to make him stay closer to the ground.

Wen Anran would finish this fight. His 3 unused bullets were prepared just for Charles.

Li Changan's caution made him leave the other 2 alone. He also needed rest after days of fighting. After Wen Anran chose a safe spot, he closed his eyes against a broken wall.

Wen Anran set up his sniper rifle from a distance, far enough that their partnership wouldn't be obvious.

"He really did fall asleep," Wen Anran smiled slightly, examining Li Changan through the scope.

With the current situation, my final trial may be a bit weak since over half the points weren't from my own hands. So I must personally defeat Charles without waiting until he's weak.

But even so, would it be enough? I'm uncertain about gaining points from the other two. My ability indicates fortune. Should I try?

Glancing at Li Changan again, Wen Anran frowned. If I leave now, he may get ambushed.

Forget it. Since I promised to keep watch, I shouldn't break my word. I'll skip those 2 points for now!

Four hours later, Li Changan awoke just as he said, not even snoring or changing position. Wen Anran even wondered if he was actually sleeping or just resting with closed eyes.

After splashing water on his face, Li Changan looked up. One less survivor overnight.

Time to get to work! Li Changan smiled, turning on his earpiece and asking, "Want to rest first? We still have time."

"No need. Slept on your back yesterday. Quite awake now."

Then let's go!

Wen Anran's points dropped by 3.

The 3 points showed the locations of the others. Charles was slightly further while San Zhenghe and the last one seemed about to meet.

Naturally, the last one was left to San Zhenghe. Carrying Wen Anran, Li Changan raced towards Charles.

He discarded his old dagger for a rubber baton. His goal wasn't to kill Charles but create an opportunity for Wen Anran.

With the [Law God] ability, controlling elements and infinite psychic power, he could sense any being with a psyche within a certain range.

So Li Changan didn't immediately approach Charles, stopping about 200 meters away within sight. This was Wen Anran's battlefield while his was within 3 steps of Charles.

"Don't waste your 3 bullets. Help me get closer if I really can't. Otherwise, only fire when sure of hitting him." Li Changan repeatedly reminded him.

Wen Anran firmly nodded. This would decide the outcome.

On the other side of the city, San Zhenghe looked at his opponent shrouded in endless light.

"Light element mastery? They say you can reach near light speed." San Zhenghe sheathed his blade.

"Let's see if my blade or light itself is faster."
