Recalling the Past

The Island of Wind and Moon has completely vanished from sight.

Yet, a brand new island is slowly rising, vibrant with life.

On this island, countless people who had been trapped in despair just moments ago were desperately calling for help, and in the next moment, a mysterious force transported them here, leaving them bewildered in this new environment.

Feng Qianyue suddenly awoke from atop a rock.

She hurriedly checked her body.

Not only was her dantian intact, her cultivation remained, and there wasn’t a single injury on her body.

Even the clothes she had been wearing, which had been tattered from her earlier ordeal, were now completely restored.

It was as if time had reversed, transporting her back to the moment before her incident.

Everything she had suffered in Withered Cliff Cave felt like a dream, or perhaps it never happened at all.

“Ling Bei!”

She suddenly remembered something and sprang to her feet, rushing toward the sea.

But after just a couple of steps, she noticed Feng Lingbei lying on a nearby rock, snoring lightly.

Seeing this, Feng Qianyue covered her mouth in excitement, tears of joy streaming down her face.

She looked up at the few remaining figures in black robes fading in the sky and immediately knelt down in reverence.

A voice echoed in her ear.

“Take good care of this place, work hard; you chosen ones must not let him down.”

Feng Qianyue understood the first part well.

Clearly, she was the new island master.

But the latter part left her confused.

She wanted to ask, but the figures in black robes had already vanished without a trace...

In a distant sea area,

Yi Feng lay half-reclined on a small island's beach, looking utterly despondent.

After leaving the Island of Wind and Moon, he finally encountered the legendary sea monster.

He was so excited!

But when that monstrous mouth lunged at him, a brilliant light erupted from his body, forming a dazzling protective shield.

The monster's teeth shattered upon impact, leaving him unharmed within the shield.

It was then that he realized the annoying nature of this armor of courage.

“Automatic protection? What a load of rubbish!”

“Old man, why did you give me this turtle shell? You’ve really screwed me over!”

Yi Feng lamented to the sky.

After a long while, he finally caught his breath and calmed down a bit.

“Ah, forget it.”

He sighed deeply, fiddling with his storage ring, pulling out a skeleton frame.

“Even though you’ve caused me trouble, I, Yi Feng, am still a reasonable person.”

“I brought you out because that cave was pitch black and suffocating.”

“Look at this small island; it may be small, but the scenery is nice.”

Yi Feng took out a shovel and dug a hole to bury the skeleton in the sand, firmly packing the earth down with his foot before stopping.

He then lay back down on the beach.

Having narrowly escaped death left him feeling lost, unsure of how to seek death next.

Just then, his hand brushed against something in the sand; picking it up, he found it was a celestial crystal.

“Wow, I didn’t expect to find a celestial crystal.”

Although it had taken him a while, at least it lifted Yi Feng's gloomy spirits a bit.

Just as he was about to happily pocket the celestial crystal, he suddenly remembered something and his expression turned serious.

He opened the system panel.

“Damn it, only one year of life left?”

Yi Feng raised his head slightly, his expression somewhat melancholic.

Pingjiang City.

It was a cold winter day.

Snow blanketed the ground, enveloping the entire world in a white shroud.

Even in places where snowflakes couldn’t reach, the cold wind would leave a thick layer of frost.

Inside a small martial arts school, a thin boy trembled against the woodpile, glancing at the frigid world outside as he took a bite of the last half-raw potato in the storeroom.

Living day to day, never knowing if he would have food tomorrow, had been his life since his parents passed away.

As a boy with hands and feet, he shouldn’t be in such a state.

But in a world of cultivation, without a background, without cultivation, and utterly powerless, merely having a roof over his head and surviving was already quite fortunate.

As a traveler in this world, his emotions had been on a rollercoaster lately.

He had finally obtained the legendary golden finger system, thinking it would change his fate and lead him to the pinnacle of life, only to find it utterly useless for him.

It claimed to grant him the world’s strongest fighter, and when he first saw it, he nearly died of fright.

He thought it would be powerful, but when he threw a punch, Yi Feng easily shattered it.

Since then, he had never looked at it again.

Another winter arrived.

The cold was still the same, and poverty remained unchanged.

The small martial arts school had no extra items apart from the tables and chairs.

In such weather, combined with his malnutrition from not having enough to eat, the boy finally fell ill, lying on a sickbed, barely clinging to life, his eyelids slowly drooping.

He saw the stars in the sky drawing closer to him.

The extreme cold that had gripped him now felt distant, replaced by a warm sensation.

But the boy knew he couldn’t hold on much longer.

His consciousness began to drift, becoming increasingly hazy.

He felt as if he were in boundless darkness, lost and directionless.

This state lasted for an unknown time.

Suddenly, a familiar voice broke through.

Though he couldn’t hear it clearly or see anything, the voice was like a lighthouse appearing in the endless darkness, guiding him toward a direction.

He strained to listen.

Heaven does not disappoint those who have a heart; slowly, the voice grew louder until he could finally understand its content.

“Abba Abba…”

Thus, the boy, whose consciousness had been fading, finally opened his eyes slowly.

What greeted him was a small white hand, holding a steaming potato and offering it to him.
