My System Seems Different from Theirs Chapter 75

"Little Hei, I'm sorry." Fang Zhiyi looked at the small ball-shaped form Little Hei had reverted into because of him.

Little Hei seemed confused. "Huh? What's wrong?"

Fang Zhiyi stared at it. Well, it was still the same clueless system—it didn’t even realize what it had done.

Still, Fang Zhiyi silently resolved not to let it act recklessly again, at least not until it became the true Heavenly Dao. Though he didn’t know what would ultimately become of it, he seemed to have no other choice.

Having not been human for so long, Fang Zhiyi felt somewhat out of place.

"Host, this world is going to be easygoing!"

"Really?"

"Cross my heart!"

When Fang Zhiyi opened his eyes, he found himself in a lavishly decorated room. Good—a modern setting. At least he wouldn’t have to reinvent technology from scratch.

Then, a flood of memories rushed in.

Fang Zhiyi was the youngest son of the Fang Family, practically drowning in affection from everyone. But despite holding all the best cards, he had somehow managed to ruin himself.

His maternal grandfather was a renowned tycoon, and his grandmother was the only daughter of the Ye Family. Their union was a powerful alliance, producing Fang Zhiyi’s mother, Fang Yueyao, and her younger brother, Fang Shijie. Fang Yueyao married Fang Zhiyi’s father, Chen Guodong. Since it was a matrilocal marriage, Fang Zhiyi’s grandfather had one condition—the children would carry the Fang surname. Eager to leverage the Fang Family’s influence to make a name for himself, Chen Guodong agreed without hesitation.

Fang Zhiyi had an older brother and sister—Fang Yingyou and Fang Zhiqing.

Born into such a family, Fang Zhiyi could have coasted through life on the privileges others could only dream of. But everything changed when one person entered their lives.

During an outing with Chen Guodong, Fang Zhiyi encountered a little girl who had gotten separated from her family. Chen Guodong kept going on about how pitiful she was, and the kind-hearted young Fang Zhiyi suggested taking her home—after all, he didn’t have a younger sister.

From that day on, Fang Ningxi lived with the Fang Family. His mother had objected at first, and his grandparents weren’t keen on the idea either. But Fang Zhiyi threw tantrums, insisting on having a sister. Eventually, the family relented, adopting the girl and giving her the Fang surname.

Fang Zhiyi always shielded this sister. When his older sister scolded Fang Ningxi for touching her things, Fang Zhiyi would argue back. When his brother treated Ningxi coldly, Fang Zhiyi would ignore him in return.

As he grew up, Fang Zhiyi genuinely came to see her as his real sister—defending her, trusting her unconditionally. After graduating, they both joined the Fang Corporation as interns. Fang Zhiyi, with his spoiled-brat attitude, barely showed up for work, while Fang Ningxi worked diligently, earning praise and establishing herself in the company.

Then one day, Fang Zhiyi received a call. Fang Ningxi was sobbing, claiming she’d been falsely accused—his older brother had allegedly framed her for stealing company secrets. Enraged, Fang Zhiyi stormed in, argued with Fang Yingyou, and left with Fang Ningxi in tow.

The next day, Fang Ningxi said she wanted to strike out on her own, since his siblings clearly disliked her. Impulsive as ever, Fang Zhiyi funded her startup, helped her recruit talent, and even poached employees from the Fang Corporation. Though his family caught wind of it quickly, they could do little to stop him. His mother eventually smoothed things over, reasoning that since Fang Ningxi was technically family, it wasn’t a total loss.

But then things took a darker turn. Fang Zhiyi spotted Fang Ningxi laughing with a strange man several times. Unable to contain his jealousy, he confronted the man, who coldly declared himself Fang Ningxi’s boyfriend. Fang Zhiyi threw a punch—a moment captured by hidden cameras. The next day, footage of the Fang heir assaulting someone went viral, accompanied by a flood of smear campaigns. Fang Corporation’s stocks plummeted.

Distraught, Fang Zhiyi went to Fang Ningxi’s company, only to find her crying. She claimed the Fang Corporation was now targeting her business. So Fang Zhiyi did something even stupider—he stole confidential documents from his brother’s office and handed them to her.

From then on, their competitors suddenly gained the upper hand, pushing Fang Corporation to the brink. Fang Yingyou fell into despair.

Overseas, his older sister rushed back upon hearing the news but was tragically hit by a car on the way home, left in a vegetative state.

The relentless blows left Fang Yueyao bedridden. At this point, Fang Zhiyi’s uncle stepped in. With his underground connections, Fang Shijie mobilized forces to investigate who was sabotaging the Fang Family. But in a drunken stupor, Fang Zhiyi unwittingly leaked this to his "sister."

Unsurprisingly, Fang Shijie was crushed—utterly destroyed.

Meanwhile, Chen Guodong, acting as interim chairman, suddenly turned traitor, making decisions that only hastened Fang Corporation’s collapse.

Fang Zhiyi’s grandparents fell ill upon hearing the news. His grandfather passed soon after, leaving his grandmother to weep helplessly.

Only then did Fang Zhiyi think to turn to his sister for help. The company he’d bankrolled seemed to be thriving, but security barred him at the door.

"Chairwoman Chen says she doesn’t want to see you."

"Chairwoman Chen?"

"Yes, Chairwoman Chen Ningxi."

Finally, clarity struck. Fang Zhiyi pieced together the past—how his father had nudged him to accept this "sister," how she never seemed entirely innocent. His father’s surname was Chen, and now hers was too. The answer was obvious.

The Fang Family was ruined. Fang Yueyao died in her sickbed. Chen Guodong wasted no time marrying his mistress. And Fang Ningxi—no, Chen Ningxi—flaunted her engagement to Zheng Shikai of the Zheng Corporation.

Slumped on the sidewalk, Fang Zhiyi watched the news broadcast in a store window, staring at that cold, familiar face. He finally understood his mistake.

But it was too late. Fang Yingyou left him a letter and some money before jumping to his death—his pride wouldn’t let him live in disgrace.

Dazed, Fang Zhiyi wandered the streets until he bumped into a burly man in a tank top. Turning around, he realized he was cornered.

"Kid, no one lays a hand on our young master and walks away unscathed."

Fang Zhiyi opened his eyes, frowning as if deep in thought.

He shuffled downstairs lazily, dressed in shorts and a T-shirt.

Fang Ningxi gasped. "Second Brother! We’re going to be late! Why are you dressed like that?"

Suppressing the urge to snap, Fang Zhiyi replied, "Huh? Late for what?"

"The internship! If we’re late, Big Brother will be furious! He already doesn’t like me..." She pouted, swaying slightly.

Fang Zhiyi’s expression stiffened. Was this some kind of test?

"Oh, right. Well, you go ahead. I’m not in the mood."
