Manager Tao

After the surroundings quieted down, Taozi slowly let out a breath. She glanced at a burly man beside her. "What about you? Aren't you going to take the brothers out for some tea?"

"How about I escort you back?" The burly man flashed a set of snow-white teeth, not forgetting to roll up the sleeves of his security uniform to show off his muscles.

"No need."

"It's no trouble. Also, little... Manager Tao, you're dressed rather cutely today." The burly man looked at Taozi's maid outfit and chuckled.

"Don't force me to slap you." Taozi kicked his calf and stared at him silently.

"I'm out." Being stared down, the burly man immediately ducked into the car.

After the last car left, Taozi turned to look at Tang Keke and Bai Yuyou, then asked, "Did that scare you?"

"What did?" Tang Keke asked curiously.

"Just now... that, I..."

"It's fine, it's fine. Although I really was scared to death just now." Tang Keke grinned. Even though she was never very brave, she had seen her fair share of storms, so she recovered quite quickly.

"Taozi is just Taozi," Bai Yuyou chimed in.

"Taozi is just Taozi..." Hearing this, Taozi seemed to freeze for a few seconds before revealing a faint smile.

"Yeah, I am just me."

"Alright, let's go home."

"Okay..."

"By the way, Yuyou, Keke."

"What is it?"

"About joining the club, I'd like to join now. Is that okay?"

"Hehe, what are you talking about? You put on our Light Music Club's uniform, so you're already a member, Taozi."

"..."

"Are you shy?"

"No, can I have my clothes back first? I don't want to go home wearing a maid outfit."

"Oh my, it's so cute, just wear it for a bit longer."

"Fine..."

...

...

It was getting late into the night. Taozi drove up to the front of a company building. As she stepped through the company doors, the receptionist immediately spoke up, "Good evening, Manager Tao."

"Mhm, where are the colleagues who just came back?" Taozi asked casually, now dressed in simple work attire.

"They're in the activity room at the very back."

"Got it."

Taozi took the elevator up to one of the teen floors. Voices quickly rang out from inside, "Good evening, Manager Tao!"

"Where are those guests?" Taozi asked as she saw a few burly men walking over.

"They're being well entertained. They're playing video games in the room, everyone's quite happy."

As he spoke, the sound of electric arcs could be heard from the inner room, along with the shrill screams of the guests who were clearly overly excited.

"That's good. Keep playing games with the guests. Where is the one named Zheng He?" Taozi nodded slightly, then asked.

"Him? He just got tired from playing and fell asleep. Should I go wake him up?"

"Yes, I'll talk to him personally."

Taozi walked to the innermost room. At this moment, Zheng He looked as if a basin of water had just been splashed on him. He was huddled in the corner with a vacant stare. When Taozi walked in, he suddenly grabbed his head, revealing deep terror.

"What's going on? Didn't I say to entertain the guest properly? The air conditioning is so cold, couldn't you give him a piece of clothing?" Taozi asked the burly man beside her.

"Oh man, my mistake, my mistake. He was just watching a horror movie and got scared," the burly man immediately grabbed a towel to wrap Zheng He up a bit, then smiled and said, "Come on, guest, take a seat. I'll brew you a cup of tea."

Zheng He's body trembled, while Taozi simply smiled and said, "Have a seat, classmate Zheng He. Let's have a nice chat."

"I, I was wrong. Please, let me go back."

"What are you talking about? It's not like we're some sort of... I just saw you had a problem with my friends, so I invited you over for some tea, that's all." Taozi smiled as the burly man beside her brought over a cup of tea.

Large clumps of hair floated in the boiling hot tea. The burly man then said,

"Drink this cup of tea, and you can go back."

"I, I'll drink it." Zheng He immediately started gulping it down, completely ignoring the scalding temperature.

In the next second, Zheng He's facial features scrunched up tightly.

"I, I..." Zheng He was so burned he couldn't speak; even his mouth had gone numb.

"What's wrong?"

"Go... go back?" Zheng He stuttered, unable to even string together a coherent sentence.

"You drank it in such a hurry, it seems you were truly thirsty. Go pour the guest another cup," Taozi said to the burly man beside her. "Hurry up."

"I was wrong, I was really wrong. I shouldn't have had any ideas about Bai Yuyou. I'm sorry, I'm truly sorry."

Seeing another cup of hot tea being brought over, Zheng He, whose mouth was already swollen from the burns, cried out,

"I really was wrong!"

"You don't know you were wrong," Taozi said calmly. "You just know you're going to die."

Zheng He grabbed his own hair, unable to even squeeze out a tear.

Taozi said calmly, "To think you actually threatened to have us spend the night with you, and you weren't even afraid of the police. You guys really are a bunch of criminals, knowingly breaking the law."

Zheng He's eyes widened.

No way.

Talk about a reversal of roles?!

"Why are you looking at us? I'm much more law-abiding than you are," Taozi said lightly. "At the very least, we never do things like forcing women, we pay our taxes on time, and we even help old ladies cross the street."

Saying that, she shot a glance at the burly man beside her.

"It looks like this guest can't drink anymore. Make him drink some more tea, don't let him go thirsty."

"You got it, Manager."

The burly man punched Zheng He in the stomach. The latter instantly let out a wail, vomiting water in large mouthfuls.

"Alright, drink up again. What if you get thirsty?" The tea was forcefully poured down his throat once more.

At this point, Taozi didn't say much else. She simply stood up. "Alright, our chat is over, and the guest has finished his tea. Send him back."

"Will do."

Taozi walked out of the room, and just then, her phone rang.

She took a look; it was a call from her mother.

"Hello, Mother."

"Are you alright, sweetie? I heard you ran into some bad guys on your way home?" On the other end of the phone, Aunt Li's voice rang out.

"Did you get hurt at all?"

"I'm fine. We had a good talk with them, and we've already reconciled," Taozi said.

"As long as you're fine. Remember to find the police if you have any problems. There really are more and more of these bad guys lately."

"Okay." Taozi smiled, then paused for a moment.

"Um, Mother."

"What is it?"

"I joined the Light Music Club... together with Yuyou and the others."

"Isn't that wonderful?"

Hearing this, Taozi froze for a moment, then said, "Yeah, it's wonderful."

"Enjoy your youth to the fullest. After all, your student days will never come back once they're gone. Oh my, back in my day, I really didn't know how to cherish the time at all."

"Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Taozi looked at her phone's wallpaper featuring Yuyou and the others, and smiled faintly.

Right, I should watch some beginner instrument videos when I get home.

Shaking her head, Taozi left the company.
