Debunking Me

Time passed swiftly, and soon it was time for school to end.

As the dismissal bell rang, students of Guangya Academy surged like waves toward the club building, one after another.

Unlike the others who rushed out immediately, Luo Shuhe remained seated, resting her chin on one hand as she gazed silently out the window, her eyes piercing through the glass.

She was searching for that figure who haunted her thoughts.

Just then, her phone vibrated.

Picking it up, she saw a message from Luo Shuling:

[Shuhe, I’ll be waiting for you on the rooftop.]

Luo Shuhe merely glanced at it before turning off the screen and resuming her watch out the window.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the classroom...

Ren Lei had just finished packing her things and stood up when Luo Shuning spoke:

"Lei, go ahead to the club first. If Brother is there, let him know I’ll be a little late—I have something to take care of."

"Got it. Call me if you need anything."

Without pressing further, Ren Lei gently pinched her cheek before following the other students out of the classroom.

Luo Shuning stayed seated, her fingers absently tracing the edge of the desk. After a moment of silence, she slowly rose and walked toward Luo Shuhe’s seat.

Stopping nearby, she spoke softly, "Shuhe, let’s talk."

By now, the area around Luo Shuhe was empty of other students. Hearing this, she turned her head leisurely, leaning back in her chair and casually crossing her left leg over her right thigh.

"What does Sister want to talk about?"

"It’s not convenient here..." Luo Shuning glanced around before lowering her voice further. "Let’s go to the rooftop. It’s about... Brother."

"Brother? Don’t you usually call him 'Elder Brother'?"

"I’ll follow how you address him." Luo Shuning kept her tone deferential, even adjusting her reference to Gu Luo to match Luo Shuhe’s.

"How considerate of you, Sister."

Luo Shuhe shook her head. "But there’s no need. Let’s just keep it simple here."

"Sit."

She patted the seat beside her.

"...Alright."

Luo Shuning didn’t dare refuse. Obediently taking the spot next to her, she bit her lower lip and began:

"Shuhe, I was wrong."

"I... I owe you an apology. But I couldn’t bring myself to tell Brother the truth..."

"So... please expose me. Tonight, in front of Brother and Little Man—reveal everything."

Luo Shuhe fell silent, her eyes drifting downward to where the tip of her shoe gleamed faintly in the sunlight.

After a long pause, she sighed softly.

"Sister, have you thought about the consequences of this?"

Luo Shuning nodded, her head still bowed. "Yes... I spent all morning thinking in the garden..."

"I’m sorry, Shuhe. I was just... so afraid of losing Brother that I... I truly am sorry."

"I thought Sister was always so confident?" Luo Shuhe pressed.

"...Not at all." Luo Shuning’s voice was heavy. "I... realized a long time ago... about you and Brother..."

"But I didn’t let myself dwell on it... until you confronted me outright..."

"And then when you said you’d... take things further with Brother... I panicked. I didn’t know what to do..."

Silence settled between them once more.

Luo Shuhe swung her slender leg slightly, breaking the quiet. "If I really expose this, what will you do afterward?"

"Apologize. Keep apologizing, until you and Brother forgive me." Luo Shuning lifted her head, taking a deep breath, her expression more resolute than ever.

"But no matter the outcome, I won’t give up on these feelings."
