Dissolution

The weather was lovely when they set out. The sun was warm, accompanied by a gentle breeze, pleasant without being sweltering. The carriage rolled smoothly along the main road, barely jostling at all—a thoroughly comfortable ride.

"Moke, don't you think Xia Lun has been acting a bit strange lately?" Liyana’s slender fingers lightly poked Moke’s back as she cautiously glanced toward Xia Lun, who sat at the rear of the carriage.

Xia Lun didn't look up, seemingly oblivious to Liyana’s gaze.

"Does he?" Moke quietly glanced back.

Everything appeared the same as usual—Xia Lun still sat upright, his expression calm.

"Exactly. Ever since he came back from somewhere with Aina, their relationship has seemed a little off," Liyana whispered telepathically.

"I don't see much of a difference. Feels like before to me." Moke scratched his head. As far as he could tell, Xia Lun and Aina were still sitting together, chatting about something.

"There’s a huge difference! Can't you see?" Liyana conspired loudly with Moke. "Before, when they sat in the corner, their thighs and shoulders were pressed together! Now there’s enough space between them to fit a whole hand!"

"Huh..." Moke gave Liyana a strange look.

This guy usually pays this much attention? What a peeper...

Liyana kicked his boot indignantly. "It's called keen observation! Anyway, all signs point to something being wrong between those two." She said it with finality, as if she had solid proof.

"So what can you do? Don't just meddle in their business." Moke rolled his eyes at Liyana.

"First, I need to figure out where the problem is." Liyana completely ignored Moke's warning, analyzing on her own. "Only by finding the root cause can we solve the problem."

"And then? Have you found the problem?" Moke sighed. Once this one got an idea in her head, not even ten land dragons could drag her back.

If he let Liyana run wild on her own, who knew what trouble she’d stir up. Moke decided he’d better keep an eye on her.

"It definitely has to do with their last trip out. After everyone dispersed, the two of them just vanished, and no one knew where they went..." Liyana looked all mysterious.

"So, what conclusion have you drawn, Detective Miss Elf?" The word "detective" dripped with sarcasm from Moke’s lips.

Playing the straight man made him feel a bit thirsty, so he took a swig from his water pouch.

"I think... last time, after they split from us, they definitely went to—"

"Pfft—cough, cough, cough—"

Moke spat out a mouthful of water. Liyana dodged just in time, leaving Moke choking and coughing right where he sat.

"What the hell goes through your mind all day?" Moke finally caught his breath and glared at Liyana in disbelief. Noticing that Xia Lun’s glance seemed to drift in their direction, he quickly lowered his voice. "Don't just guess, and definitely don't stir things up!"

"It's not blind guessing—I have evidence!"

"What evidence... no, just shut up. Why am I even asking?" Moke was left bewildered by Liyana’s eccentric train of thought.

Liyana also lowered her voice, leaning close to Moke’s ear. "Tell me, is it possible that... Xia Lun can't satisfy Aina, and that’s why they’re getting distant?"

Moke: ...

Moke wished he could unhear that with a pair of ears that hadn't been defiled.

"Do you want to die? Gossiping about that kind of stuff?" Moke said, almost losing it. "Just because Xia Lun looks out for you, don't think you can get away with anything. If Aina decides to string you up and whip you with a fire lash this time, I bet even Xia Lun would be cheering her on."

"So what? We're adventurers! We've all hung around taverns and heard plenty of dirty jokes." Liyana shrugged nonchalantly. Then she suddenly shifted gears, nudging Moke with her elbow. "Seriously though, that kind of problem really hurts a relationship... You should work on it too, you know. Conquering your little bunny isn't easy."

"You bastard..." Moke gritted his teeth.

Liyana continued, "Since we've found the problem, we need to solve it... Next time we pass through Ole City, I'll ask Miss Ankula to whip up some potions to help Xia Lun regain his manhood. What do you think? If I say it's for Xia Lun, Miss Ankula definitely won't refuse."

"You're an animal!" Moke stared at Liyana in disbelief, his voice trembling from the shock.

Ankula was also a member of the Dawn Wings... Everyone knew she had feelings for Xia Lun—she'd confessed in front of them all, after all.

And the only reason she provided potions for the Dawn Wings was probably out of favor for Xia Lun. But everyone had the unspoken courtesy not to bring it up.

Liyana actually planned to ask Ankula to make that kind of potion for Xia Lun... Just thinking about it was brutal. Wasn't that just too cruel for Lady Ankula?

"Ah, yeah, that does seem a bit off..." Liyana's brain finally caught up, and she turned to look at Moke. "Musen is obviously a no-go... Then how about I say it's for you?"

"You bastard..." Moke clenched his fists, veins bulging on the back of his hands as he struggled to contain himself. There was only one thought in his mind now: to punch the oddly thinking elf right in the face.

Just as Moke was about to say something more, Xia Lun slowly stepped out of the carriage. Seeing the seriousness on Xia Lun's face, Liyana immediately fell silent, sat up straight, and pretended to admire the scenery by the roadside.

"Er... what's up, Xia Lun?" Moke awkwardly twitched the corner of his mouth and gave an unnatural cough. It couldn't be that Xia Lun had overheard the conversation with Liyana, could it?

"After discussing it with Aina..." Xia Lun took a deep breath, his voice low but clear, each word carrying immense weight. "Everyone, I have an announcement."

The surroundings suddenly fell silent. Even the horses pulling the carriage seemed to slow their pace. The sunlight was still bright, but the air around them seemed to drop a few degrees.

"After this mission, once we return to the city..." Xia Lun's throat bobbed as he scanned the faces of each companion, finally fixing his gaze on the ever-receding scenery outside.

The driver, Musen, turned back with a surprised look. Liyana’s smile froze on her face. Moke’s head snapped up.

In the deepest corner, Aina’s hood cast a shadow over her face, with only a lock of silver hair visible.

The sunlight was still warm, but inside the carriage, nothing would be the same anymore.

"The Dawn Wings is disbanding."
