My Brother Owes Me Two Lives

Knowing Guan En's clear stance, Zhu Yan felt a wicked sense of excitement.

Just like how he used to occasionally tease his younger brother, he wanted to mess with Guan En a bit.

"Is that so."

Zhu Yan nodded.

"But what makes you think that as long as you stop me in advance, the instance won't start?"

He narrowed his eyes, looking at the gun whose safety had still not been taken off.

"If we execute your plan..."

"After the instance begins, there are only two possibilities."

"One is that we are both in the instance, and you stop me. Then the instance will directly determine that you have completed the task, and I will die."

Guan En's brow twitched, and his expression slowly changed.

Yes.

There was indeed this possibility!

Zhu Yan leaned back, observing Guan En's expression with great interest.

"The other is that we have already left. But, we are both alive, and the instance determines that we are late, so we will both die."

The color slowly drained from Guan En's face.

It seemed this player was right.

Guan En also couldn't be sure if Carnival Paradise would show mercy as he hoped.

What should he do?

Guan En's hands trembled slightly.

Did he really have to kill someone?

"I..."

Zhu Yan stared at the gun in his hand, concentrating his mind.

The current situation was thrilling and interesting, but also dangerous.

The moment Guan En took off the safety, he would immediately activate his ability Bully!

"You act like you really want to save people, Officer Guan."

Zhu Yan counted the time; there was probably about a minute left.

He had obtained the treasure. When the time came, as long as he pierced the chair with his dagger, everything would be over.

The power trying to merge into his body was already getting a bit frantic. Zhu Yan had to pause for a moment before he could continue speaking.

"Someone like you is the one who truly treats human life like dirt. I don't think you need to put on such a kind facade."

"After all, when you first communicated with the landlord, you never considered my situation."

Guan En's lips looked even paler; he couldn't defend himself.

All of this player's speculations pointed to one result: the two of them could not survive at the same time.

Guan En could only trade for his own life by firing the gun.

But, killing someone?

This went against his identity and the education he had received.

In contrast, he seemed to find it easier to understand a happy ending for everyone, or even sacrifice.

Especially since the young man in front of him was very likely innocent.

The time should be up.

Zhu Yan felt the phone in his pocket.

He stared intently at Guan En's movements, turned on the phone's lock screen, took it out, and quickly glanced at it from the corner of his eye.

The instance had officially begun.

He no longer needed to mess with the other party's mind and could officially take action.

"However, I have some good news to tell you..."

Zhu Yan said with a slight smile, drawing Guan En's attention to him.

"I actually have a way to ensure that neither of us dies."

"Officer Guan, why do you always owe me your life?"

Guan En didn't know whether he should believe him or not.

Just as he was about to speak, Zhu Yan suddenly pulled out his dagger and swiftly and forcefully stabbed it into that inconspicuous, broken armchair!

"You—"

Bang!

The bullet grazed the top of Zhu Yan's ducking head and shattered the carved glass window.

However, Zhu Yan was faster.

He had already crashed into Guan En, and with a thought, activated his ability Bully!

Everything happened within two seconds—

Guan En felt all the strength in his body being drained away.

He fell to the ground, watching Zhu Yan pick up the dropped firearm.

He wanted to activate his own ability Precision Suppression, but the other party had already quickly run out of the attic, and his footsteps faded away within a few seconds.

Two pieces of yellow paper fluttered down onto him. Guan En struggled desperately, trying to muster some strength.

He felt the floor beneath him begin to tremble slightly, and some dust shook loose from the beams onto his skin.

Guan En widened his eyes in panic.

He didn't know if it was an illusion, but the roof beams above his head seemed to be slowly melting, like candles burned by a flame.

Zhu Yan also felt it; the force squeezing him had disappeared.

The entire house began to tremble. Zhu Yan ran quickly down the stairs and heard the chewing sounds of the Plague Demon in the room abruptly stop.

Zhu Yan cursed inwardly. Clutching the bathrobe that once belonged to the Plague Demon, he dashed madly toward the door.

It had been almost a minute. Why hasn't this broken house collapsed yet?

If the Plague Demon discovered everything and fought him over a few bone gold coins, he would be doomed!

Zhu Yan sprinted into the garden and stopped to catch his breath.

It was early morning, exactly when the sky was at its darkest.

The faint light from the streetlamps barely illuminated the silhouette of the Man-Eating House.

It was probably Zhu Yan's stab that took effect; it no longer looked like a modern villa.

Zhu Yan couldn't help but feel a sense of novelty.

This was a building that blended the styles of at least three or four eras.

The top floor was an old house built of coarse stones, and the roof had already melted like ice cream.

A section below looked like a modern small villa, which was also becoming soft.

Through the second-floor window, he saw the dark figure of the Plague Demon standing up crookedly.

Its head turned around in confusion, unclear about what had happened.

A few seconds later, it still turned and pushed open the room door, disappearing from Zhu Yan's line of sight.

Oh no.

It was about to find out!

However, the instance had not yet announced its end, so he couldn't leave yet.

Zhu Yan wiped the cold sweat seeping from his forehead, wanting to find a place to hide temporarily.

Fortunately, the Man-Eating House melted faster than he had imagined.

In just a few seconds, the seemingly intact outer walls, along with the facilities inside, collapsed with a loud crash, melting into a large puddle of thick wax the moment they hit the ground.

As this warm liquid splattered due to gravity, Zhu Yan raised his hand to wipe off the part that had splashed onto his face.

He saw Guan En struggling to stand up from the ruins of the Man-Eating House, stumbling toward him.

The man was still clutching the two Sublease Contracts in his hand; Zhu Yan wasn't sure if he had had time to read them.

However, that didn't matter.

Zhu Yan pulled the handgun out from the bathrobe, aiming the muzzle straight at Guan En.

"Don't come closer," he threatened loudly and coldly. "I'm not as soft-hearted as you."

Another, larger shadow slowly stood up from the ruins—it was the Plague Demon.

Its angry roar mixed with a pleasant female voice, making Zhu Yan feel a sense of relief in his heart.

"Congratulations, player. You have successfully cleared the level in an unconventional way, ending the instance quite rapidly."

Guan En seemed to have heard the same announcement, as he froze, the hand gripping the contract paper trembling even more violently.

"Congratulations, player. You were carried once again and luckily cleared the instance."

The blurred name on the Sublease Contract and the mark unique to human players stung Guan En's eyes.

"...Someone like you is the one who truly treats human life like dirt."

This sentence echoed in his empty mind, leaving him in a daze.

Zhu Yan did not lower the handgun.

The Plague Demon had already stood up, clutching the last half of a human leg dripping with filthy liquid.

The female voice continued its pleasant broadcast.

"According to standard procedure, we should immediately teleport you back to the real world."

"However, considering the insurmountable obstacles you will face in the real world, we have decided to leave the choice in your hands."

"You may focus your gaze here, choose to summon the Monster Tram, and remain here to wait for its arrival."

"A friendly reminder: to you, the Monster Tram is not as safe as the Hall of Mourning."

"You must choose the station where you get off with utmost caution!"
