Am I the Moon

Slowly opening his eyes, he saw an unfamiliar ceiling.

There was a slight, dull pain in the back of his head.

Chen Miemie struggled to sit up from the bed, propping himself up to lean against the headboard.

"Did I... transmigrate?"

The aesthetic here was clearly not of his original world. The surrounding walls were painted in the colors of the cosmos, looking like a slowly flowing, dreamy starry sky.

The ceiling shared the same starry background, and right in the center above his head was a painted motif of a yellow moon.

Even though it was clearly just a painted moon, it faintly emitted a pale yellow moonlight, providing illumination for the room.

The window was very strange; it was positioned high up near the roof, flat and long like a curved eyebrow. Through it, the moon in the sky could be seen.

Chen Miemie pursed his lips. The corners of his mouth were slightly moist, suggesting he had drunk water not long ago.

He carefully examined his surroundings.

This was a bedroom of about fifteen square meters.

The layout was very simple: a single bed, a nightstand with a half-empty glass of water, a desk, and a chair.

As Chen Miemie got out of bed, he reached out to touch the painful spot on the back of his head, trying to search his mind for some memories.

When his right hand touched the back of his head, he could feel a large, swollen bump. Right in the center of the bump was a small, hard point. When he pulled his hand back, there was a smear of blood on his fingers.

"Things are a bit bad. I can't remember anything."

He opened the bedroom door and walked out into the living room.

Furniture like a sofa, a coffee table, and a dining table were all present. Judging by the number of doors, this was a two-bedroom apartment.

"A two-bedroom apartment? Does that mean I might not be the only one living here?"

Chen Miemie observed his surroundings. The living room, bathroom, and kitchen were all in plain sight, leaving only one last room with a closed door.

Before Chen Miemie could even turn the doorknob.

The door was opened from the inside.

The person who opened it was a young woman.

She had long, silver-gray hair that fell softly over her shoulders. She was tall and slender, with fair skin and vibrant, light green eyes.

She had a soft oval face, and even when she wasn't smiling, a faint dimple could be seen near her mouth.

She wore a slightly rustic work uniform, yet she still managed to make it look fashionable.

As she opened the door, she was in the middle of putting a hat on her head, seemingly about to go out.

Facing such a beauty, Chen Miemie's heart tightened.

He had absolutely no memory of who this person was.

When the beautiful girl in workwear saw Chen Miemie standing at the door, a flash of surprise crossed her eyes, disappearing as quickly as it came.

"Are... are you okay?" The girl seemed concerned, but her tone was rather flat, as if she was intentionally suppressing her emotions.

"Me? Not really. The back of my head hurts a bit." Chen Miemie subconsciously touched the back of his head.

"You don't remember what happened before?" the girl probed, glancing at the bloodstain on the back collar of Chen Miemie's shirt.

"Yeah, my head hurts and I can't remember clearly. Who... are you?"

The girl stared at Chen Miemie for three whole seconds, seemingly trying to determine if he truly had amnesia.

After three seconds, she suddenly smiled. "You actually forgot your own older sister!"

"Older sister?"

"Of course! Who else could I be? Look at you, did you bump your head? Honestly, I still have to take care of you."

While talking, the girl directly pulled Chen Miemie over to sit on the sofa. Then she walked behind him, seemingly inspecting the large bump on the back of his head.

Her gentle fingers pressed against the back of Chen Miemie's head like a massage. They felt icy cool and very comfortable.

"Do you know how you got this injury?"

Chen Miemie shook his head. "I don't remember."

"Does it hurt like this?" The girl's cold finger gently pressed on the hard point in the middle of the large bump on the back of his head.

"It hurts a little when you press it, but it's not severe."

"I see. Come on, lie down. I'll rub it for you a bit more, and then I'll treat it in a moment."

At first, the patient, Chen Miemie, was uncooperative. He still had a belly full of questions he wanted to figure out.

However, this older sister, despite her seemingly slender arms, actually had the strength of an ox. She pinned him down in one fell swoop, resting his head on her lap.

With his head resting on her plump thighs, Chen Miemie couldn't see the expression on the girl's face due to the angle.

"Honestly, you've injured your head, why are you still thrashing around?" The girl's massaging fingers paused slightly. "Can your Mystic Prototype heal you this quickly?"

"Mystic Prototype? What is that?"

"Hey, if you keep pretending, your sister is going to get angry!"

"But I really don't remember."

"Really?"

"Really."

"Then you better remember it well this time. A Mystic Prototype is the initial, foundational state of an ability before one becomes a Mystic, just like an egg before it becomes a chick. You should be able to use it easily. Want to try it now?"

"I can't feel this 'egg' you're talking about in my body."

"Try a few more times. Focus your mind and project your power into the palms of your hands."

After trying several times, Chen Miemie shook his head. "I don't feel anything at all."

The girl had been observing his expression all along. Finally confirming that he wasn't faking it, the corners of her mouth curled up. "You can't use it? Great. Let the new round of massage begin."

Her fingers suddenly exerted force, directly yanking out the small black point from the bump on the back of Chen Miemie's head.

It was actually a nail the length of a finger!

Chen Miemie's vision went black, and he plunged into darkness.

An unknown amount of time passed.

Chen Miemie regained consciousness once more.

This time, his field of vision had completely changed.

He had sight, but he couldn't see his own body. His viewing angle was looking down at the earth from high up in the sky.

The earth he gazed down upon at this moment was a scattered array of lights, somewhat like the feeling of looking down at a city from an airplane in his past life.

Individual people were like little black dots; vehicles driving on the roads were like busy little ants; brightly lit buildings were like fireflies in a field.

Chen Miemie inspected over a dozen cities in a row.

"This is a bit boring. I'd better figure out where I am. Concentrate... I want to... see myself clearly!"

When he truly hardened his resolve, he actually saw himself.

"This... this is!!!" Chen Miemie exclaimed.

It was an incredibly massive yellow celestial body.

"Isn't this the yellow moon that was hanging in the sky just now!"

The moon was huge, incredibly huge. If the entire world he had just seen were packaged up and placed onto this celestial body, it would probably only be equivalent to an island in the ocean.

The surface of the yellow celestial body was covered in craters, showing no traces of civilization, and it emitted a pale yellow glow as a whole.

Chen Miemie's consciousness unnaturally twisted its waist, and the entire yellow planet immediately accelerated its rotation. After he stopped the movement, the planet returned to its original speed.

"Me? Did I transmigrate into this moon?"

All of a sudden, Chen Miemie became excited.

He rubbed a certain spot on his body, and a massive mountain range on the yellow planet was instantly twisted like playdough into a braid.

He cracked his knuckles, and earthquakes immediately erupted on the planet.

He was like a toddler learning to walk, fumbling around to see what he could do.

Time seemed to lose its meaning here. He might have been exploring for a long time, or perhaps just a short while.

At a certain moment, he felt a slight itch at the back of his head, which triggered his memories from just moments ago.

"I remember waking up in an unfamiliar room just now, and I even met a young girl? Was I dreaming before? I need to figure out the situation. Can I return to the state I was in just now?"

As he made the attempt, the moon "closed" its "eyes."

The next instant.

He was back in the living room of the two-bedroom apartment.

He was no longer on the sofa, but rather laid out on a rectangular dining table.

"To think you could actually wake up! It seems you are a bit special." The beautiful girl's voice rang out. She was holding a bloodstained nail in her hand.

"Huh?" Chen Miemie tried to get up but couldn't.

His hands, feet, and neck were tightly bound by iron chains from out of nowhere. His entire body was spread-eagled flat across the dining table.

The moonlight from outside the window shone down on him.

He tried to struggle a bit. The iron chains clattered softly, but he could not break free.

"Sister, why do you have me tied up?"

Seeing that he could not break free, the beautiful girl let go of her last trace of doubt.

She dropped the fake smile from her face:

"Very good. You really aren't a true mystic. I am already tired of this sibling role-playing game.

Before I send you on your way, let me introduce myself. My name is Ash, and I am an assassin."
