Do You Understand the Basic Principles of Audio Recording

At the entrance of the Jin Kela Feed Factory.

This was also the base headquarters of Yanhuang Juexing.

Lin Mo, feeling the stares of so many eyes, finished his breakfast and returned to his room before setting out.

Otherwise, he feared that walking out the front door would attract too much attention, making him look like he was fleeing in guilt.

So slipping away directly from his room was the best option.

Just as he reached the entrance, he saw Dongfang Shuye, still driving his old chopped-toufu-head car.

"Looks like it's going to be troublesome," Lin Mo said lightly.

His tone was relaxed, but Dongfang Shuye wasn't as carefree.

"Next time you see those old fogies, don't act rashly. Ignore whatever they say. If it comes to blows..."

"If it comes to blows," Lin Mo cut in, "Long Tianqi won't be able to stop me. I mean it."

This reminded Dongfang Shuye that Lin Mo was a veritable demon.

He was truly capable of killing.

"Forget it, I'll have the director hold those old coots back."

The chopped-toufu-head car moved forward.

Lin Mo wasn't bothered. Innocent men can't fake guilt, and no one could wrong him without cause.

"Last night, no one could verify your whereabouts..."

"I live alone. Where am I supposed to find an alibi? And even if I had one, no one would believe it," Lin Mo said from the passenger seat, waving a hand dismissively.

In his view, he had no way to prove his innocence.

Because every means of doing so could be fabricated.

So the real question was: why should he have to clear his name?

The elevator descended.

Familiar underground base, familiar metal corridor.

Dongfang Shuye led the way, his steps quick and urgent.

Lin Mo followed, keenly aware of the gazes coming at him from all directions—cold, wary, and laced with a faint trace of hostility.

On both sides of the hallway, workers who were busy with their tasks slowed down as he passed. Whispers were low, but not low enough to escape his ears.

And so, another question arose.

Wasn't Yanhuang Juexing supposed to be the top organization in the country? How could they not even manage basic information security?

Or was this news deliberately leaked with tacit approval?

Pushing open the familiar office door.

Long Tianqi was sitting before a computer, looking up as the two entered. When she saw Lin Mo's utterly nonchalant face—complete with a look of someone ready for a show—an uncontrollable flame of anger flared within her.

"You actually dared to come here," Long Tianqi said, her voice tight with barely suppressed fury.

"The entire base wants to tear you apart right now."

Lin Mo shrugged indifferently, walked over, and plopped down on the sofa, crossing his legs.

"Come on, man," he said, spreading his hands with an innocent expression.

"I haven't done anything. I wake up and suddenly I'm hit with this huge accusation?"

"Anyone with half a brain can see it's a framing job—this clumsy method. Are all of you at Yanhuang Juexing this basic?"

The office door swung open again.

Xu Wendong walked in, his leather shoes making a dull thud on the floor. With a stern face, he carried a player to the desk and placed it down.

"True, I believe this is a case of someone framing you. This is a recording from the black box. Consultant Lin, you can listen."

He pressed the play button.

After a brief burst of static, Qin Suishou's voice rang out.

"Lin Mo! Is it you! Come out!"

Dongfang Shuye added, "It's probably because you sealed his powers last night, so he thinks it was you."

Lin Mo said nothing, raising a hand to signal for them to keep listening.

The recording continued, laced with heavy panting.

"So it is you! I'm not afraid of you!"

Then, a voice that sounded almost exactly like Lin Mo's—stiff and theatrical—came through.

"How naive."

"Bang! Bang!"

Two dull impacts, like something heavy striking flesh.

"Boom!"

A violent explosion followed, the recording momentarily distorting from the overload.

"This is the fate of those who cross me."

The mimicking voice concluded with a sinister tone.

The recording ended. The office fell into dead silence.

Lin Mo shook his head. "Amateur hour. Basic recording principles, anyone? Is this rock-solid evidence? Even Yu Zecheng wouldn't buy that."

Xu Wendong nodded solemnly. "Indeed. I haven't believed it either, but..."

Lin Mo looked up at him. "But this recording has probably reached every member of Yanhuang Juexing, hasn't it? It should be simple to find out who released it. Just give me that person's name, and I'll decide if it was intentional or just a 'slip of the finger.'"

He spoke lightly, but his words made Long Tianqi, who had been silent, abruptly stand.

Her gaze, sharp as two scalpels, locked onto Lin Mo.

"The real issue now is how you prove your innocence."

"Oh?" Lin Mo finally looked her in the eye, a mocking smile curling at his lips. "Why should I prove it? Am I some kind of fool? The one who alleges should present the evidence. How about you prove your own innocence first?"

Before he finished speaking, Lin Mo snapped his fingers without warning.

The black player on the table flickered and began playing again on its own.

This time, though, it emitted Xu Wendong's signature low voice:

"How naive."

Xu Wendong scoffed involuntarily, glancing at the player in alarm, then at Lin Mo.

"So basic," Lin Mo muttered, shaking his head.

He didn't even look at Xu Wendong, snapping his fingers again.

The player's voice shifted again, this time to Long Tianqi's cold, hard tone, a perfect replica of her previous accusation.

Lin Mo stared at Long Tianqi. "Now, you need to prove your innocence."

Long Tianqi's face turned grim in an instant.

As if enjoying the game, Lin Mo turned his gaze to Dongfang Shuye, who had been watching the scene.

"Snap!"

A third finger snap.

Dongfang Shuye's lazy, easygoing voice drifted lazily from the player.

Dongfang Shuye rubbed his nose, his expression unreadable, a wry smile playing on his lips.

Lin Mo leaned back, resting on the sofa, calmly observing Long Tianqi's now livid face.

"See? This little trick of yours—I can make it say whatever I want."

"So," he said, his voice low but striking each word like a hammer into everyone's hearts, "now, who needs to prove their innocence?"

The entire office fell utterly silent.

Lin Mo turned his head to face Xu Wendong.

"Minister Xu," he said, "in your opinion, what are the odds that I could kill Qin Suishou without any of you discovering it at all?"
