Suspicious Person

Looking at the text message from Xia Yueshan, Lin Yu rubbed his temples in frustration.

This guy!

He shouldn’t have told him about the possibility of his sister being assaulted in the first place.

Now, every man he sees is automatically a suspect with ill intentions toward his sister.

How many "suspects" had he forwarded in just the past month?

At least two a day on average.

Even though Lin Yu knew the so-called "target" was likely another false alarm, he still adopted a "better safe than sorry" approach and sent a voice message:

"Do you have a photo? Send it to me."

Soon enough, a photo popped up on Lin Yu’s phone.

Opening it, he sighed at the unfamiliar face and replied with a resigned tone:

"It’s not him."

Xia Yueshan: Are you sure?

Xia Yueshan: But he seems really suspicious!

Xia Yueshan: After my sister and I entered the supermarket, we "coincidentally" ran into him seven times!

Xia Yueshan: And every time, his eyes kept darting toward my sister. When I glared at him, he’d panic and look away.

Xia Yueshan: Something’s off about him!

Xia Yueshan: Really off!

As Xia Yueshan’s messages flooded in, Lin Yu rolled his eyes but forced himself to respond patiently to avoid discouraging him.

Lin Yu: Nothing’s off.

Lin Yu: Given your sister’s looks and figure, getting a few stares is completely normal.

Lin Yu: And running into someone multiple times in a supermarket isn’t that unlikely.

Lin Yu: Your vigilance is commendable, but don’t go seeing enemies everywhere.

After sending the messages, the other end fell silent. Lin Yu shook his head and set his phone aside, about to resume eating when another notification—marked as a priority—chimed.

Xia Yueshan: How can you tell at a glance that he’s not the one who’d harm my sister?

Xia Yueshan: Do you actually know what that person looks like?

Reading the messages, Lin Yu hesitated. If he said yes, Xia Yueshan might press for details he couldn’t provide. If he said no, how could he be so sure this guy wasn’t a threat?

After a moment’s thought, Lin Yu decided to fall back on mysticism again.

Lin Yu: I don’t know his appearance, but if I saw him, I’d recognize him instantly.

Lin Yu: Just like how I sensed the ominous fate looming over your sister.

Xia Yueshan: Oh.

Xia Yueshan: Alright then.

Xia Yueshan: By the way, there’s another guy who "coincidentally" crossed paths with my sister five times. He looks shifty—totally untrustworthy. Want me to send his photo too?

Lin Yu clicked his tongue in irritation, about to refuse, when he suddenly remembered the mysterious force of fate possibly pulling the strings behind the scenes.

What if it really was him?

After a pause, Lin Yu replied.

Lin Yu: Send it over!

...

Lin Yu: Not him either.

Xia Yueshan: Fine.

Xia Yueshan: Hey, are you free tonight?

Lin Yu: What’s up?

Lin Yu: Something going on?

Xia Yueshan: My sister’s best friend is coming over for dinner. She wants you to join us.

Lin Yu: I’m free. I’ll be there.

Xia Yueshan: OK!

Lin Yu: OK!
