A Match Made in Heaven

Zhou's Father and Zhou's Mother weren’t entirely unwilling to let Bai Yuyou continue living here, but the problem was their daughter was getting too close to Ye Shuang. What if she accidentally got pregnant, and Ye Shuang later married Chen Qin? What would the two of them do then? Let their daughter become an unwed mother?

But if they arranged for Bai Yuyou to be engaged to Ye Shuang, the Chen family wouldn’t agree. If they tried to take their daughter back, she herself wouldn’t consent.

Could they really trust Ye Shuang to be a gentleman?

Most of the time, these things were simply uncontrollable—that was the real dilemma for Zhou's Father and Zhou's Mother. On the surface, it seemed like they had plenty of options, but in reality, their choices were limited.

All three parties had their own stances, and on the surface, none of them seemed to be in the wrong.

"Old Zhou, if you're that worried, why not just let my daughter move in with them too?" Chen's Father said with a laugh.

"You really aren’t afraid of Qin Mei getting dragged into this, huh?" Zhou's Father shot him a sidelong glance.

"Why should I be afraid? I’d love to have a grandchild sooner rather than later," Chen's Father chuckled. "A baby between Qin Mei and Xiao Shuang would definitely be outstanding."

"How would you know?"

"Of course I know—I watched them grow up," Chen's Father clicked his tongue. "Seems like you two don’t realize just how well-matched they were as kids."

"I wouldn’t know."

"No worries, I’ll show you." Chen's Father turned to the Auntie standing nearby. "Help me set up the projector."

"Right away, Mr. Chen."

Soon, a four-meter-wide screen slowly descended on one side of the dining room—this was usually set up when Chen's Father wanted to watch a soccer match while eating. He opened a folder labeled "[My Darling Daughter]," which contained twenty-six files neatly arranged in chronological order.

From one year old to twenty-six, each folder was labeled with the corresponding year.

"Daddy, what is this…?" Even Chen Qin seemed to be seeing this for the first time, looking at her father in disbelief.

Chen's Father just smiled mysteriously before opening the folder labeled "18 Years Old," which contained a collection of videos. One of them showed what looked like a school graduation ceremony stage.

Ye Shuang immediately recognized it as the stage from their school’s farewell party.

The video was remarkably clear, clearly shot with professional equipment. The student host announced, "Next up, we have Class 1-3’s Ye Shuang and Chen Qin with their performance! Let’s give them a round of applause!"

Two figures stepped onto the stage—a boy in a formal suit with thick side-swept bangs, and a girl with long black hair in a black evening gown, holding a violin. After politely greeting the audience, they took their respective positions.

"Ye Shuang… up there." Bai Yuyou, seeing the boy in the video, tugged at Ye Shuang’s sleeve.

"Back then, I was still skinny."

Ye Shuang looked at his lanky younger self in the video, feeling a pang of nostalgia. He had gained quite a bit of weight after college.

The students in the video erupted in cheers before quickly quieting down. Ye Shuang sat at a piano, and as the first note rang out, a warm, melodious tune filled the air, gradually enveloping the entire venue. Each note seemed to carry a magical quality, soothing the hearts of everyone listening.

"Wow—"

"Incredible!" Amid the soul-stirring melody, occasional shouts of admiration could be heard from the students.

At that moment, Chen Qin, standing beside Ye Shuang, drew her bow across the violin strings. The moment the violin joined in, it was like the finishing touch—perfectly harmonizing with Ye Shuang’s piano, eliciting another wave of cheers from the audience.

Under the spotlight and the silver glow of the moonlight, the duet flowed like water, pure and transcendent, as if cleansing the soul.

The two figures seemed like a match made in heaven.

At that moment, everyone present could only think one thing: they were perfect together.

As the piece ended, thunderous applause filled the room. The two stood at the front of the stage, bowed gracefully, and walked off side by side.

The video ended right there.

"So? Perfectly matched, right? Their baby would be even more exceptional," Chen's Father said cheerfully. He had never missed a single important moment in his daughter’s life—and in many of those moments, Ye Shuang had been there too.

In Chen's Father’s eyes, they were always meant to be together.

"Daddy, when did you record this?"

"Heh." Seeing his daughter’s moved expression, Chen's Father looked even more pleased with himself. He turned to Zhou's Father. "Well? Doesn’t it sound beautiful? Aren’t they perfect together?"

"Yeah, perfect. What does that have to do with my daughter?" Zhou's Father said flatly.

You’re just showing off your own daughter, aren’t you?

If Bai Yuyou hadn’t been taken away, she would’ve been even more outstanding. With the right training, sending her to perform at an overseas opera house would’ve been a piece of cake.

"Hmm." Zhou's Mother, however, found Chen's Father’s reasoning convincing. She tugged at Zhou's Father’s sleeve. "Ah Feng, I think Old Chen has a point. If Qin Mei lives with them, having three people together might actually work out fine."

Zhou's Father thought for a moment but didn’t respond. Still, it was better than leaving a young man and woman alone together.

At the very least, with three people, it wouldn’t be so easy for anything to happen, right?

Zhou's Father sighed, then looked at Ye Shuang, as if thinking—Why couldn’t you have been a girl instead?

Zhou's Mother then turned to Chen Qin. "Qin Mei, would you be willing to live with them? Help us take care of Sister Rou from time to time?"

"Of course, no problem at all. Leave it to me," Chen Qin said with a smile, even stretching her foot under the table to rest it on Ye Shuang’s knee.

In reality, Chen Qin was quite busy with work, so she’d only be able to stay with Ye Shuang and Bai Yuyou occasionally. Their daily lives wouldn’t change much, but this arrangement would at least ease Zhou's Father and Zhou's Mother’s concerns—for now, it was the best solution.

"Then let’s settle it like this for now," Zhou's Father and Zhou's Mother said, though they still didn’t consider it the ideal outcome. But it was something they could reluctantly accept.

Once their daughter warmed up to them, they’d just take her back to Hong Kong and never return.

For now, building a bond with her was the top priority.

"Sweetheart, after breakfast, how about Mom takes you out for a walk?" Zhou's Mother asked gently.

Bai Yuyou glanced at Ye Shuang.

"Ye Shuang… come too…"

"No problem, let’s all go. We’ll just take a stroll and enjoy the scenery," Zhou's Mother said, not minding Ye Shuang tagging along. She was more worried Bai Yuyou might refuse otherwise.

"Old Chen, any good spots nearby for a walk?"

"Nearby…" Chen's Father thought for a moment. "There’s a museum and an art gallery about five kilometers away. If you’re just looking to walk around, you could check those out."

"Alright."

Ye Shuang turned to Chen Qin. "Are you heading back to the company?"

"Nothing scheduled for this morning… Honestly, I could skip the afternoon too if I wanted," Chen Qin mused before grinning.

"Wait—more importantly, do you want me to take the day off?"
