My Bizarre Relatives 017

The room was packed with people—everyone had come except for Grandma, who was still in the hospital. The atmosphere was tense, thick with mutual disdain.

"Ruoruo, you're here?" Li Mei took two steps forward, reaching out to grab her, but Fang Ruoruo dodged the gesture. Li Mei looked surprised.

"We’ve discussed it—your aunts, uncles, and I—and we’ve decided you shouldn’t keep this house," Li Mei declared. Fang Ruoruo was stunned. "Sell it and divide the money among the elders. How does that sound?" She even seemed pleased with herself.

Fang Ruoruo stared at her blankly before finally speaking. "Mom, is this really your idea? Asking your own daughter to sell her home?"

Li Mei hesitated. "Yes, sell it. I’ve thought it through—what use does a girl like you have for a house? You’ll marry sooner or later, and then it’ll just go to outsiders."

Fang Ruoruo kept her gaze fixed on her.

Second Uncle chimed in, "And that company your father left you—you should bring your cousins in and hand it over to them. How can a young girl like you manage it alone?"

Eldest Aunt nodded. "I’ve found you a good match—a filial, honest boy. Marry him, and you’ll live comfortably."

Fang Ruoruo’s eyes remained locked on her mother.

Li Mei shifted uncomfortably under her stare. "Well? Say something! Sell the house, give the company to your cousins—they’ll look out for you. Once you’re married, no one will dare bully you."

Xu Jiaqing grew impatient and stepped forward. "Speak up!"

"Since when has my Ruoruo ever been bullied? Who else but you people would dare?" A booming voice cut through the room as Fang Yu strode in, arms crossed.

The crowd froze. Li Xue’s face darkened. "What are you doing here? This is a family matter—none of your business!"

"None of my business?" Fang Yu scanned the room, her eyes landing on Xu Jiaqing. Without hesitation, she slapped him across the face.

Xu Jiaqing staggered, dazed.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Li Xue shot to her feet but immediately faltered—Fang Yu’s entourage, all dressed uniformly and radiating authority, stood behind her.

"What does it look like I’m doing?" Fang Yu retorted before turning to Fang Ruoruo. "You okay?"

Fang Ruoruo smiled. "I’m fine, Auntie."

Li Mei glared. "Why bring all these people? Think you can bulldoze your way through this? I’m talking to my daughter!" She emphasized the last word.

Fang Yu smirked. "Bulldoze? I’m not here to reason—I’m here to back her up."

"All of you, acting like decent people while scheming like vultures. The moment her father died, you swarmed in like flies to rotten meat. Have you no shame?"

The room fell into uneasy silence.

Fang Zhiyi, watching from the sidelines, muttered, "That metaphor was unnecessary."

"You old hag! With a son like yours, who in their right mind would marry him? Take a good look in the mirror—your family’s a joke! Dreaming of a perfect daughter-in-law? Keep dreaming!"

"And you—thicker-skinned than a city wall, daring to demand her company for your son. Who do you think you are? Know your place! A toad lusting after swan meat—delusional!"

"Don’t look away—I’m talking to you! Your whole family’s rotten, scheming parasites. Your son’s a useless layabout, leaching off you. Pathetic!"

"If you’re mentally ill, go get treated. Don’t think insanity excuses your behavior. Try acting like human beings for once!"

"Setting Ruoruo up on blind dates? You’re not even fit to lick her shoes. Disgusting!"

Fang Yu’s verbal assault didn’t let up.

Li Xue finally snapped. "Get out of my house! You’re not welcome here!"

Fang Yu laughed. "Your house?" She pulled out a property deed and slowly displayed it to the room. "This is mine."

The crowd gasped.

"Also, every piece of furniture, every decoration here was expensive—all documented." Fang Yu snapped her fingers. Lawyer Yu stepped forward, unfolding a file.

"Legally archived. Photos, videos—everything. A year before Fang Zhiyi passed, he commissioned this. Every item in this house is recorded."

Li Xue turned deathly pale, lips trembling. Second Uncle, however, flushed red with panic. He pointed at Eldest Aunt’s family and shouted, "It wasn’t us! It was them!"

Li Xue trembled with rage. "You’re throwing me under the bus?"

Fang Zhiyi watched coldly. Typical—these relatives always turned on each other when exposed.

As the two factions nearly came to blows, Li Mei pleaded with her daughter. "Ruoruo, talk to your aunt. Let it go. You don’t care about this stuff, right? They’re family!"

Fang Yu glanced at Fang Ruoruo, her expression unreadable.

Fang Ruoruo met her aunt’s gaze, then Li Mei’s.

"Auntie, it’s your house. Your call." With that, she turned and left.

"Ruoruo!" Li Mei tried to chase after her but was yanked back. "Don’t run! Li Mei, explain yourself! You’re the one who said we could live here!"

Fang Yu ignored them, relieved. She’d worried Fang Ruoruo might soften. Thankfully, she hadn’t.

The chaos lasted all day until Fang Yu called the police, reporting trespassing. The Li family was hauled to the station.

They denied everything—until Fang Yu produced surveillance footage.

The moment the video played, their defiance crumbled.

Li Mei frantically tried calling her daughter, only to find herself blocked. Opening the family group chat, she saw Fang Ruoruo’s message:

"I’m a Fang. I have no relatives like you. My only family now is Fang Yu—my aunt."

Li Mei’s hands shook. "Ungrateful! Disgraceful!"

But she had bigger problems.

With irrefutable evidence, the court ruled swiftly. The staggering compensation sum made Eldest Aunt faint on the spot. Second Uncle turned ghostly white. Third Aunt, luckily uninvolved, grabbed her daughter and fled.

Back at the Li household, the arguments erupted anew—Second Uncle and Eldest Aunt bickered, then Eldest Aunt and Elder Uncle turned on each other. Blame flew in all directions.

Soon, they settled on a strategy: "No money? Then take our lives!"

But they’d forgotten one thing—Fang Yu wasn’t someone to be trifled with.

The next day, Fang Yu spent money to hire a group of people—mostly aunties and elder women—to stand outside the Li family’s house holding banners that read "Repay Your Debts." They took turns shouting curses in shifts of four, trading off when they grew tired, keeping up the spectacle from dawn till dusk. Soon, word of the Li family’s refusal to repay their debts spread throughout the village, and even people from farther away came to witness the commotion.

The Li household was shrouded in gloom, utterly helpless against the seasoned verbal assaults from outside.

Once again, Li Mei became the target of Eldest Aunt’s fury. Li Xue berated her viciously before driving her out, and Li Mei, unwilling to stay any longer, hurried back to her new home.

But the Li family’s troubles only worsened. Whenever any of them stepped outside, a few of the protesters would break away from the crowd to follow them, hurling insults the entire way.
