There was a lot to unpack in this scene.
Tong Dong's brain short-circuited for a moment. His gaze darted back and forth between the two of them, his mouth slightly agape.
"What are you guys... doing..."
A thought flashed through Lin Mo's mind: thank goodness it was Tong Dong who had walked in.
If it had been that loudmouth Fang Jun, he probably would have jumped up by now, pointing right at Dongfang Shuye's nose and screaming at a volume that could blow the roof off:
"Old Mo! Why is there a man in your room! Are you gay?!"
But Tong Dong was different. He was just a little surprised and waited for Lin Mo's explanation, so Lin Mo simply shrugged.
"Let me introduce you. This is Dongfang Shuye, a friend of mine from Tianjing. He's in charge of the network here. My computer's ethernet cable was acting up earlier, so I called for maintenance. It turned out to be him, and now he's just slacking off in my room."
Dongfang Shuye smiled and nodded. "Yeah, Lin Mo and I met playing games. I didn't expect him to be here either."
Tong Dong paused for a moment. The explanation felt a bit forced, but after thinking about it, it actually seemed quite reasonable.
He looked at Lin Mo, then at Dongfang Shuye.
"So, are we going to go eat?"
"Let's go, we'll eat together."
"Sounds good. After eating, I can get off work too."
Tong Dong didn't press the matter any further, and the three of them headed downstairs.
After all, it was mealtime, and it was perfectly normal for friends to eat together.
Although Dongfang Shuye had a lot of things he wanted to ask Lin Mo, at a time like this, eating came first.
Getting enough sleep, followed by a good meal, was more important than anything else.
Arriving at the cafeteria, there were quite a few people around since it was mealtime.
However, there were even more empty seats.
At this point, Tong Dong couldn't help but ask Dongfang Shuye, "Brother... Brother Shu, there aren't actually that many people here, so why are there so many serving windows?"
Dongfang Shuye wasn't flustered by the question. Instead, he explained earnestly:
"There are actually a lot of people here, it's just that everyone has different eating schedules. Plus, there are still many who haven't arrived yet. You two are considered quite early to report in here."
Put that way, Tong Dong understood.
Afterwards, the three of them went their separate ways to pick out what they wanted to eat.
Lin Mo once again piled his plate high.
After eating and drinking their fill, Dongfang Shuye looked at Lin Mo.
But Lin Mo didn't look back at him. Instead, he used his divine sense to transmit a message.
"Stop staring at your daddy. Wait for me outside, I'll be down in a bit."
Dongfang Shuye hadn't expected Lin Mo to be capable of telepathic transmission. Although surprised, he managed to restrain himself and cleared his throat.
"Alright, dinner's over. I need to head home and catch up on some more sleep," Dongfang Shuye said, stretching lazily.
Lin Mo swiped on his phone, looking at the messages in the class group chat, and nodded.
"Sure, see you tomorrow."
Tong Dong also waved his hand. "See you tomorrow then, Brother Shu."
With that said, Lin Mo led Tong Dong toward the elevator without looking back.
Tong Dong glanced back at the stretching Dongfang Shuye before following Lin Mo back to the residential area.
After Lin Mo left, Qin Suishou appeared out of nowhere.
"What? Spending the whole afternoon in Lin Mo's room, what were you guys up to?"
Dongfang Shuye was in the middle of a yawn but replied bluntly, "None of your damn business. If you have the guts, go ask Lin Mo directly."
Qin Suishou was instantly left speechless.
Who didn't know how formidable Lin Mo was? Even if they hadn't seen it with their own eyes, a man's reputation preceded him. It was definitely right to be careful.
Dongfang Shuye looked at Qin Suishou.
"Beast, if your family is involved in this, turn yourselves in as soon as possible. Otherwise, when that guy Lin Mo makes his move, he really won't show any mercy."
Qin Suishou turned his head away and scoffed coldly.
"This has nothing to do with my Qin family. Do whatever you please."
Dongfang Shuye stared intently at Qin Suishou and finally nodded.
"Fine, whatever you say."
With that, he turned and walked outside.
After waiting for about ten minutes, Lin Mo finally walked out of the building.
His pace was unhurried, and his face showed not the slightest hint of impatience. It was as if he were just going for a stroll later, rather than dealing with some serious business.
He immediately spotted Dongfang Shuye leaning lazily against a pillar by the entrance. This sheer indolence was truly eye-catching.
Lin Mo raised an eyebrow and couldn't help but say, "Are you kidding me? I told you to wait for me, and you really just stood here waiting? You could have at least gotten a car."
Hearing this, Dongfang Shuye's body finally shifted slightly. He turned his head, his eyes carrying a trace of pure confusion. "We need a car?"
Lin Mo sighed in exasperation. He originally thought this guy was quite smart, but now he felt he was just a lucky fool.
"Forget it, let's go."
He walked straight out of the building, his gaze sweeping across the street.
A black sedan was parked not far away, its sleek lines reflecting a dim luster under the streetlights.
Sure enough, it was the same car from the morning.
Lin Mo walked over to the passenger side and raised his hand to knock on the window.
The window slowly rolled down, revealing two familiar faces.
The two agents inside were the very same members of Yanhuang Awakening who had escorted him to watch the flag-raising ceremony that morning.
They clearly hadn't expected Lin Mo to walk right over, a fleeting look of astonishment crossing their faces.
"Thanks for your hard work. You can get off shift now."
Lin Mo's tone was calm, yet it carried an unquestionable authority. He leaned in slightly and pointed inside. "We're commandeering this car."
The two agents exchanged a glance, and then their eyes drifted past Lin Mo's shoulder to land on Dongfang Shuye, who was standing a few steps behind him.
Dongfang Shuye looked slightly helpless but still gave them a nod, tacitly confirming Lin Mo's statement.
With that, the two agents had no further objections.
They were well-trained. Even though they had some doubts in their hearts, executing orders was instinctual.
The two of them quickly unbuckled their seatbelts, pushed open the doors, and neatly vacated the driver and passenger seats.
Lin Mo pulled open the passenger door and got in, his movements as practiced as if the car had always belonged to him.
Without even looking back, he tilted his chin at Dongfang Shuye, who was standing by the car. "You drive."
Dongfang Shuye walked over to the driver's side, opened the door, and got in.
He adjusted the rearview mirror, turned his head, and complained slightly, "Why don't you drive? How am I supposed to know where we're going?"
Lin Mo leaned back in his seat, looking relaxed, even a bit lethargic.
He cast a sideways glance at Dongfang Shuye and said in an even tone, "I don't have a driver's license yet. Driving without a license means I'd have to bear legal responsibility. Don't you understand that?"
Outside the car, the two agents whose ride had just been commandeered were about to leave, but upon hearing this, their footsteps suddenly halted.
Their expressions turned peculiar. They wanted to laugh but didn't dare, forcing themselves to hold it in while their shoulders trembled slightly.
In front of Dongfang Shuye, they truly didn't dare laugh out loud, lest they get on this big shot's bad side.
Hearing Lin Mo's reasoning, Dongfang Shuye seemed to choke on his words and remained silent for a long moment.
Ultimately, he just gave a soft hmph, retracted his gaze, and steered the car away from the curb.
"Let's go. Let me see exactly who planted a bomb under my bed."
Lin Mo closed his eyes, looking as though he were resting to conserve his energy, or perhaps just enjoying this brief moment of tranquility. His voice was low, yet it carried a piercing sharpness.
