The Triumvirate Council

The first week after the seal was repaired.

Early morning.

Just as Yi Shuangzi was conversing in Chen Miemie's home.

Sixiang City, which should have been quiet in the dead of night, was exceptionally bustling.

The seal was repaired, and the city's martial law was lifted.

The previous three weeks hadn't had much of an impact on Mystics like Chen Miemie.

For ordinary citizens, however, aside from a few essential municipal roles, the entire city had effectively halted all work and production. Travel was restricted, incomes were cut off, and people could at most wander around their own apartment buildings. They were completely suffocated.

With the restrictions suddenly lifted, people didn't care if it was the middle of the night. Every household, bringing along their families, ran out to breathe the air of freedom.

The peripheral members of the municipal government and the societies were also very busy.

After three weeks of fighting, especially the final week, destructive scenes left behind by the battles were everywhere. In some places, flesh, blood, and intestines were literally scattered all over the ground. They hadn't had the energy to deal with it before, but now all of this needed to be cleaned up.

They didn't feel it during the fight, but once it was over, they realized there were far too many issues to resolve.

City Hall.

The small conference room commonly used by the Triumvirate.

Chief Sun held the battle damage statistics report, his face grave.

President An, who had appeared full of vigor outside, stopped pretending the moment he entered the conference room. Unable to even stand steady, he immediately sat down in a chair, looking incredibly weak.

Director Deng wasn't doing much better. The white-haired man showed traces of exhaustion on his face, appearing as though he couldn't keep up his energy.

During the recently passed [Day of No Tomorrow], while others were resting at home, these three had gotten no rest at all.

They had so many urgent matters on hand that they couldn't finish processing them, leaving them without even the time to sleep.

"Old An, how are you doing? How much longer can you hold on?"

President An waved his hand. "I won't die yet, but I'm already making arrangements for the election of the new president."

Chief Sun felt a heavy weight in his heart. He genuinely didn't want President An to step down at a time like this.

On one hand, he was truly worried about President An's condition. After all, having worked together as a team for ten years, there was a certain level of camaraderie between them.

On the other hand, President An belonged to the faction that tended to support him. Back when he first rose to power, and later when he secured his position, President An had provided a great deal of support.

"Is there no way to cure it? Not even [Mystery] works?" Director Deng spoke up.

President An shook his head. "That strike from the Bloodkin back then was meant to take me down with him. It damaged my very origin this time. Just surviving is already a stroke of luck."

"Sigh, that's true. Then go and enjoy a peaceful retirement."

Chief Sun and Director Deng were actually quite curious about who President An's successor would be. However, since this was an internal matter of the Society Alliance and President An hadn't brought it up himself, it meant he didn't want anyone else interfering before the results were out.

"Let's get down to business then," Chief Sun said, setting down the battle damage report.

"For the time being, it seems Sixiang City has passed the danger zone. [That One] has only been watching from the sidelines and hasn't intervened."

The three people present all knew exactly who Chief Sun meant by [That One].

[That One] was the [Huangyi] who had once appeared at City Hall to declare the establishment of the [Everlasting Moon] society, also known as the leader of the new era's new race.

What the Triumvirate had always worried about most wasn't actually the foreign races breaking the seal.

Sixiang City was a human city, and humans were one of the strongest races. There might be various concerns before a fight, but if the seal truly broke and the foreign races insisted on an all-out war, humanity could take them on. It was still uncertain who would win or lose.

What the Triumvirate feared most was the new race personally stepping in and announcing their intent to conquer Sixiang City.

Setting everything else aside, just facing the [Huangyi] they saw that night alone, it could be said that no one in the entire Sixiang City was a match for it.

Even more terrifying was a hidden unspoken rule within the World of a Hundred Cities.

The first city conquered by a new race of the new era upon their first move would be recognized as that race's city of survival. By default, the original owners were not allowed to fight back and reclaim it.

The reasoning was simple: as a new race already acknowledged by the Sun and Moon, they were new members of the civilized world and had the right to sit at the table and share the cake. Who would dare leave them without even a place to settle down?

"But what does it mean that they've been holding their forces back all this time? I feel that its choice to establish a society in Sixiang City is definitely not without reason," Director Deng said, not sharing the same optimism.

President An spoke in a weak voice, "If we can't figure it out, let's put it aside for now. They haven't made a move yet, so what's the use of wild guessing? If they really do attack, we wouldn't be able to stop them with our current strength anyway."

"Then what do we do? Do nothing and prepare nothing? We can't just passively let them do whatever they want."

The topic hit a dead end.

"Has Bishop Jing been found?" President An started a new topic.

"He was fully prepared and had too many backup plans. The people tracking him died after following him out of the city, and he disappeared as well. However, it is certain that he has left Sixiang City.

As for the other one, Doctor Hua, someone actually saw him in a homeless stronghold."

"How strong is Doctor Hua? He seemed like a cautious and careful person to me. I can't believe he leaked his whereabouts so quickly."

"He is very strong, at least at [Mystery] 4. He actually discovered the witness, but instead of silencing them, he let the person go."

"I heard that several powerful families want this Doctor Hua dead."

Chief Sun gave a cold snort. "Whoever wants him dead can do it themselves. I can't be bothered to argue with those people. During the city's crisis, they weren't willing to risk their lives, but the moment things settle down, they jump out to show their presence."

President An gave a bitter smile.

"Look at you, is that something a politician should say? And to think you've been a city chief for ten years. No wonder so many families have a problem with you. There must be quite a few people trying to impeach you this time."

Director Deng also sighed. "More than just a few. They are holding onto the leverage of the [Chief]'s niece colluding with the enemy and won't let go. They are on the verge of outright demanding his resignation, and some are even secretly inciting the citizens."

Chief Sun gritted his teeth. "If they want me to step down, I'll take them out before I go."

Though the three of them spoke this way, nobody was actually worried that Chief Sun would be ousted.

The giant seats of the Triumvirate were not merely won through elections.

To sit in the position of a giant, the individual had to be strong themselves, and the power behind them had to be able to suppress all kinds of monsters and demons.

From a city's perspective, there weren't many super-factions like that.

The Municipal Government, the Society Alliance, the Academy, and the Sun and Moon Church were the true behemoths. The other powerful families still fell a bit short.

Unless Chief Sun lost his position within the municipal government, who could kick someone from the municipality out of the game?

When Chen Miemie woke up, it was noon again.

He had gradually grown accustomed to his biological clock of sleeping late, waking up late, and being active at night.

After eating something simple, he went downstairs and summoned a sedan chair with a snap of his fingers.

He was planning to go to his teacher Dawn's house to discuss some matters.

Unexpectedly, his appearance was immediately spotted by Old Li from the fruit shop.

Old Li let out a loud shout, "Our hero, Chen Miemie is here!"

The sedan chair was instantly surrounded so tightly that not even a drop of water could leak through.

The neighbors and passing pedestrians stared at Chen Miemie one by one, as if watching a gorilla in a zoo.

Chen Miemie gave a reserved, light cough. "Those who want autographs, please line up."

People couldn't figure out why he wanted their signatures, but thinking that "extraordinary people do extraordinary things," everyone was very cooperative.

Chen Miemie smugly took out a pen with a four-leaf clover and began to write with a flourish.

The artistic level of the signature was so high that he probably wouldn't even be able to recognize it himself later.

After a long time of commotion, the crowd gradually dispersed.

Chen Miemie's hands were stuffed with a large bag of fruit by Old Li. This time, Old Li was very generous, stuffing it with high-value and precious varieties.

He had just gotten into the sedan chair, and his heart was still warm, feeling a bit of comfort from being loved.

But then, Old Li's shouting could be heard from not far away:

"Come, come, come, take a look as you pass by, the fruit that the city hero Chen Miemie says is good after eating, don't miss it~"

Chen Miemie dropped the curtain of the sedan chair with dark lines on his face: "Sedan chair, let's go quickly."

Twenty minutes later.

Chen Miemie entered Dawn's house.

"Teacher, look, I came, and I didn't come empty-handed. I specially prepared a large bag of fruit. You have to give me some good news."

Cassan took the fruit bag from Chen Miemie's hand, beaming with joy: "Miemie is the most thoughtful."

Dawn was a bit suspicious. When Chen Miemie came over, it was polite enough if he didn't casually take a few fruits with him. Was the sun rising in the west today?

As soon as Chen Miemie sat down.

Dawn didn't say any polite words and went straight to the main topic of discussion.

"The presidential election of the Association Alliance, I will represent the [Silver Moon Court] to run for the election."
