No Need to Block, This Is Art

The full version of this movie has a total runtime of 227 minutes, but that's not the official cut.

The officially released version had some scenes trimmed that didn't affect the story, so the final theatrical version was only 194 minutes, but that's still long at 3.2 hours.

When this version first hit theaters, the scene where Jack paints Rose was kept completely intact, but after later re-releases, some of the more adult scenes were cut.

But right now, Su Yang was playing the uncut version.

That said, he didn't even notice the small "uncut" label next to the movie title; he just assumed he was watching the edited version.

Watching a romance film made the atmosphere much more relaxed. Han So-yeon got up and grabbed the unfinished beer from earlier, clinking it against Su Yang's.

"Cheers."

"We had a drink together back in Japan, but back then neither of us drank much. How's your tolerance?" Su Yang said with a smile.

"Pretty average. Not great, but not terrible either."

"How much beer can you drink?"

"For these 250-milliliter cans, maybe seven or eight of them."

"Oh? That's not bad."

"What about you?" Han So-yeon asked back.

"Me? I can keep going forever." Su Yang held up a finger and grinned.

"Forever? You're that good at drinking?"

"Not bad, I guess."

"Modest. Come on, drink."

"Alright."

Just then, it hit midnight. The two of them leaned against the headboard, watching the movie and drinking. Earlier, when they were watching the horror film, the atmosphere was too tense and the plot too fast-paced, so they never got a chance to drink.

Su Yang had only finished one and a half cans, and Han So-yeon hadn't even finished her first one yet.

But since this movie was quite long, the pacing at the start was pretty slow.

The two of them chatted now and then, discussing the plot.

However, as the story progressed, they set their beers aside for the moment. The screen was now playing the scene where Jack boards the ship.

After drinking, Han So-yeon's face flushed slightly. She was far from drunk, but her cheeks and neck had turned red.

She nestled against Su Yang's chest, watching the movie intently.

The film soon reached a small climax. Rose, unwilling to marry her fiancé Cal, had the idea of suicide. Under the cover of night, she sneaked alone to the deck, ready to jump into the sea.

At the critical moment, the male lead stepped in and made the female lead change her mind, abandoning the thought of jumping. The two of them connected because of this.

Not long after, the plot moved to the next evening's dinner party. The male lead put on a sharp suit and slicked his hair back into a neat comb-over, his looks rivaling Su Yang's and completely captivating the female lead.

After the dinner, the male lead invited the female lead for a stroll. The scene shifted, and the two were chatting at the bow of the ship.

The male lead stood behind the female lead, his arms wrapped around her waist. The sea breeze blew over them, their hair streaming in the wind. The camera pulled back, and the familiar score began to play—one of the most iconic shots in movie history.

Seeing this, Han So-yeon got goosebumps all over and smiled. "So romantic~"

They continued watching. Next came the scene of Jack and Rose kissing passionately at the bow of the ship, their feelings heating up.

Han So-yeon pursed her lips, sneaking a glance at Su Yang before quickly looking back at the screen.

After the bow scene ended, because the male lead was a painter, the female lead invited him to her room to paint her.

Su Yang turned to grab his beer and took a sip.

The male lead pulled out his sketch kit, moved the sofa into position, and then the stunningly built female lead walked out of the bathroom wearing a black outfit.

The two exchanged a few brief words, and the female lead took out a coin and handed it to the male lead. "You better draw me well—I paid for this."

She stepped back a couple of paces as she said it. Seeing this, Han So-yeon frowned slightly. She sensed something a bit off about the female lead's movements and asked, "What is she doing?"

"Uh... nothing, just drawing, nothing—" Su Yang's words were cut short as his eyes suddenly went wide.

"What the hell?! Is this for real?"

Both pairs of eyes stared at the screen, frozen on the bed. The atmosphere turned awkward and stiff for a moment.

'Dear God! That's the original cut?!' Su Yang screamed internally.

Han So-yeon was completely dumbstruck. She swallowed hard, then quietly reached over to pick up a throw pillow and covered her eyes with it.

Seeing this, Su Yang reached out and pulled the pillow away. "No need to hide it—this is art. Can't miss a single second."

This scene went on for about three minutes, and Han So-yeon's already flushed cheeks turned even redder.

Neither of them said a word, awkwardly watching the moment play out.

"Whew, finally finished drawing."

The movie soon cut to the part where the male and female leads were being chased and ran all the way to the lower cabin of the ocean liner. The two sat down in an old-fashioned car.

Su Yang suddenly remembered there was another cringe-worthy scene coming up here. He rubbed his nose and said, "So, um, So-yeon, do you need to use the bathroom?"

Han So-yeon had already forgotten about the earlier scene, now watching intently.

She shook her head. "No."

"Alright then."

On screen, the female lead, sitting in the back seat, pulled the male lead from the front toward her.

They gazed deeply into each other's eyes, then got down to business as the classic soundtrack slowly swelled again.

But this part wasn't anything uncomfortable to watch. Han So-yeon didn't feel awkward at all—she only felt it was romantic, her eyes sparkling as she watched with full attention.

Su Yang tilted his head, glanced at her, and smiled softly before turning back to the screen.

The movie soon reached its climax—the ship eventually collided with the iceberg.

What followed was a tragic sequence: the ship sank completely, and the people aboard screamed and shouted in despair.

Han So-yeon's eyes welled with tears.

At last, in the freezing sea, the male lead pushed the female lead onto a floating piece of wood, while half of his own body stayed submerged in the water.

Seeing this, Han So-yeon could no longer hold it in. Tears slid silently down her cheeks, and her body began to tremble slightly.

Su Yang grabbed a few tissues and handed them to her.

With the emotional score building up, the final scene of the couple adrift on the ocean was just too heartbreaking.

Han So-yeon sobbed uncontrollably, her face streaked with tears as she kept sniffling. Su Yang wrapped an arm around her and gently patted her shoulder.

In the end, the male lead, exhausted, sank beneath the waves, and the female lead was rescued.

The film closed with an elderly female lead recalling her memories, freezing on the scene where the two first met—kissing by the grand clock on the ship's staircase.

Three-plus hours ended in the blink of an eye.

From the sinking onward, Han So-yeon hadn't stopped crying. As the end-credits theme began to play, she could no longer hold it in and turned to bury her face in Su Yang's chest, weeping.

Su Yang stroked her hair and comforted her. "Don't cry, don't cry. It's okay."

To be honest, it wasn't just her—he'd watched this movie twice before, and even now, it still stung a little. This film had a heavy aftereffect.

Han So-yeon kept sobbing for over ten minutes, soaking a large patch of Su Yang's shirt with tears.

She slowly lifted her head and looked at him. "I shouldn't have watched it. I feel so awful now."

"Here, wipe your nose, snot's showing." Su Yang pulled out two more tissues and handed them to her.

"Ugh, you had to see me in such a mess, so annoying!"

"It's fine! You're my girlfriend now, what's so weird about that?" Su Yang chuckled.

Han So-yeon wiped her nose, took a deep breath, then turned around, opened a can of beer, and downed it in one go.

"Whoa, slow down with that."

"Phew~ I can't believe the director made Jack die! Why couldn't it have been a happy ending?!"

Su Yang smiled. "If it had a happy ending, this movie wouldn't be such a classic."

"But it makes me so sad." Han So-yeon said, sitting up and looking at Su Yang. "Why aren't you affected?"

"Because I've seen it twice." Su Yang held up two fingers.

"Fine."

"Don't move, you've got an eyelash at the corner of your eye." Su Yang leaned in and gently used his index finger to pick a long eyelash off the corner of Han So-yeon's eye.

The two were now very close, and Han So-yeon's heart suddenly sped up. She stared at Su Yang, lightly biting her lip and swallowing hard.

Her mind went completely blank, and her body, without any control, leaned forward on its own, closing the distance between them...
