In the vibrant and youthful campus of Guangya High School, time always seemed to fly by, and before anyone knew it, the school day had come to an end.
On a bench in the small garden,
Gu Luo sat comfortably, chatting on a voice call while smiling and nodding at the enthusiastic fangirls who greeted him as they passed by.
"Ximan, you sure you don’t want to come? It’s your big brother’s personal cooking tonight," he said, tilting his head slightly as he pressed the phone closer to his ear.
"Nope~ Not going! This beautiful girl has plans to watch anime at Xuexue’s place tonight. No time for you," Gu Ximan’s playful and lively voice rang clearly through the phone, as if one could picture her pouting with an exaggerated air of pride.
Hearing his sister’s response, Gu Luo couldn’t help but smile.
It seemed Comrade Ximan had returned to her usual mischievous, slightly tsundere self.
And that was good.
A proud, sassy little sister was adorable.
"Alright then, I’ll make you some midnight snacks when you get back."
"Hmph, at least you know what’s good, stinky big bro. I want egg fried rice and freshly squeezed juice."
"Sure, sure. Anything else?"
"How about you turn yourself into a midnight snack for me?"
"Nah, I’m scared of pain."
"Pfft~ Hanging up now."
Putting away his phone, Gu Luo’s grin widened as he leaned back comfortably on the bench, breathing in the faint scent of chrysanthemums in the air.
"Gu-senpai, not joining club activities today?" one of the passing fangirls called out to him.
"Got other plans today," Gu Luo replied with a smile.
"Senpai, senpai! My house is empty tonight. Wanna come over and watch my kitten do backflips? It’s super exciting!"
Soon after, a few more underclassmen walked by, and the boldest among them even teased him with a playful invitation.
The remark immediately sent the other girls into giggles, playfully shoving each other in that unmistakably youthful way.
Gu Luo responded with nothing more than an awkward yet polite smile.
What could he do? With so many admirers, there was bound to be all kinds.
In fact, there was an entire group at school that seemed to take joy in teasing him—most of whom were members of the current "Pure Fun Club."
Of course, if Gu Luo ever gave the slightest nod, they’d probably line up for him without hesitation.
But that would never happen.
Was his little angel not sweet enough? Or had his little demon lost her edge?
"Gu-senpai, Gu-senpai! How about coming home to watch me do backflips instead? Equally thrilling!"
Just then, a familiar, cheerful voice called out from behind him.
Gu Luo turned to see Luo Shuling smiling at him.
But she was alone.
No sign of the little angel or the little demon.
"Where are Shu Ning and Shu He?" Gu Luo glanced around before asking, "Didn’t you all agree to come together?"
"Well, the student council suddenly called a meeting for all club presidents, so Shu Ning and Shu He had to attend," Luo Shuling explained, her eyes curving into crescents as she grinned.
"And you? Aren’t you a president too?"
"Our Public Service Club is a bit special—we don’t have to go."
After a pause, she added with a playful smile,
"Besides, we’re having dinner at Grandma Li’s tonight. Someone’s gotta take you there, right? I already talked it over with Shu Ning and the others."
"True... And Ximan’s going to Xuexue’s, so it’s just the two of us."
Gu Luo stretched as he stood up, then ruffled her hair affectionately.
"Alright then, Little Sunbeam—let’s go!"
"Roger that!" Luo Shuling gave a cheeky salute.
Before leaving, she casually glanced back toward the building where the meeting was being held.
The scene that followed... wasn’t really suited for Shu Ning and Shu He to be around for.
