The韭菜Harvesters Are Coming

After being thwarted in the village, Yi Feng continued his search along the outskirts, hoping to encounter other demonic creatures or dangerous locations.

Though he hadn’t managed to die in the village, he had to admit that the demons there were quite formidable. If they hadn’t turned on each other, they might have actually succeeded in killing him.

And if luck was on his side, he might even stumble upon a powerful lone demon.

As Yi Feng walked down another path, his eyes suddenly lit up.

He chuckled to himself, thinking his luck had truly turned—whatever he wished for seemed to come true.

Up ahead stood a lone demonic beast he had never seen before. Towering several meters tall, it bore the massive head of a wolf, its razor-sharp fangs glinting menacingly.

"Those teeth are almost as terrifying as a T-Rex from my past life!"

Yi Feng eyed the beast’s fangs, sensing an opportunity.

The demonic beast, spotting Yi Feng, immediately grew restless. It never expected to stumble upon such a delicious meal in this place.

The wolf-headed monster lunged through the air, pouncing on Yi Feng and pinning him to the ground…

……

……

Fifteen minutes later…

Yi Feng’s clothes were torn to shreds, his undergarments barely clinging to his calves.

His face and neck were slick with the beast’s drool, remnants of its relentless biting.

Yet, the monster refused to give up. It continued pressing Yi Feng down, gnawing at him with its broken fangs in frustration before rearing up and slamming into him repeatedly.

Lying on the ground in tattered rags, Yi Feng remained expressionless, allowing the beast to maul him…

His eyes hollow, he felt utterly defeated.

It seemed he had resigned himself to this reality…

He never imagined this wolf-headed demon would be all bark and no bite. Despite giving it every chance to unleash its full power, it hadn’t left so much as a scratch on him…

Why was dying so damn difficult?!

Crack!

The monster’s last tooth shattered, landing on Yi Feng’s face with a clatter.

Yi Feng glanced at it, then casually picked up a nearby rock and smashed it against the beast’s skull. The creature collapsed instantly, dead beyond doubt.

Pulling up his tattered undergarments, Yi Feng winced at the sight of his ruined robes.

These had cost him a full three Celestial Crystals!

Even though he had billions to spare…

He pried open the wolf-headed monster’s skull and retrieved the gleaming demon core inside, consoling himself that it would at least cover the loss of his three-Celestial-Crystal robe.

Of course, he also made sure to collect the hundreds of demon cores from the previous village—the only thing that made this whole trip feel somewhat worthwhile.

Days passed in the blink of an eye.

During this time, Yi Feng circled the outskirts of Demon City multiple times. After the first village, he discovered several others.

As expected, each was teeming with demonic creatures.

Sensing a human’s presence, the demons in these villages fought over Yi Feng just like the first group had.

Though, admittedly, the later struggles weren’t as intense.

But what drove Yi Feng to despair was that despite their fearsome appearances, these demons were utterly useless. Aside from leaving a few marks that healed almost instantly, none posed any real threat to his life.

All they managed to do was ruin another set of robes—worth two Celestial Crystals this time.

Furious, Yi Feng slaughtered them all.

Meanwhile, in a hidden location within Demon City…

Two figures knelt on the ground, their appearances human-like. Yet, upon closer inspection, their movements seemed slightly off.

Before them swirled a dense black mist.

A voice emerged from the mist.

"Gou Da, Gou Er, how is your training progressing?"

"Reporting to you, my lord, we’ve made some progress, but we still need to refine certain finer movements," the two replied respectfully.

"Good. Remember—to infiltrate human society undetected, you must maintain your human forms at all times. Strive to blend in seamlessly, indistinguishable from real humans," the voice from the mist intoned gravely. "Only then will your past failures in the Forest of Terror be forgiven…"

"Yes, my lord!"

Just then, another wisp of black mist drifted in from outside, morphing into a demonic beast that knelt before them.

"My lord, there’s trouble outside the city."

"What kind of trouble?"

"Reports indicate that several villages have been completely wiped out. The culprit is suspected to be human."

"Hmph. Humans again?"

The voice from the mist turned icy.

"Over the years, they’ve sent many experts to probe Demon City. Do they still not have enough corpses?"

His gaze then shifted to Gou Da and Gou Er.

Sensing his attention, the two knelt even lower.

"Take your hound kin and bring me that human’s head."

The command was absolute.

"As you command!"

Gou Da and Gou Er responded respectfully, then transformed into two wisps of black mist and vanished.

Before long,

the two reappeared outside the Demon City.

Behind them stood a hundred dog-headed demon soldiers, clad in uniform armor and wielding standardized weapons.

"Who would've thought!"

Gou Da gazed at the hundred-strong canine demon troops behind him, brimming with pride. "But let’s not forget the grace our lord has shown us!"

"Indeed, our lord has been so kind to us..."

Gou Er was equally moved, his tongue lolling out unconsciously as he panted, "Huff huff... When we were squad leaders and lost all our low-tier demons to slaughter, the lord didn’t reprimand us. Even after losing the Forest of Terror, he said nothing. And now, he’s entrusted us with the critical mission of infiltrating the humans... Huff huff... Truly touching..."

"Though this human skin feels rather uncomfortable,"

Gou Da grumbled, waddling awkwardly with splayed feet.

"What can we do? Huff huff..." Gou Er stuck out his tongue again. "This is the task our lord assigned—to maintain human forms at all times from now on... Huff huff..."

"Fine, let’s go. First, we’ll kill that human outside the city."

Gou Da led the way with his splayed gait.

"Huff huff... Sounds good..."

Gou Er hurried after him.

Meanwhile, Yi Feng, having just slaughtered another village of demons, lost all patience and turned toward the Demon City.

He decided to simply march in through the gates.

If there were humans inside, great—his mouth had been craving flavor lately.

If it had fallen to the demons, even better. A city likely housed higher-tier fiends.

After a few steps, he spotted a pack of dog-headed soldiers flying toward him.

Gou Da and Gou Er also noticed Yi Feng walking below.

"It really is a human."

"Men, attack!"

"Kill him, and there’ll be rich rewards!"

Gou Da and Gou Er eagerly exercised their authority.

The disciplined canine demons surged forward in unison, their demonic aura billowing like a tidal wave.

"Uniformed and well-trained!"

Yi Feng’s gloom momentarily lifted at the sight of these orderly dog-headed troops. He never imagined demons could be so organized.

But his hope shattered the next instant.

A dog-headed soldier’s slash at his neck felt like a tickle...

"Another bunch of useless trash."

"Time to end this."

Expressionless, Yi Feng drew his sword and began cutting them down.

"Well, well, he’s got some skill!"

"Seems we’ll have to step in ourselves."

"Actually, this is perfect—more credit for us if he’s strong!"

"Hey, human! Prepare to die!"

From behind the canine ranks, Gou Da and Gou Er leaped into the air, dashing toward Yi Feng with lightning speed, their auras menacing.

As they closed in, Gou Da rubbed his eyes.

"Brother... does he look familiar?"

No response. He glanced sideways and saw Gou Er with his tongue hanging out, legs pumping frantically as he scrambled backward.

"What’s wrong, brother?" he shouted.

"Run, big bro! It’s the Reaper!" Gou Er yelled.

"The what?"

Gou Da froze for a second before it hit him.

"Gah!"

"Why didn’t you say so sooner?!"

Splaying his feet wider, Gou Da bolted after Gou Er.
