Unlike other universities where each course has its own classroom, Shangqing University assigns fixed classrooms for lectures.
As the class dismissal bell rang, Lin Xuan was still sound asleep, waiting for the next lecture to begin.
Lin Xuan was now a prominent figure at Shangqing University, though he rarely appeared on campus. His arrival today caused quite a stir—even the Principal overheard two professors discussing it.
"What? You're saying Lin Xuan is here?" The Principal's face lit up with excitement.
"Yes, he arrived over an hour ago," the female professor nodded, eyeing the Principal with curiosity.
Why was the Principal reacting so strongly to Lin Xuan's presence?
"Perfect!" The Principal's eyes gleamed. "I need to find him right away."
The female professor frowned. "Principal, has something happened?"
"Nothing major," the Principal replied. "Lin Xuan is graduating from Shangqing University in a month. I want to have a serious talk with him—to convince him to stay."
Over the past year, Lin Xuan's fame had skyrocketed—first from winning the National College Computer Team Competition, and then as the head of Tianmu Group. His reputation had even elevated Shangqing University's standing.
Lin Xuan had also recruited many students from Shangqing University to work at Tianmu Group.
Other universities couldn’t help but envy Shangqing for having a student like him.
Most importantly, Lin Xuan's presence had drawn Su Hua's attention to the university, leading to substantial additional investments.
As the Principal who facilitated Su Hua's affairs, his salary and bonuses had increased significantly.
How could he possibly let such a prized student graduate so easily?
No matter what, he had to keep Lin Xuan here.
"I won’t waste time—I need to find Lin Xuan before he slips away," the Principal declared before striding toward Lin Xuan's classroom.
In an unobserved moment, he even broke into a run, disregarding his usual dignified demeanor.
By the time the Principal reached the classroom, the bell for the second lecture had just rung.
A professor hurried inside, eager to begin.
Earlier, he had overheard Professor Wang in the office mentioning how Lin Xuan had solved several complex computer problems for him. The idea had intrigued him—perhaps he could do the same and get Lin Xuan to clarify some of his own doubts.
"Class, today we’ll be covering—" Problem-solving lecture.
Before he could finish, the Principal appeared at the door.
"Principal," Professor Chen stepped out. "Is there something you need?"
"Nothing urgent. I’m just here to see someone," the Principal replied.
Professor Chen raised an eyebrow. "Who?"
"Lin Xuan."
Professor Chen's smile stiffened.
The Principal was here for Lin Xuan? How long would this take?
If it dragged on, what would happen to the pressing questions he needed answered?
Reluctantly, Professor Chen approached Lin Xuan and nudged him awake.
Lin Xuan: "..."
He was starting to think classrooms were terrible places for napping.
"Lin Xuan, the Principal wants to see you," Professor Chen said.
"Got it." Lin Xuan nodded, rising unsteadily from his seat before following the Principal to his office.
"Lin Xuan," the Principal beamed, personally pouring him a cup of tea.
"What’s this about, Principal?" Lin Xuan rubbed his temples, his tone resigned.
All he wanted was a decent place to sleep—why was it so hard?
His entourage of bodyguards made it impossible to slip away unnoticed. If he went to the company, Lei Hui, the programmers, and even that persistent "dogtail grass" would pester him.
Coming to school meant being dragged into answering professors' questions.
Hotels or private villas? No way.
Su Hua was insecure—what if she misunderstood and thought he was with another woman?
Besides, disappearing to those places would only make it obvious he was avoiding her just to catch up on sleep.
The Principal spoke warmly, "Lin Xuan, what are your plans after graduation?"
Lin Xuan shrugged. "Nothing concrete yet."
The Principal smiled. "Since you’re undecided, let me suggest something—how about pursuing a master's degree at Shangqing University?"
Lin Xuan: "No thanks. Not interested. Too much hassle. I’m lazy."
A bachelor's degree was enough—why bother with grad school?
"Lin Xuan, if the process is the issue, don’t worry. No exams, no paperwork—I’ll handle everything. Just show up when it’s time to study."
"And you won’t need to do any research projects. Just drop by occasionally, like today. Though if you could give some pointers to the research students, that’d be ideal."
The Principal was determined to keep Lin Xuan at Shangqing University—everything else was negotiable.
Even if Lin Xuan just stayed as a symbolic figure, it would be worth it.
Lin Xuan remained unimpressed. "Still not interested."
"Lin Xuan," the Principal pleaded, "this is a free master’s degree with countless benefits. Don’t reject it outright."
Lin Xuan lifted his gaze, eyeing the Principal. "Alright, Principal—what benefits?"
The Principal didn’t hesitate. "Plenty! For starters, it’ll enhance your credentials. A master’s or Ph.D. will command respect—people will hold you in higher regard."
"It’ll also help with job opportunities—"
He went on listing the advantages of graduate studies.
Lin Xuan sipped his tea, waiting for the Principal to finish before replying, "Principal, do you really think I need any of that?"
The Principal faltered.
Lin Xuan didn’t.
Tianmu Group, built from scratch by Lin Xuan in just over a year, was a powerhouse in Xia. No one dared look down on him.
Once someone reached a certain status, academic credentials became irrelevant.
The Principal frowned, deep in thought.
He needed another approach—something to make Lin Xuan willingly stay for grad school.
After racking his brain, he sighed. "Lin Xuan, tell me what you lack. If you agree to stay, I’ll do my best to meet your demands."
Lin Xuan shook his head. "I don’t need anything, Principal. Right now, I just want to slack off."
He stood from the sofa. "If that’s all, I’ll take my leave."
The Principal scrambled for another idea.
Then it hit him—Lin Xuan cared deeply about Su Hua. If he used her as leverage…
"Lin Xuan!" The Principal called out just as Lin Xuan reached the door.
