Thank You for Always Running Towards Me (Part 1)

Alice never expected to see that tall, strikingly handsome Chinese man again—and in her home country, no less. What’s more, he was accompanied by four children?

Alice had crossed paths with Mo Xuan before, several times overseas. Each time, he was either with two adorable daughters or accompanied by two strikingly beautiful women who looked remarkably alike.

Unlike others, Alice had always sensed that there was a story behind them. Though curious about their relationship, she felt it wasn’t her place to pry.

Besides, whenever she glanced their way, those two stunning women would shoot her dangerously sharp looks.

If she had to describe the feeling, it was like being a rabbit caught in the gaze of a wolf—an instinctive sense of danger that sent shivers down her spine.

This time, Alice had come to China with her boyfriend, planning to settle down. While accompanying him for an interview at Luo Corporation, she unexpectedly saw Mo Xuan again. He was carrying two infants like a kangaroo mom and holding the hands of two little girls. Surprisingly, he was also at Luo Corporation.

What shocked her even more was how casually he moved through the building, as if it were his own home. Every staff member treated him with utmost respect.

“Of course they’re respectful,” her boyfriend said with a shudder when Alice voiced her curiosity. “A new intern once made the mistake of stopping him, and the CEO’s office personally fired them on the spot. Rumor has it that the CEO holds him in extremely high regard. We lower-level employees only know that his status is special. The management might know more, but they’re tight-lipped and forbid any gossip about him. So, don’t ask too many questions.”

“Is he here to see the CEO?” Alice asked.

“No, he’s probably here to see the CEO’s sister,” her boyfriend replied after some thought. “I’m not sure which one, though. The two infants are a mystery, but the older girls are the daughters of the former vice president’s daughters—the Luo sisters. No one knows who their father is.”

“Some say both children are his, but it’s too unbelievable for anyone to take seriously.”

Alice, however, was inclined to believe it. She had seen those two beautiful women before, though she hadn’t known they were the sisters of her future company’s CEO and former vice presidents.

Sometimes, the world feels incredibly small. Alice had always thought so, and it seemed the same was true for Mo Xuan and his family.

Because the world is small, they meet, get to know each other, and even if they drift apart, they always find their way back together…

After Luo Shiya and Luo Muqi finished their postpartum recovery, Luo Tian begged them to return to the company temporarily to help out. The sisters agreed.

“I have no choice,” Luo Tian explained. “There are a few critical projects that need attention, and I don’t trust the lower-level staff to handle them. Just help me through this period until things stabilize.”

Luo Tian was in a tough spot. While Luo Corporation’s domestic operations were stable, there were numerous issues in the overseas market. His two sisters had essentially retired abroad with their husband, and he wouldn’t have bothered them so soon after childbirth if the situation weren’t so dire.

Initially planning to return home after their recovery, Luo Shiya and Luo Muqi reconsidered and agreed to help out.

As for Mo Xuan, his life was relatively peaceful.

Every day, he would take Luo Wei'er and Luo Xue'er to kindergarten, then return home to care for Luo Jing'er and Luo Ling'er.

The reason he had brought the whole family to the company was because Luo Shiya had suddenly called, saying there was an urgent matter. The two older girls insisted on coming along, and the two younger ones were crying and fussing. In the end, Mo Xuan had no choice but to bundle everyone up and bring them to the company.

“So, your ‘urgent matter’ is this?”

Mo Xuan was utterly exasperated as Luo Shiya and Luo Muqi hugged him from both sides, leaving him no room to escape. Meanwhile, the four children had already been taken care of by Sister Hui’s team.

“Aren’t you two bored?” Mo Xuan finally snapped. “Can’t this wait until we get home? It’s not like I’m going to run away!”

“Work is exhausting,” Luo Shiya pouted. “It’s been hours since we last saw you.”

“Exactly,” Luo Muqi chimed in. “Brother, we’re the ones earning money for the family now. Can’t you indulge us a little?”

Mo Xuan: …

He couldn’t argue with that.

To be fair, Mo Xuan wasn’t without ambition. He had repeatedly suggested starting his own business or staying in China to work at Rongxing. Even if he couldn’t match the sisters’ wealth, at least he wouldn’t feel completely inadequate.

But that was impossible. The sisters were far too wealthy, and they didn’t need Mo Xuan to work or start a business.

What’s more, Mo Xuan had tried before. Before moving abroad, he had considered using the shares he obtained from Mo Qingqing to make some investments.

Without exception, all his plans fell through because he couldn’t escape the Luo family’s influence.

At first, Mo Xuan didn’t understand why. Later, he realized that Luo Shiya and Luo Muqi had been quietly sabotaging his efforts.

Though he still held a position at Rongxing, Mo Xuan couldn’t help but feel that the label of “a kept man” wasn’t entirely off the mark.

To be fair, Luo Shiya and Luo Muqi had never said anything of the sort. They didn’t care whether Mo Xuan earned money or how much. As long as they could provide, that was enough.

Their teasing wasn’t meant to criticize him; it was just their way of clinging to him a little more. Mo Xuan understood their true intentions and had grown accustomed to their occasional antics.

After being hugged like a giant teddy bear for what felt like an eternity, Luo Shiya and Luo Muqi finally let go. Luo Muqi even cheerfully declared, “Fully charged! Ready to get back to work!”

Mo Xuan: …

“So, what am I? A power bank?” Mo Xuan reached out and ruffled Luo Muqi’s hair. “Never mind. Could you ask Sister Hui to look after Jing'er and Ling'er? I’ll take Wei'er and Xue'er out to get you some food.”

He didn’t really need to bring the two older girls along, but…

“I’m sorry, Mr. Mo,” Sister Hui said apologetically. “The two little ones are just… well, very difficult to calm down.”

“It’s fine. I kind of expected this,” Mo Xuan replied, unfazed.

Feeling a chill behind him, Mo Xuan turned around with a wry smile. “I’ll just take them for a short walk and be back soon. Can you two act normal for a bit?”

Luo Shiya and Luo Muqi finally relaxed a little. Luo Shiya even added innocently, “How could you think that, Xuan? I know how hard it is for you to take care of the kids. Why would I be upset?”

“Shiya, we’ve been together for so long. There’s no need to hide things from me anymore…”

Mo Xuan was too tired to argue. Whether it was other women or even their own children, the sisters’ jealousy knew no bounds. At one point, he had wondered if he was cursed, given how the temperature around him seemed to drop inexplicably at times.

No curses, just two yanderes. Over time, Mo Xuan had learned to handle them by simply going along with their whims.

He had once considered pushing back, thinking they were overreacting. That was until he stumbled upon some files saved on Luo Shiya’s tablet:

“The Effects of Deep Hypnosis on the Brain”

“Hypnotic Drugs and Human Tolerance”

“A Detailed Analysis of Psychological Suggestion”

So, not only had they not abandoned their old tricks, but they were also planning to refine them further?

“It’s just insecurity,” Mo Xuan reassured himself. “That’s all it is…”

With that thought, he led his daughters out of the Luo Corporation building…
