Schwimmer's Thoughts and Speculations

As the studio made their decision, the live stream, which had just been a black screen, suddenly showed signs of activity.

The live footage was restored, but instead of the direct footage from before, it was now showing security camera footage.

The footage showed Guangzhou Grand Avenue after 9 pm, with vehicles coming and going steadily.

A black Volkswagen appeared on screen.

The license plate read Yue AXXXX.

This was Xu Mo's car.

The viewers in the live stream naturally recognized it as well, and couldn't help but marvel at the program team's capabilities.

"This program team really pulled out all the stops, even getting the Traffic Management Bureau to cooperate with them."

"Well obviously, this show seems to be officially organized."

"I didn't expect the program team to be driven by this Xu Mo to use traffic surveillance cameras, this Xu Mo has something going for him."

"Care to guess how long Xu Mo can persist without being caught?"

"I bet one hour. Even though he discovered the show's hidden cameras, that's useless, he'll still be caught when the time comes."

"I bet Xu Mo will be the challenger who persists the longest out of the three."

"Get real. In my opinion, Xu Mo just got lucky, happening to discover the show's cameras. If this was the first season's pursuit team, he probably could've persisted for one or two hours more, but this season, he doesn't stand a chance."

"The pursuit team says they'll catch Xu Mo in half an hour. Now that'll make for a good show."

...

While the viewers were discussing Xu Mo,

The footage cut back to the interior of the car.

Beams of neon lights flashed across Xu Mo's face as the car passed by.

First the kidnapped celebrity tied up in his trunk.

Then the hidden cameras inside his car.

Xu Mo felt there was something fishy about these two things being connected.

He was the kidnapper.

Why would there be hidden cameras in his car?

Could it be some kind of thrilling stimulative game? Recording everything from all 360 degrees with no blind spots?

Psychopathic.

He shook his head.

If he really was the kidnapper who took Yang Jingxuan, why must he stash her in his car trunk? Wouldn't finding a place to hide Yang Jingxuan be the better choice?

Also, was there a need to put so many hidden surveillance cameras in the car?

After thinking it over, Xu Mo felt this was not the case.

The kidnapper had no need to take such risky actions.

Looking at his attire and the sufficient cash he had in his card holder, he did not seem to be in urgent need of money.

No matter how Xu Mo looked at it, something was off.

For now, the simplest course of action was to ask the woman celebrity tied up in his trunk.

With this thread of thought organized, Xu Mo began driving forward.

Not long after the car started moving, two police cars with flashing red and blue lights appeared at the intersection up ahead. An officer in a traffic policeman uniform approached.

Xu Mo narrowed his eyes warily.

What kind of people did he least want to run into right now?

The answer was police officers!

After all, he had a trussed up female star in his trunk.

As soon as the trunk was opened, whoever saw what was inside would not even give Xu Mo a chance to explain himself.

Not to mention that during the recent wanted broadcast, Xu Mo's details including his license plate number had been announced.

With the wanted notice already released, how could he possibly explain himself?

Speak of the devil.

Xu Mo's nerves tensed slightly. He wanted to make a U-turn, but it was already too late for that. It was Guangzhou Grand Avenue's rush hour after 9 pm, and there were many vehicles behind his black Volkswagen blocking his way. He simply did not have space to make a U-turn.

"Stop the car!"

The approaching traffic officer called out while eyeing Xu Mo's license plate.

Seeing this made Xu Mo even more nervous.

Was he about to be discovered?

Strangely however, after the traffic officer glanced at his license plate, he did not react abnormally. He just walked up to Xu Mo's window and knocked, speaking up when Xu Mo lowered the window, "Blow into this."

"Random breath testing for drunk driving?" Xu Mo asked.

"With the way you're talking, what else could this be for?" The traffic officer looked at him. "Go on, blow."

Xu Mo laughed it off, "I haven't been drinking though."

He was deliberately being uncooperative, keeping his attention focused on the traffic officer's facial expressions.

Showing impatience, the officer said, "I told you to blow so just do it, we'll know whether you were drinking or not after you blow."

The traffic officer's tone grew stricter. "Hurry up and blow! Don't dawdle here, or I'll dock you points."

He hasn't noticed?

Xu Mo felt this was rather bizarre.

Logically, if he was able to receive that news alert, how could a member of the police force not have gotten it?

One look at that news report and they'd definitely recognize his license plate number.

But judging from this traffic officer's expression, he clearly had no idea.

This was very suspicious.

Suspicious to the point of catching Xu Mo off guard.

Just what was going on here?

Xu Mo felt more and more that the happenings tonight were rather odd.

"Are you going to blow or not?"

The traffic officer asked again.

"Alright, alright!" Only then did Xu Mo reluctantly comply and blow into the device.

After a while, the device showed a normal reading, and the traffic officer grumbled for a bit before letting Xu Mo go.

Xu Mo restarted the engine and drove off, lost in pensive thought.

Something wasn't right.

Logically, with an incident of this scale taking place in the region where he worked no less, how could the traffic officer not know about the license plate number?

It didn't make sense.

It made no sense at all.

There were only two possibilities for this.

One, the traffic officer really did not receive that wanted notice.

Two, that wanted notice was fake!

It had to be said, after two boosts to his brain activity tonight, Xu Mo's mind worked very quickly.

He glanced at the rearview mirror, staring at the trunk behind.

In order to get to the bottom of all this, he would have to ask that trussed up female star.

Just then, a strange yet familiar memory suddenly surfaced in his mind!

It was about his past life!

Xu Mo suddenly knew this world's address of where he lived!

Talk about rewards for perseverance huh.

He met his end in his bedchamber, drained of all his vital essence. As the legitimate eldest son and crown prince, Wang Hao was thus hastily enthroned, becoming the young emperor of the Great Zhou Dynasty. No sooner had he awakened the "Imperial Sign-In Intelligence System" than he was assassinated by a Son of Destiny—a classic villain's opening. The Great Zhou, ravaged by the former emperor's excesses, was in national decline. The great families within its borders harbored their own treacherous schemes, martial sects began to defy the imperial court's decrees, and border armies, their pay and provisions in arrears, grumbled incessantly against the central government. Fortunately, the central capital was still held secure by the half-million Imperial Guards and fifty thousand Imperial Forest Army who obeyed the court's orders, along with the royal family's hidden reserves of power, barely managing to suppress the realm. As the Great Zhou's finances worsened and supernatural activities grew ever more frequent, the court sat atop a volcano. Ambitious plotters everywhere dreamed of overthrowing the dynasty, and even some reclusive ancient powers emerged, attempting to sway the tides of the world. At the first grand court assembly, the civil and military officials nearly came to blows, fighting tooth and nail over the allocation of fifty million taels of silver from the summer tax revenues. The spectacle opened Wang Hao's eyes—the Great Zhou's bureaucracy was not only corrupt but also martially proficient, a cabinet of all-rounders. Some officials even had the audacity to suggest the emperor release funds from the imperial privy purse to address the emergency. Wang Hao suddenly felt weary. Let it all burn.
