The day of the sports meet.

Two girls appeared on the track field, but the spectator stands around them were already packed. After all, students didn’t have to attend classes during the sports meet, so they were happily snacking and chattering away. The event lasted for several days and wasn’t even mandatory. Even staying in the classroom and playing on their phones was perfectly fine.

The sky was a clear blue, and the breeze was gentle. The spring sports meet was far more comfortable than the one held in autumn.

“Keke, there are so many people.” Dressed in a white tracksuit, Bai Yuyou was also searching the crowd for Ye Shuang. She didn’t know whether he had arrived at the field yet, but he had said that he would be participating in the events too.

“Keke, where’s our class? I can’t find it.” Tang Keke asked as well. They had changed into their sportswear in the locker room before coming over, but there were simply too many students in the stands. On top of that, the different departments weren’t seated in any particular order, so their eyes had already gone blurry from searching.

“It looks like it’s in the corner.” Bai Yuyou seemed to have noticed something, and her gaze landed to one side.

“Where? Where? Did you see our class sign?” Tang Keke immediately looked over, but she couldn’t see anything. All she could make out were densely packed heads.

Bai Yuyou said softly, “I see Peach.”

“You didn’t see the sign—you saw a person?” Tang Keke followed Bai Yuyou’s line of sight. She narrowed her eyes and stared for several seconds before finally noticing what seemed to be Peach’s figure.

Seriously? She could see someone from that far away?

After locating their class, Bai Yuyou and Keke walked over. As they passed along the track, they naturally attracted a great deal of attention. Bai Yuyou’s thighs, in particular, were so dazzlingly white beneath the sunlight that they practically glowed with youthful energy.

“What the hell are you looking at?” one boy was scolded by his girlfriend before she smacked him.

After returning to their class, Bai Yuyou and Keke saw Peach sitting in her seat, staring blankly into the distance. She remained completely motionless.

“Peach, what are you thinking about?” Keke asked curiously.

Peach seemed to come back to herself, and her gaze fell on Bai Yuyou and Keke. “Nothing.”

“Really?”

“There are so many people at the sports meet. If I sold some snacks, I could make quite a bit of money. But Brother Ye told me not to do that anymore, so I don’t really know what I’m supposed to do.” Peach spoke with some uncertainty. Although she no longer needed to rely on such methods to make money, she still couldn’t help thinking about how to earn as much as possible.

After all, she had struggled for more than a decade. Changing those habits in just a year or two was easier said than done.

“How much could you even make selling snacks? You could always take bets instead,” Tang Keke said with a grin.

Peach was stunned. “Take bets?”

“For example, betting on which class will come in first. Like sports betting,” Keke explained.

“School rules don’t allow gambling. Haven’t you heard the saying, ‘Nine out of ten gamblers lose’?” Peach said. “I can’t do anything illegal.”

Seeing Peach sitting there looking restless, Keke added, “Does this count as making yourself suffer for no reason? You don’t need to sell snacks anymore, Peach.”

“I guess not…” Peach fell silent.

There was still a long time before the events began. While they were chatting, Peach rummaged through her backpack and took out some snacks.

In the end, Bai Yuyou closed her eyes and stuffed some dried fruit into her mouth, chewing away.

“Ducky said she wasn’t feeling well, so she went to the restroom… Oh, I think I see her over there.” Peach spoke as she noticed something and pointed.

Keke followed her gaze and indeed saw Ducky walking toward them.

“Ducky, over here!”

“Ah…” Ducky saw Keke waving at her and jogged over. “I’m here.”

Ducky was wearing sportswear as well. When Keke saw her, she asked, “Ducky, what event did you sign up for?”

“I’m not very good at running or anything like that, so I signed up for shot put.” An Shiyaya explained. The last time she had tried running, she had tripped on flat ground. She simply wasn’t very athletic, so she could only choose an event she thought she was relatively good at.

“Shot put? Is that the one with the really heavy ball?”

“That sounds pretty impressive. Last time, I carried those things back to the equipment room, and just three or four of them made me feel completely exhausted.”

As the girls chatted, An Shi Ducky noticed that most of them were there and asked where the others had gone.

“Little Yu? She’s probably with her brother, following him around like a little shadow,” Tang Keke said teasingly. “With a creature like Little Yu, you’ll definitely never find her if you go looking for her. But if you don’t look for her, she can show up anywhere.”

A sudden voice came from beside them.

The girls looked up and immediately screamed.

“You’re so noisy.” An Shiyu stood behind the girls with one hand on her hip. Seeing their reactions, she looked slightly disgusted. “What’s so strange about seeing me?”

“This is exactly what we mean—you always appear out of nowhere,” Keke said.

“I’ve been sitting behind you for ages, okay?” An Shiyu retorted.

“Aren’t you supposed to be following your brother?”

“Who says? I’ll go wherever I want.” An Shiyu crossed her arms. Then, as if she had thought of something, she continued, “Today is the day we settle this once and for all.”
