Full-time Care of the Beast

"Mash the salted fish and add the white root vegetable, putting in plenty of salt and sugar. Then drizzle on some oil and squeeze some tart lemon juice over it all. Mix it in with the vegetables you’ll be eating later so it's ready to eat."

Rosa Linda demonstrated it to everyone.

Lin Feng suddenly understood.

So this is how that sour, stinky stuff Yuna loves to eat is made.

It doesn't look too hard.

Though, do these ingredients really taste good mixed together like that?

"Try a mouthful!" Rosa Linda scooped up a spoonful and brought it to Yuna's mouth.

She didn't even hesitate before biting down on it.

She ate it with relish, then went in for another spoonful.

Watching on the side, Lin Feng was questioning his whole life.

Does this bizarre concoction really taste that good?

Maybe something's gone weird with their taste buds.

"Want to try some? You look like you really want to eat it." Rosa Linda scooped up another spoonful and held it out to Lin Feng. "It's pretty salty on its own though. It goes perfectly with rice."

Staring at the gloppy mess, he said "no" ten thousand times over in his heart, but Yuna was absolutely adamant, begging pitifully for Lin Feng to have a taste.

"Just try a bite, come ooon, just a little taste, my darling husband~"

Helpless, Lin Feng opened his mouth and ate a spoonful.

He carefully analyzed the thick, sticky substance with his tongue, then couldn't help but dry heave into the sink.

It was rancid!

The salty, gooey, oily mouthfeel was revolting.

He had no idea why they liked it.

Maybe something really was wrong with their taste buds.

Using this stuff as a rice topping was downright insulting to the rice.

Seeing Lin Feng’s miserable state, Emily giggled with schadenfreude, hopping up and down.

Lin Feng glanced at Emily and decided to torment her a little.

In a flash he scooped up a spoonful and shoved it straight into her mouth.

"Hey! What the heck!"

As expected, she reacted just like Lin Feng.

After chewing a couple times she spit out her breakfast right away.

She dry heaved for a good while after spitting it out, eventually rinsing her mouth and pointing at the bowl declaring, "I am NEVER eating that stuff again! No way!"

"We'll see about that. You'll definitely grow to love it eventually," Rosa Linda and Yuna said, lifting their spoons to eye Red Scale.

Clearly they were about to torment the water dragon again.

But Red Scale did occasionally show some intelligence. Seeing them both looking at her, she promptly pretended nothing was going on and left the kitchen.

"Boss, I haven't watered the flowers yet today so I'll be off first!" And with that, Red Scale disappeared around the corner.

But the two beastgirls didn't seem inclined to let her get away, clutching their bowls as they chased after her.

Red Scale immediately let out a miserable wail, begging Lin Feng for protection.

"Alright alright, stop tormenting her. I've learned how to make that stuff now anyway. I'll do it tomorrow."

Satisfied, Rosa Linda nodded.

Ever since Yuna and Rosa Linda fell pregnant, Lin Feng had started taking care of their daily living full time.

At first they tried to do everything themselves, but by the end they relied completely on Lin Feng for everything.

It was plain to see they quite enjoyed being doted on.

After lunch, Lin Feng finished washing up and came out to find everyone gone.

Shouts rang out from the backyard.

Peeking out, he discovered the two nitwits arm wrestling on a post.

As their bellies gradually swelled bigger, they were inexplicably full of energy.

He knew lively behavior was innate to beastmen, but their constant frolicking still worried him to no end.

"Come on you two, stop arm wrestling. I'm begging you, just go lie down nicely in bed."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Yuna's arm got pinned by Rosa Linda.

Refusing to admit defeat, she demanded a rematch.

The outcome of the second round was the same as the first.

"I give up. Our arms look the same thickness, so why is she always a tiny bit stronger? I just don't get it." Yuna heaved a small sigh, then hugged Lin Feng's leg, acting cute.

Lin Feng glanced over.

While their arms looked slender, beastmen generally had freakish strength.

They could all casually bend steel bars if they wanted.

Tearing off their pants would be simple and easy if they put their minds to it.

"It’s probably because I’m older and have more arm strength from shooting my bow every day."

"But I practice greatsword every day too!"

Lin Feng quickly picked Yuna up.

Ultimately it came down to their levels.

Though Yuna's strength stat was one level higher, their levels differed too greatly.

If they were the same level, Yuna would absolutely crush her.

"Yuna, your level isn't high enough yet. You're only 22 while Rosa Linda is already 27."

"What's this 'level' thing? I don't get it at all." A blank look spread on Yuna's face.

Not getting it was normal too. While Lin Feng had mentioned bits and pieces of it intentionally or not in the past, he'd never properly explained the concept to her.

"There there, let's go back to the bedroom and rest. I'll explain after you've given birth. You two are completely incapable of settling down." Lin Feng expended tremendous effort before finally coaxing them back inside.

Yet the moment they returned to the bedroom, they snuggled up together rolling around.

"Be careful! Don't bump into anything!"

It was utterly exhausting before they finally stopped.

Seeing sweat beading on their faces, Lin Feng decisively went outside and fetched a basin of water to wipe them clean.

Seeing they were still brimming with energy, he couldn't help but complain, "Covered in sweat again—getting you to settle down is harder than scaling the heavens."

"What's wrong with sweating a little? I wanna keep playing!" Sprawled on top of Yuna, Rosa Linda whined, "Yunaaa, I wanna play with your magic sword..."

On hearing the summons, the magic sword flew over from the rack by itself.

But on seeing Rosa Linda reach for it, it dodged reluctantly.

First arm wrestling, then tumbling around, now they want to start sword practice!

They're far too rambunctious.

Lin Feng simply gathered them in his arms to sleep peacefully.

But just after shutting his eyes, he heard the bedroom door open.

Opening them again, he saw Masha standing in the doorway.

She tiptoed in very gently and carefully made her way to the bedside.

Terrified of waking the household’s two ladies.

"What's up?"

With her hands behind her back, Masha said softly, "Lin Feng, can you come out for a bit?"

Lin Feng could probably guess what she was after.

No doubt she was eager to make babies.

"Let's do it tonight. I'm exhausted lately."

Masha's face immediately flushed red.

She quickly waved her hands. "No no, that's not why I asked you to come out!"

"Then what do you need me for?"

Masha fell silent, eyes darting around evasively.

Clearly Lin Feng had hit the mark.

"Well then...you definitely better come tonight. I'll be waiting for you."

Without waiting for Lin Feng’s assent, she turned and hurried off in embarrassment.

He met his end in his bedchamber, drained of all his vital essence. As the legitimate eldest son and crown prince, Wang Hao was thus hastily enthroned, becoming the young emperor of the Great Zhou Dynasty. No sooner had he awakened the "Imperial Sign-In Intelligence System" than he was assassinated by a Son of Destiny—a classic villain's opening. The Great Zhou, ravaged by the former emperor's excesses, was in national decline. The great families within its borders harbored their own treacherous schemes, martial sects began to defy the imperial court's decrees, and border armies, their pay and provisions in arrears, grumbled incessantly against the central government. Fortunately, the central capital was still held secure by the half-million Imperial Guards and fifty thousand Imperial Forest Army who obeyed the court's orders, along with the royal family's hidden reserves of power, barely managing to suppress the realm. As the Great Zhou's finances worsened and supernatural activities grew ever more frequent, the court sat atop a volcano. Ambitious plotters everywhere dreamed of overthrowing the dynasty, and even some reclusive ancient powers emerged, attempting to sway the tides of the world. At the first grand court assembly, the civil and military officials nearly came to blows, fighting tooth and nail over the allocation of fifty million taels of silver from the summer tax revenues. The spectacle opened Wang Hao's eyes—the Great Zhou's bureaucracy was not only corrupt but also martially proficient, a cabinet of all-rounders. Some officials even had the audacity to suggest the emperor release funds from the imperial privy purse to address the emergency. Wang Hao suddenly felt weary. Let it all burn.
