Healing

In the kitchen, Shen Yi finally managed to put everything in order after a flurry of activity.

He placed what should be on the countertop on the countertop, hung what should be hung up, and put what should go in the fridge in the fridge.

Clapping his hands, Shen Yi checked the time. It was already a little past three in the afternoon.

"It's time to start cooking..."

Shen Yi stroked his chin and thought for a while, staring at the ingredients in front of him.

"Maybe I can start by stewing a soup first. It takes a long time, so I have to get it going first."

With that in mind, he squatted down, took out a large casserole from the cabinet, rinsed it, and put it on the fire.

He put all the necessary ingredients into it and let it stew while he went to take care of other things.

Not long after, as Shen Yi was preparing the ingredients, he heard a noise at the door. Someone must have come back.

Shen Yi wiped the water off his hands and quickly went out to help.

As soon as he stepped out, he saw Fu Nanzhi and Shu Yunyi. One was struggling to drag a suitcase, and the other was carrying a large duffel bag back.

He quickly stepped forward, stretched out his hand, and said,

"Let go, let go. Let me do it."

With that, he grabbed the suitcase from Fu Nanzhi's hand and then reached out to take the duffel bag from Shu Yunyi's hand.

Once he got hold of it, the suitcase was okay since it had wheels underneath, but the handle of the duffel bag on this side was pulled tight, clearly indicating that it was quite heavy.

"It's so heavy. I didn't know you had so much strength."

Shen Yi lifted the duffel bag with one hand and still had the time to compliment her.

Shu Yunyi let out a sigh of relief, straightened up, and wiped the fine sweat from her forehead, saying,

"Strength my foot. If it weren't for Nanzhi's help, just dragging it down from the upstairs would have taken half my life."

Fu Nanzhi shook her head and smiled, saying,

"No way. Yunyi gave me the lightest suitcase to carry."

Seeing how tired they were, Shen Yi walked back while saying with concern,

"Just take what you need first. Leave the heavy stuff for me to move later."

"Why do you have to bring everything back at once?"

There was no shortage of food, clothing, and daily necessities here. Even if they only brought a few changes of clothes, it wouldn't affect their lives.

Shu Yunyi gave him a sidelong glance, folded her arms across her chest, and followed him back, saying,

"There are all my books in here. I definitely need them."

Fu Nanzhi chimed in on the side, saying,

"Yes, you wouldn't know if you didn't see. Yunyi has quite a lot of book collections."

Since she had her man around, there was no need to waste her own energy. Shu Yunyi turned around and pointed to the driveway in the basement, saying,

"We've only moved less than half of these. You go and help move everything out of the car later."

"We're really struggling to move them."

Shen Yi nodded and said,

"Okay. I'll take these things in my hands to the room first. You stay there and take your time to tidy up."

"Leave the rest to me."

Taking a few steps upstairs, Shen Yi put down the suitcase and the duffel bag before turning around and going downstairs.

After going downstairs, Shen Yi didn't rush to go right away. Instead, he went into the kitchen and turned the stove to a low fire, so as not to come back after finishing his work and find the soup boiled dry.

Shu Yunyi really had a lot of things. Not counting the two large suitcases, there were also several duffel bags, all filled with her book collections.

She had fewer clothes and odds and ends than books, and her car and Fu Nanzhi's car were stuffed to the brim.

Shen Yi made several trips back and forth before moving all the things.

Leaving Shu Yunyi to tidy up in the room, Shen Yi went back to the kitchen to continue cooking after moving everything.

He was busy killing fish and scaling them, peeling shrimp and putting them in the steamer, chopping chicken and meat, picking vegetables and peeling garlic, having a great time.

To prevent the cooked dishes from getting cold first, Shen Yi only prepared two cold dishes first. He had all the ingredients for the rest ready, and all he needed to do next was to stir-fry them in the pan.

Shen Yi's cooking skills were on par, and since he didn't go for any fancy dishes, he rarely had any mishaps.

Checking the time, Shen Yi took out his phone and called Cheng Jun.

Shu Yunyi and Fu Nanzhi had both come back, and only Cheng Jun was still out. Shen Yi needed to know how long it would take for her to come back so that he could decide when to start cooking the dishes.

"Hello? Cheng Jun."

"What's up?"

"Nothing much. The two of them have come back. I'm just asking where you are."

"Oh..."

"I went to buy some things. I'll be there right away."

"I'm driving, so I won't talk to you anymore."

After the brief conversation, Shen Yi knew what to do and started heating up the oil in the pan.

There was a sizzling sound as the scallions and garlic went into the pan, stirring up a cloud of smoke and a fragrant smell.

Fu Nanzhi came to the kitchen door. Seeing Shen Yi in an apron, working with both hands and wielding the spatula skillfully, her eyes lit up.

This was her favorite look of Shen Yi. She couldn't help but step closer and ask,

"Do you need any help?"

Shen Yi was taking the pan off the fire and adding seasonings. Hearing her, he turned his head and asked,

"Why are you here?"

"Aren't you helping Yunyi tidy up upstairs?"

Fu Nanzhi lowered her head and smelled the just-cooked dish beside her before saying,

"I've almost finished tidying up. She won't let me help with the rest."

"So I came down to see if there's anything else I can do."

While tossing the pan, Shen Yi asked without looking back,

"What about your own things?"

"Do you want to go back and get them now while you have some free time? It won't take long to go there and come back anyway."

Fu Nanzhi smiled and said,

"I've already been back. I went there on the way just now."

"I don't have much to take. A few sets of clothes are enough. I can go back and get whatever I need whenever I'm short of something."

With that, she bent down, picked up a piece of meat from the plate, and quickly threw it into her mouth to taste the flavor.

Shen Yi glanced at her and immediately frowned and scolded,

"Hey, hey, hey. Aren't you being dirty? You just use your hands."

"Did you wash your hands?"

Fu Nanzhi hadn't eaten anything at noon, and now her stomach was growling with hunger. After taking a bite of the meat, she chewed it with her eyes almost closed.

Like a cat that had stolen some fish, she licked the grease off her hands before perfunctorily saying,

"Yes, I washed them."

"I'm not stupid."

Shen Yi snorted and didn't say much. He turned off the fire and said to her,

"Go and get me a plate."

"Okay!"

Fu Nanzhi cheerfully agreed, turned around, and brought a plate over, saying,

"Here."

Shen Yi took it and put the dish from the pan onto the plate, then put it aside and prepared to start on the next one.

"Hey? There are also shrimp and oysters."

Here, Fu Nanzhi seemed to have discovered a new world. She walked around to Shen Yi's side and pointed at the shrimp in the steamer.

Shen Yi casually replied,

"Don't worry. These are all your favorites."

"Since I haven't put the vermicelli in yet, you put a little bit of the soaked vermicelli from the basin into each one."

"Okay."

Fu Nanzhi agreed and said with a grin,

"Later, you make a garlic and chili sauce. It'll definitely smell amazing."

"I'm going to eat a lot today."

Shen Yi laughed and said to her,

"What? Don't you need to watch your diet today?"

Fu Nanzhi usually was afraid of gaining weight, so she didn't dare to indulge herself too much in eating. That's why Shen Yi was teasing her.

Fu Nanzhi pouted and patted her chest, saying,

"I didn't eat a single bite at noon. Eating a little more by combining two meals won't matter."

With that, Fu Nanzhi glanced outside before turning back to Shen Yi and saying,

"By the way, hubby, I have something to tell you."

"What's up?"

"I noticed a strange phenomenon this afternoon."

Fu Nanzhi bit her lower lip mysteriously and said,

"Just when I went to help Yunyi move this afternoon, I found that I seem to... be able to recognize people."

Hearing this, Shen Yi's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly asked,

"Can you remember people now? Who did you recognize?"

"Shu Yunyi."

Fu Nanzhi replied, but then she quickly waved her hand and said,

"Of course, I don't mean that I can't recognize you, my husband. It's just that this afternoon when I helped her carry books, we were going in opposite directions. One was going up and the other was coming down."

"At that time, I was going upstairs while she was coming downstairs. There were clearly so many people in the elevator, but I recognized her at a glance."

Shen Yi frowned and confirmed,

"You're quite familiar with Shu Yunyi. Could it be...?"

Fu Nanzhi knew what Shen Yi was thinking and shook her head, saying,

"I didn't recognize her based on her clothes or headdress."

"I'm sure that at that time, I recognized her just by seeing her face. My muddled mind told me that it was her."

Speaking of this, Fu Nanzhi beamed with joy and said with a big smile,

"How amazing! This is the first time I've had such an experience..."

Hearing her description, Shen Yi was excited inside, but on the surface, he still pretended to be both surprised and delighted and asked,

"What about me?"

"You?"

Fu Nanzhi stared into Shen Yi's eyes, her eyes curved into a gentle crescent as she said softly,

"As for you, I can recognize you even with my eyes closed. That definitely doesn't count."

Shen Yi let out a long sigh of relief, put down what he was doing, and pulled her into his arms excitedly, saying,

"Great, it's really great."

Burying his head in the fragrant hair of Fu Nanzhi, his hand kept stroking her back.

In her three decades of life, this was the first time she had recognized someone other than her parents and Shen Yi.

Fu Nanzhi was also very happy about her own change and hugged Shen Yi back, chuckling.
